Seashell Petals

Summary:

And I swear by the night and every droplet of the rain that I never wanted to slip that hard.
It almost feels like our fates were meant to be intertwined like a hard knot.

I used to see love wherever I go, even around you, right near you,
but then I started seeing you wherever I go, in the sun and the moon and the stars I can never count.

I saw the endless colors of the sky and the land; I heard my voice echoing in the chambers back to me.
It felt like love was speaking through me and to me, and they knew I was waking up in another dream.

But with my seeing eye I witness it's not as bright as it pretends to be:
rusty gears, a broken mirror and a cold hearth.
It was frozen like a nightmare I got myself into.
Even the dear ocean couldn't compete with your warmth anymore.

Chapter 1: [Prologue] - “Looking through the books..”

Chapter Text

Every star sparkled as if they were battling who’d get shinier than the sun. The trees were standing figures blocking the faint but warm lights of the city.
The green cloaked wanderer was walking alone in the dark, clearing his head.
The sounds of the forest were non-existent, his mind was echoing the voices his little pointy ears heard today.

He met a lot of new animals today, short and tall, small and big. They were chatting loudly and walking here and there. They were fast; faster than he could manage.

He always loved taking things easy.

His big yellow eyes caught the soft colors, it was a lake surrounded by a bed of flowers.
It quickly became his place of rest.

The water was a mirror to the sky above it, crystalflies of different colors were flying around the long, long trees.
How did a simple place like this feel like home more than the actual houses of the citizens?

But his ears were alerted by the sound of water, he wasn’t alone. Something was moving around the lake, swimming in circles as he could see the shadow underneath.

It jumped from the water right up to the sky followed by a trail of droplets reflecting the light of the crystalflies as if they were stars of their own.
The body in the air was as dark as the trees, a distinguished shape in front of the night sky. He tried to identify it, was it… a bird?

Once the unknown figure dived back into the water, he closed his eyes from the drizzles that attacked them.

The diver lunged to the surface on their chubby stomach before standing up.

Shortly they noticed the invader watching so they puffed up in panic before jumping back into the water.

“Wait!” The watcher called, widening its sharp eyes, but they were already in.
’Strange’ he wondered to himself, he had never seen a bird able to swim like that, it didn’t seem to have feathers either… the shadow of the animal was carefully heading towards him. Their peak rises from the water, then slowly the rest of their face. He bent to them, taking a closer look at their face.

“Just what could you be?” He asked but the strange bird tilted their head, they had another question sparkling in their sky-blue eyes, a question of the same vein.

He looked at himself, the patterns on his green and his lack of arms - he didn’t look like normal cats too, it makes sense “Nevermind, then.” He coughed in embarrassment.

That’s a thing they have in common, at least. Both are so different from their people.

“Pers.” The little bird said with their little voice. The cloaked cat hummed for them to repeat “My name is Pers.”

The cat’s puzzled glare softens, this bird only wanted to make some friends, does that mean he trusts him now? Should he trust him as well? After all, they’re only outcasts here - maybe that’s what the bird is trying to say.

Said bird goes silent again, waiting for a response.
So, he decides to not keep him silent any longer.

“Cuilein-Anbar, my name is Cuilein-Anbar. An honor to meet you.”

And this marks the start of anticipation for both parties, together in how alone they are.
