Introduction 1. Kimi Kazuyuki, Kimiko Kazuyuki, Kiroyuki, Mishi Mitsukuni, and Katsu Mitsukuni
The characters I’ve added are my original characters. For all of them, there are some details that I need to withhold because they would spoil too much about the story I am going to tell. Here’s what I can tell you about them right now:
Kimi Kazuyuki - Kimi Kazuyuki is the Ice Hashira, and he comes from the Kazuyuki Clan, an original clan that I created for this rewrite. Kimi is 21 years old, and his birthday is January 23rd. Like other members of the Kazuyuki Clan, he has light blue eyes, and waist length hair that is dark blue at the top, fading to light blue at his waist. He wears a version of the male demon slayer uniform that is modified to fit his fighting style and preference. His uniform is blue-tinted, and he wears long boots with his uniform that are fitted for the snow, Kimi fights with an icy blue katana forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique.
Kimiko Kazuyuki - Kimiko Kazuyuki is the tsuguko of Kimi Kazuyuki, the Ice Hashira. Kimiko is 14 years old, and his birthday is January 13th. He comes from the Kazuyuki Clan. Like other members of the Kazuyuki Clan, he has light blue eyes, and waist length hair that is dark blue at the top, fading to light blue at his waist. Kimiko wears a version of the male demon slayer uniform that is blue tinted and paired with long boots, similar to Kimi’s uniform. He also fights with a katana forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique, like Kimi. Kimiko has a crush on the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito. The two of them are currently close friends and exchange letters often.
Kiroyuki - Kiroyuki is the highest ranking demon in Muzan Kibutsuji’s hierarchy holding the rank of upper rank 0. Upper rank 0 is a rank that I created for this story, being a rank even higher than Upper Rank 1 (the highest rank in the original). Kiroyuki is over 1000 years old. He has black hair with blue highlights that flows past his waist and glowing blue eyes with “upper rank 0” carved into them. He wears dark black clothing with light blue and silver ornamentation.
Mishi Mitsukuni - Mishi is a kinoe rank demon slayer corps member, meaning he holds the highest rank aside from hashira. He is 18 years old, and the older twin brother of Katsu Mitsukuni.
Katsu Mitsukuni - Katsu is a kinoto rank demon slayer corps member, meaning he holds the highest rank aside from hashira and kinoe. He is 18 years old, and the younger twin brother of Mishi Mitsukuni.

Introduction 2. The Kazuyuki Clan
Let’s talk about The Kazuyuki Clan, my original clan that I created for this story.
The Kazuyuki Clan live alone in a tall, icy, snowy, mountain range, well hidden and disconnected from the rest of society. The mountain range was named the Kazuyuki Mountains, after the Kazuyuki Clan.
Even from birth every member of their clan has the unique magical ability to withstand outside temperatures of under 0 degrees celsius without any protection, and body temperatures of under 30 degrees celsius with no problem at all, earning them the nickname “The Cold-blooded Clan”.
Physical features that members of the Kazuyuki Clan share include but are not limited to blue eyes, light skin, and blue hair that fades from dark at the top to light at the bottom.
They created the breathing technique known as Ice Breathing, and they have their own methods of crafting nichirin swords unlike that of the swordsmith village, which they call the Ice Imbuing Technique. They are the only ones with the knowledge of Ice Breathing and the Ice Imbuing Technique.
They keep themselves well hidden and disconnected from the rest of the society to avoid being discovered by Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king, as he views them as a very dangerous threat.
The Ice Hashira, Kimi Kazuyuki, and his tsuguko, Kimiko Kazuyuki, are the only members of the Kazuyuki Clan that are in the demon slayer corps. They are therefore the only demon slayers to use Ice Breathing, as well as the only demon slayers with knowledge of the Ice Imbuing Technique. They fight to eventually take the head of the demon king.

