Work Text:
Hermione wore a yellow dress that didn’t suit her at all. She was afraid her girlfriend would feel bad if she told her she did not like the dress she chose. So she went to Harry’s and Draco’s wedding in a dress that didn’t feel like her. It was worse when her ex was seated next to her and she looked like a bombshell.
Pansy was in a red dress that hugged all her curves, and her makeup looked glamorous. Hermione half-heartedly greeted her, feeling uncomfortable, especially when her girlfriend began flirting with Luna in front of Pansy.
Hermione excused herself, heading to the lavatory to hide away. Cheeks burning, she held back her tears, not wanting to mess up her makeup.
She sat in a stall, sniffing. It was a bad decision to continue dating a woman who was uninterested in her, but Hermione did not want to attend the wedding alone. Maybe it would have been better to have attended on her own.
A door opened and Hermione heard the clack of heels. “Are you alright?”
It was Pansy.
“Fine. You didn’t need to check up on me.” Hermione flushed the toilet and left the stall.
Pansy looked at her in concern.
"I worry when a beautiful girl's partner ignores her. You deserve better.”
“Why should my relationship matter to you?”
Pansy reached out, moving aside a strand of Hermione’s curly hair. “Because I still care about you.”
“You do?” Hermione whispered, the distance closing between them. Pansy looked at her lips and Hermione was sure she would lean down and kiss her. Closing her eyes, she rose to her tippy-toes and met Pansy’s lips with her own.
Pansy gasped, but pressed a hand on her waist and kissed her back.
What was she doing? Hermione should not have been kissing a girl who was not her girlfriend, but it felt like this was where she was meant to be.
