Work Text:

"Fucking weak, does this mean you have to stop hanging out with us?" A random kid dressed in black complained

"Fuck that, at least i haven't been thrown in jail!" Stan has been sentenced to 150 hours of community hours to Tweak Bros Coffee.

At least this meant Stan could eat the left over food that usually got thrown away at night, Stan was always starving. Now we aren't going to get into how exactly Stan fucked up and landed himself with 150 hours of community service yet, but it was a really stupid reason.

Apparently his Ex-best friend Kyle Broflovski had been assigned to the same amount of community service hours, after multiple arguments and even a few physical fights
(all of which Stan lost), they both accepted their fate of working together.

"Are you boys okay with closing up today?" Mrs. Tweak said in her soothing voice as she grabbed her hand bag. Kyle wiped his hands off on his apron before replying

"Yeah, it's truly no problem," he smiled.
Stan rolled his eyes at the interaction, he knew right as Tweek's mom left he was gonna get yelled at for something, Kyle seemed to know exactly how to get an adult to trust him. The doors closed with a thud and Stan glanced outside the window to see flurries of snow.

"Fuck, it's snowing," Stan muttered under his breath. Kyle gave Stan a look he knew well by now, clean that table right now before i throw it at you. Stan quickly complied and tried not to watch Kyle's swift movement's while he sweeped the floor, the way his feet seemed to shuffle as if he were about to dance was amusing to Stan. Kyle tried not to notice the way Stan kept snickering and biting his lip to try to conceal his amusement.

"Dude, what's so funny!" Kyle said furrowing his eyebrows and beginning to clench his fist,

"Okay okay i'm sorry i'll stop laughing!" Stan giggled covering his mouth with the back of his hand. Stan finished wiping down the tables and started to stack the chairs on top, once he was done with half of them Kyle joined in and stacked the rest.

As Kyle washed his hands in the sink Stan reached for the door, the metal doorknob felt like an icicle in Stan's grip. Stan ignored the numbing feeling and yanked on the door to swing it open, but the door didn't move.
Kyle watched Stan struggle to open the door and laughed at him, he came from behind him and attempted to swing the door open hopefully making a fool out of Stanley, but the door still did not budge

The coffee shop's front doors were jammed, Inside, the two teenage boys stood frozen in place, staring at each other in disbelief as they realized that they were stuck inside. The normally busy shop was now eerily quiet, the only sound coming from the faint hissing of steam from the espresso machines.

"Well, that was unexpected," Kyle muttered, breaking the silence. He tried the door handle again, but it wouldn't budge. They were trapped.

"Oh my god this is fucking weak," Stan responded. He looked around, trying to assess the situation. "We're going to be here for a while."

"You think?" Kyle said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. The two were always bickering and having arguments, mostly due to the fact that Stan was shit at his job, But right now, they had bigger problems to deal with.

The power had gone out, leaving them in complete darkness except for the dim emergency lights on the walls. As the hours ticked by, the temperature inside the shop continued to drop, and the two boys were forced to rely on each other for warmth in order to survive.

"We need to find a way to keep warm," Kyle said reluctantly. "Otherwise, we'll freeze."

Stan nodded, his breath fogging up in front of his face. "I know, dude. But there aren't any blankets or anything here."

Stan looked to the side in hesitation before walking towards Kyle. "Maybe we could huddle?" he said as his teeth chattered

They huddled together, their bodies pressed up against each other in an attempt to stay warm. Kyle's heart raced as he felt Stan's warm breath on his neck. They were enemies, but in that moment, the only thing that mattered was survival.

As the night wore on, boredom set in, and conversation began to flow. Kyle discovered that Stan was a good listener, which surprised him given their history. He found himself opening up about things he had never told anyone before, including his recent or ongoing experiences with Cartman.

"Dude, i'm not even lying right now. He literally used to shit on my doorstep." Kyle complained earning a giggle from Stan,

"That reminds me of the time he ate all the skin off of our KFC and made Kenny break down into tears," Stan reminded Kyle before hugging his knees to his chest.

"Fucking bastard," Kyle groaned and turned his head to face Stan, it was hard to see in the pitch black coffeehouse, but he knew he was at least looking towards him.

"Y'know, Stan, you're not as bad as I thought." Kyle smiled and attempted to pat Stan's shoulder, but ended up patting his head on accident.

"It's nice to know that someone thinks that," Stan laughed softly and readjusted his beanie, his teeth began to chatter when the room got drastically colder.

"Fuck, how does it just keep getting colder and colder?" Kyle groaned and shivered, Stan's teeth kept chattering.

Kyle slowly scooted closer towards Stan, both of the boys shoulders touched. Stan let out a gasp at the unexpected touch, before letting out a small sigh of relief when he realized it was Kyle.

A few minutes went past before Stan asked a question he already knew the answer to,
"How long do you think we will be stuck here?" Stan whined, hugging his legs closer.

"The whole night, I shouldn't have made her let us close up." Kyle sighed loudly and frowned, now that Kyle knew Stan wasn't really that bad of a guy, he felt bad hearing his teeth chattering.

"It's okay, dude. You didn't know that we'd be snowed in." Stan reassured, the two boys sat side by side for a majority of their night, but the temperature continued to drop.

"Shit, are we going to die?" Stan said shakily, his hands were almost numb at this point. Kyle's voice sounded uncertain, but he insisted that they'd survive.

"Just get close to me, okay?" Kyle instructed, the black haired boy reached out in Kyle's direction, the ginger held Stan's hands and pulled him closer.

"Do you think they will even know that we're here?" Kyle wondered and tried rubbing Stan's hands together to warm them up.

"They have too, and you know how worried your mom gets." Stan comforted, grateful for the other boy's attempt to warm him up.

Kyle let out a hum as a way of agreeing with Stan. He chewed his lip, not being able to shake off the slight feeling of fear. He slid his hands up to Stan's back to pull him even closer.

"This is gay, du-"

"Shut up, Stan. I'm fucking freezing."

Stan huffed and set his hands under the gingers arms, his fingers dug at Kyle's sides as if he were hoping that Kyle would be warmer.

"Would it be super-mega-gay if I hugged you right know?" Stan questioned, he really wanted to hide the fact that he didn't just want to hug Kyle because it was cold.

"Shit- just do it," Kyle said, a bit flustered. Stan wrapped his arms around Kyle's torso and rested his head on the redheads chest. The hug helped a bit with the cold.

Stan could hear Kyle's heartbeat, he nuzzled into the other boy's chest as if it would help him hear it better. Stan didn't know if it worked, but Kyle's heartbeat was definitely faster.

They both stayed there in a tight embrace, both were a bit flushed and uncomfortable. The contact kept them warm though, the boys were tired and just wanted to go home to sleep.

"Kyle, i'm sorry for being a dickhead," Stan apologized, the pitch black room remained quiet for a bit before Kyle replied.

"I'm sorry for kicking your ass, Stan." Kyle quietly laughed, he seemed exhausted at this point. The ginger held onto Stan and laid down, the black haired boy resting on his chest.

"Let's just go to sleep." Stan mumbled, nuzzling his head into Kyle's chest once again.
Kyle tried to ignore the butterflies he had and went to sleep, hoping that tomorrow they would be freed.