Introduction 3. Ice Breathing and the Ice Imbuing Technique
Let’s talk more about Ice Breathing and the Ice Imbuing Technique.
The Ice Imbuing technique, known and used only by the Kazuyuki Clan, is a special technique used to forge swords. Only Ice Breathing can be used with this sword, but it brings out the full potential of Ice Breathing. Ice Breathing has 10 forms, and 8, 9, and 10 can only be performed with a sword forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique.
These are the 10 Ice Breathing forms as well as a description of each:
1st form: Crescent Moon Frost
The user performs a beautiful crescent shaped attack capable of striking multiple targets.
2nd form: Snowstrike
The user charges forward with their sword to strike their target with incredible momentum.
3rd form: Ice Of The Night
This technique greatly lowers the temperature of the surrounding area to temperatures below freezing.
4th form: Flurry Of Strikes
The user jumps high into the air and rains a violent flurry of multiple stabbing attacks down onto the enemy from above.
5th form: Freezing Blade
This technique extends the user’s sword with ice, making it longer and heavier to enhance the quality and power of the user’s attacks.
6th form: Permafrost
The user slams their sword into the ground to create a shockwave effect that freezes all water in the ground.
7th form: Enshrouding Winter Snow
This technique creates a heavy snowfall that hides the user’s movements. It greatly confuses the enemy by obscuring their view.
8th form: Ice Imbuing Thrust
This technique focuses all energy on the tip of the user’s sword, extending it with ice and strengthening it for a powerful attack that can stab through virtually anything. It can only be performed with a sword that has been forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique.
9th form: Ice Imbuing Cut
This technique focuses all energy on the blade of the user’s sword, extending it with ice and making it sharper than ever for a powerful attack that can cut through virtually anything. It can only be performed with a sword that has been forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique.
10th form: Ice Imbuing Time
The final and most powerful form of Ice Breathing. It freezes time itself, whether it be for the environment or for a single object. It can only be performed with a sword that has been forged using the Ice Imbuing Technique, which is the main reason that knowledge of it along with knowledge of Ice Breathing has been kept a closely guarded secret by the Kazuyuki Clan.

Introduction 4. Mitsuri Kanroji, Aoi Kanzaki, Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho’s removals
Now for the characters that I’ve removed. The characters that I’ve removed are Mitsuri Kanroji, Aoi Kanzaki, Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho.
I didn’t think Mitsuri fit into the story very well in terms of writing, didn’t match the theme of the story, and just overall felt like a character that was very out of context.
Mitsuri’s reasoning for becoming a hashira was extremely ridiculous and incredibly shallow compared to that of the other hashira, and had nothing to do with demons at all. She’s always had everything that she needed to live a proper life, unlike everyone else, making her reasoning for becoming a hashira even shallower. The fact that she threw a whiny hissy fit and said her day was ruined just because someone didn’t respond to her when she said hello to them says a lot about how spoiled she is, and she is therefore the opposite of the other hashira.
Mitsuri wasn’t even a decent character in terms of writing, and was really just the second worst character. She was also incredibly useless as a character. She could easily be taken out of the story without having to change much, so that’s what I’m doing. The story is better off without her.
The story is also better off without Aoi, Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho. They’re overall useless characters and aren’t necessary for the story or its narrative.

Introduction 5. A few changed details
Now for the details I have changed about the franchise. There are a few things I needed to change to better suit the story I plan to tell.
The first thing is Muzan’s ability to read the minds of demons. Muzan has been shown to have the ability to read the minds of at least some of the demons, if not all of them. In this rewrite, he is unable to read the minds of demons. I cannot say why, as it is a spoiler for the story I am about to tell, but the story would not work without removing this ability of his.
I’m also going to change a lot about the breathing techniques. In the original franchise, using a breathing technique does not actually create the element or give the user any elemental powers or effects. However, in this rewrite, the breathing techniques, Ice Breathing especially, are going to create their respective elements and grant their users elemental powers and/or effects. I’m sure this also explains a lot of the Ice Breathing forms that I explained in the third introduction chapter.
