Work Text:
Daniel is on his knees. He’s clutching at Armand like he’s his only hope. He’s crying, tears are streaming down his face, and he can’t catch his breath. He doesn’t want Armand to leave him. Armand can’t leave him.
Armand is going to leave him.
“Beloved boy,” Armand coos as he places his hand on Daniel’s cheek. He flinches when his hand is slapped away.
“No, no, no!” Daniel yells. “You can’t do this. You cannot do this to me – to us!”
“Daniel –,”
“No!” Daniel shouts as he gets to his feet. He grabs Armand by the collar and drags him forward, their crashing together in a rough, disorganised kiss. “Please, baby, please,” He begs when Armand pushes him away.
“Don’t make this harder than it already is, pet,” Armand says as he turns away, not daring to look into Daniel’s eyes.
“Fuck you. Fuck you! You need me just as much as I need you,” Daniel says. “You won’t last a damn day without me. You won’t!”
Armand doesn’t reply. His silence, cold and cruel, burns inside Daniel as he tries to see a sign of…anything. Pain, sadness, even anger, but all Daniel could see was the heartbreaking indifference that Armand showed everyone else. Everyone but Daniel.
“This is – This is really happening, isn’t it?” Daniel asks. He can feel his lip tremble as he speaks, as more tears fall from his eyes, and a sob building in his throat, catching in the middle. “You’re leaving me,”
“I am,” Armand said. “This is for the best, Daniel. You and I have shared many happy memories together,”
Daniel hears a whine suddenly. It takes him a second to realise that it came from him.
“But it is time for both of us to move on,” Armand continues. “You will return to San Fransisco, and I will remove your memories of me. Of us. You will be free to do as you please. You will live a happy life without me, and all will be well again,”
“Wh – Where will you go?” Daniel asks. His body is trembling now. He can’t stop crying. Why can’t he stop crying? Why isn’t Armand crying?
“I will return to Louis,” Armand said. “I will not tell you where we will go,”
“Why?” Daniel said. “I won’t remember,”
“Just to be certain,” Armand said.
Daniel sobs. He falls to the ground, his body suddenly too heavy to hold, and drops his head into his hands. He cries, and cries, until his throat is raw, and his face is burning. He wants to stop, but he can’t because there are too many emotions, and they need to come out.
He doesn’t see the tears fall from Armand’s eyes.
