Cold, humid wind brushes against his face gently, like being comforted. But there’s nothing comforting about it as the rain hits his face, his hair, his clothes. He stands there unmoving, as he’s stood countless of times before, as he always does.
He’s seen this scene countless of times, more than he can remember. He’s felt the void forming in his stomach and chest as he watches the bloodied figure in front of him. The way it becomes difficult to breathe as if he’s being choked.
Orter’s lived this nightmare so many times. Yet all he can do is stare in horror, as the shape that is usually in front of him is not there, and instead lays Rayne’s mangled, lifeless corpse.