In this story, Mist Breathing is derived from Water Breathing, NOT Wind Breathing. It makes no sense at all for it to be derived from Wind Breathing when mist is LITERALLY A FORM OF WATER. I have no fucking clue why the writer made it come from Wind Breathing in the original because it makes no sense for it to come from anywhere but Water Breathing.
Lastly, I’m going to change something major about the demons. In the original, Muzan being killed would mean the death for all of the other demons. However, I am changing this. Muzan’s death does not mean the death of all other demons. Muzan is still the only demon able to create other demons, meaning his death would spell the end of demon creation, as he is the only demon capable of making other demons, but it would not spell the immediate and abrupt end of all demons in the world.

Introduction 6. Nezuko Kamado’s alteration
About the thing that I’ve drastically altered, that would be none other than Nezuko Kamado, the objectified demon younger sister of the main character. I hate to say it, but Nezuko is just a mess of hot garbage when it comes to her writing. Calling her a character is too high a compliment for her. I have altered her writing drastically to make her an actual character and better written, for her to make more sense, for her to have more humanity, for her to have more agency, for her to be more believable, etc. You’ll see what I mean.
Now let’s go into more detail about why Nezuko is Demon Slayer's worst problem.
Being a demon means suffering an instinct to devour humans or die. Being a demon means dying upon setting foot in the sunlight. Being a demon means being hunted down by Demon Slayers and killed. ETC, ETC, ETC. Nezuko suffers from NONE OF THESE THINGS! Instead she just gets all the upsides of being a demon (and a strong one at that) TENFOLD (blood demon art, regeneration, paused aging, ETC, ETC, ETC) without having to work for it or suffer any of the downsides.
Yes, she doesn’t attack or eat humans. However, she was hypnotized not to do so by Sakonji Urokodaki. Her first instinct as a demon was to attack Tanjiro, and only when Tanjiro showed he was willing to risk his life to protect her, did she try not to hurt him. However, not all demons are that lucky. I would argue that any demon receiving such kindness and hypnotization such as that would behave the same way, without a doubt. It’s not Nezuko’s decision, she didn’t have to do anything, and it’s not fair.
Tell me one thing that she wants. Something that SHE actually wants, not something that someone else has decided is best for her. She doesn’t have anything. We don’t even know if she actually wants to be human again. Tanjiro made that decision for her. She does what Tanjiro tells her to and protects humans because she was hypnotized to do so, like programming a computer or training a pet. She’s dumb, she’s often incredibly absentminded, and she acts like a TODDLER if not a PET, which, makes her seem to have lost a lot more consciousness and humanity in her demon transition than the demons that the demon slayers are actively trying to kill. Tamayo and Yushiro don’t wear muzzles that keep them from talking, Rui was a child demon but perfectly mature with his own thoughts, feelings, and goals, ETC, ETC, ETC, I could go on about this ALL DAY.
Also, about the muzzle, it’s entirely unnecessary. Nezuko could break out of it easily and it only serves to reduce her to growling like a dog instead of talking. She also doesn’t use any forms of nonverbal communication, and that berserk form of hers that showed up in the Entertainment District Arc only made her writing even worse. Also, not only does the muzzle mean she has no dialogue interactions with the characters, but instead when the characters are talking she just hangs around letting them pet her instead. And, even with the muzzle, she could still very well be getting her own inner monologues to tell us what she’s thinking, but we never get any, which reinforces the assumption she doesn’t have any thinking and has lost her consciousness.
Dog? Dog.
Nezuko really should’ve died in this series. There were so many times when she should’ve died but has just been operating on sheer plot armor for this series when she’s NOT EVEN A CHARACTER LET ALONE A GOOD ONE!
The end of the Swordsmith Village Arc would’ve been the perfect time for her to die. For the entirety of this series, we have been taught that sunlight is the ONLY guarantee when it comes to killing demons. It’s the one thing that is GUARANTEED to be fatal for them. Upper rank demons don’t always die when you cut their head off, maybe certain conditions have to be met, or whatever, but even upper rank demons are guaranteed to be killed by sunlight. Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king, would die if exposed to sunlight. Even him. For these reasons, and more, Nezuko’s death is set up perfectly.
At the end of the Swordsmith Village Arc, Tanjiro had to choose between the villagers and Nezuko, and Nezuko made the choice for him, to sacrifice herself for the villagers. It may have just been Sakonji Urokodaki’s influence, but for the first time in the entire series, it appeared that Nezuko may have actually made a choice of her own. It was the perfect way to die, and for the perfect reasons.
BUT NO! Not only did they COMPLETELY DISCARD this AMAZING DEATH OPPORTUNITY, but they made her DEUS EX IMMUNE TO THE SUN, COMPLETELY INVALIDATING THE ONLY THING WE KNEW FOR SURE ABOUT DEMONS! None of the characters question it either to make matters stranger.
Nezuko is onscreen so much that it’s painful. It's like she won the story’s lottery and gets to plow her way through the story gaining more power without having to earn it or train for it or do ANYTHING. ANYONE ELSE would have deserved it more than her. LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE. The plot is just constantly handing her free passes and abilities on a silver platter ALL THE TIME. No downsides, no hardships, none of that, and she has done NOTHING to earn any of this.
It doesn’t help that so many of the characters in the show (as well as all of her toxic fans, for that matter) place her on this unbelievably high pedestal. She could easily be replaced with a cute plastic doll and no one would notice. That is how shallow she is.
Most of the characters in this series that aren’t immediately killed off right after they’re introduced endure hell to get to where they are, and a lot of them endure hell just to even survive. What is for sure is that they’ve all worked incredibly hard, and sometimes that STILL isn’t enough. So many of them die such horrible and unnecessary deaths, and then Nezuko gets off with all of this DELUSIONALLY RIDICULOUS CRAP! Not to mention she doesn't even die in the end...
Okay that's it for the introductions.
Now for the prologue.

It was a quiet, solemn, night.
Inside a house with walls covered in blood, a young boy lay motionless on the ground.
Dead.
An unknown presence approached him, choosing to bring him back from the afterlife.
And so the boy was reborn.

Chapt er 1. Hantengu arrives
Tanjiro had just fallen asleep when he was woken up by someone pinching his nose. He jolted awake. After sitting up, he noticed it was the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito.
“Tokito-san! It’s you! Did you just pinch my nose?” Tanjiro asked.
“Yes,” Muichiro replied. “And you reacted too slowly.”
“If you’d done it with animosity I would have known!” Tanjiro said.
“...but I wouldn’t pinch a nose in anger,” Muichiro said. “Do you know a swordsmith named Kanamori?”
“I know Kanamori-san," Tanjiro replied.
“He’s my new swordsmith, so I’m looking for him."
“I’d guess he’s with Haganezuka-san. Haganezuka-san is my swordsmith! Shall we search for them both together?”
“...why are you so helpful?” Muichiro asked. “Don’t you have your own concerns?”
“Helping others often ends up helping you as well!” Tanjiro replied cheerfully. “Besides, I was thinking about doing it anyway, so this is perfect!”
Silence.
“What did you just say…?” Muichiro asked. “Just now…?”
“I said this is perfect!” Tanjiro replied. “I was thinking about searching for them myself!”
Muichiro and Tanjiro heard Nezuko yawn long and hard.
“Big brother, what’s going on?” Nezuko asked, rubbing her eyes and still half asleep. “Who’s this?”
“Nezuko! You’re up!” Tanjiro said. “We were talking about searching for Kanamori-san and Haganezuka-san. Would you like to come with us, or stay here?”
Before Nezuko could answer, Muichiro and Tanjiro both sensed that something- or someone- was close nearby. They saw a demon enter the room. Its skill at remaining hidden was shocking. Tanjiro and even Muichiro didn’t know it was a demon until they saw it. Maybe they held back because they couldn’t see a number in its eyes, but there was no doubt that this was an upper rank demon.
“Mist Breathing, fourth form,” Muichiro breathed deeply. “Shifting flow slash!”
With incredible speed, Muichiro rushed toward the demon with his sword in an attempt to decapitate it. The demon dodged the attack and jumped up onto the ceiling.
“Stop! Don’t be so mean to me!” the demon cried. “It hurts!”
“Hinokami kagura,” Tanjiro said, drawing his sword. “Sunflower thrust!”
Tanjiro thrust his sword at the demon.
The demon dodged the attack again, but wouldn’t fight back against them. It fell onto the floor, and at what looked like the speed of light, Muichiro was easily able to behead it.
“You cut off his head already!?” Nezuko asked. “That was really fast!”
Instead of dying, the demon’s head grew a body and the demon’s body grew a head. One of them had a weird fan and the other had a strange staff.
“I’ll take the one with the staff!” Tanjiro said.
Muichiro rushed toward the one with the weird fan. The one with the fan waved its fan at Muichiro, and the wind was so powerful that it blew the building apart.
Muichiro flew into the forest, and Tanjiro and Nezuko almost fell off the edge of the building but managed to hold on.
“This is fun!” the fan demon, Karaku, said. “They really went flying, didn’t they, Sekido?”
“There’s nothing fun about it,” the staff demon, Sekido, said. “I am just angry. Angry about being mixed in with you too, Karaku!”
“Oh? Then it’s good we’ve been separated,” Karaku said.
“Do we have to cut off their heads at the same time again?” Tanjiro asked himself.
Sekido slammed his staff onto the ground, and Tanjiro and Nezuko were both hit with a powerful electric shock.
“What is this?” Tanjiro thought. “I’m going to pass out!”
Out of the corner of his eye, Tanjiro noticed someone on the roof of the building. Well… what was left of the roof. Tanjiro looked closer and saw that it was Genya.
Genya was holding a gun. He fired at the heads of the two demons. Tanjiro noticed that, although it was a gun, it smelled just like a nichirin sword.
“That was fun,” Karaku said. “I’ve never felt an attack like that before!”
Genya jumped down from the roof and charged toward the demons, with his sword in his hand.
“No! Genya!” Tanjiro said. “No matter how strong the weapon, this demon can’t be defeated!”
Genya swung at both of their heads and severed them.
“It’s rejuvenating! Getting stronger!” Tanjiro said. “It WANTS you to cut its head off!”
The demon now had four separate bodies. On top of the original two, there was now one with a spear, and one with wings and talons.
“The demon isn’t worried that we’ll take its head, so that’s not its weak spot!” Tanjiro said. “We need to figure out what the weak spot is!”
The one with wings and talons used its talons to grab Tanjiro and flew away with him.
“How wonderful! It’s been so long since I divided!” the demon with wings and talons exclaimed happily.
“This one can fly!” Tanjiro thought. “They each have different abilities!”
“Big brother!” Nezuko cried. “I’m coming to help you!”
“Don’t worry about me!” Tanjiro said. “Go help Genya!”
“You’re so weak it’s sad,” the demon with the spear said, stabbing Genya through the chest.
“GENYA!” Tanjiro yelled. “Nezuko! Help Genya! Please!”
“Okay!” Nezuko said, hurrying over to where Genya and Aizetsu, the demon with the spear, were.
Tanjiro was carried away by the demon with wings and talons. He attempted to use a breathing technique and the demon dropped him.
Tanjiro tumbled down into the forest and landed on the ground. He tried to get up but his body was numb and he couldn’t hear anything.
