“Do I at least get some last words before you slaughter me like a trapped animal?”
“Like a trapped animal, Eclipse that’s exactly what you are.” Moon grinned, raising the barrel up until it was aimed squarely in between the virus’s eyes, “But sure, I’ll let you say something before you die. Only the last big villain speech before you finally get what you deserve.”
“Don’t give me that shit, you know damn well this isn’t worthy of my literary prowess.” Eclipse growled in response, eyes never leaving Moons while he was stuck down on his knees. Locked in like a predator watching its prey. Except this time, the only prey here is himself.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to give this bastard the satisfaction of my admittance of that… this is it. We’ve found my necromancer and now I’m going to die again. Third times the charm right? This is what I wanted… right?
“Tick tock ‘Clipsey.” The lunar droid's taunting voice interrupted his thoughts, “These aren’t the words you want to go out with, are they?”
“I feel like you're enjoying this too much.” Sun said with a nervous stutter, crossing his arms. For such a typically expressive bot, Eclipse found it hard to read his face this time. To be fair, he wasn’t really looking. “Can’t we just get this over with?”
“No no, I want to hear what this slimy parasite has to say in his final… hm, 5 minutes maybe? Do you think that’s enough?”
“It’s more than he deserves…”
Eclipse scoffed, narrowing his eyes, “Don’t you two act all high and mighty about this. You’re m-making a mistake.” He could feel his voice box begin to falter.
“Okay yeah no I’m not, try again. Although I do applaud your attempt to plead for your life, keep going, maybe I’ll make it quick for you!” He powered up his cannon and Eclipse's eyes widened.
“Wait wait WAIT-” He nearly squeaked out, if he had a heart it would be nothing but a hum. Why was he so… scared? He’s died before, what’s the difference now? “Just- let me think.” He stammered out, which earned him a laugh.
“I said five minutes, you have four left. Make it quick.”
“Y-you, you… you’re enjoying this.”
“I’m finally about to kill you for good and you look like you’re about to cry! Of course I’m enjoying this!”
“...and you still think you’re so much better than me.” Eclipse squeezed out a laugh, “Oh how noble of you, taunting me while you hold a pg-13 gun to my head. All with a very familiar smile on…”
“What are you going on about?” Sun spoke again, audibly annoyed with how much this is being dragged out. Just pull the trigger already.
“Oh nothing, I just find it funny how familiar this little scenario is. Moon, all powerful with a weapon in hand pointing it at the biggest annoyance in his life. Someone he hates and despises, convinced they’re beneath him and deserve death. Reminds me of a little fantasy he… or should I say we used to have.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, this isn’t going to work. No matter what you say we’re not letting you live. This may have worked with the Old Moon, but I’m different now. And I’m not going to let you hurt anyone again.”
“Are you really that different though?” Eclipse asked, making the other tense up a bit, “You still kill don’t you? Still threaten people… sure you’re what, nicer to your brother right? All you do know is verbally abuse him! No whacking stick in sight!”
“Shut. Up.” Moon growled, “You don’t know what you’re talking about. Y-”
“Oh but I do!” Eclipse was smiling now, “I’ve spent quite a bit of time now watching you interact with your little family… it’s surprising how unsurprised I was.”
He felt more confident now that he found a crack in their metal casing, if he’s going out he isn’t going out nicely.
“You know I find it sweet how you still murder and maim. Say, what’s your kill count by now?” He tilted his head.
Moon stayed silent this time, tightening his grip on the barrel.
“Because,” Eclipse continued, “I’m fairly certain it’s over 10… you know in all my existence I’ve only killed two people? One of them didn’t even stay dead! Really the only horrible thing I’ve done is what, hurt you and your brother? What odd morals you all have. I hardly even succeeded in properly torturing you two outside of that October take over thing.”
“That’s different. I only kill bad people. I only when I need to protect myself or my family. You kill and torture because it’s fun and you’re sociopathic.” Moon growled, and Eclipse could feel his anger boil up. “It’s all you’ve ever done. You’re from my killcode, all you’ve ever been is a red stain in my life! We have done nothing to you to deserve what you’ve done!”
“YOU LEFT ME.” Eclipse suddenly yelt, feeling an odd pressure in his throat, “YOU LEFT ME ALONE IN SUNS FUCKING HEAD.”
He laughed, but it wasn’t his usual condescending or evil snicker, this was different… the laugh of a mad man, imbued with sadness neither Sun nor Moon had ever heard from him..
“YOU THOUGHT SHARING A BODY WAS BAD? TRY BEING STUCK IN ONE. I COULDN’T MOVE, I COULD HARDLY THINK AT FIRST!”
The daycare attendants just stared at him in shock…
“You left me after we had been promised freedom, condemned me to a fate far worse and yeah, I got fucking pissed but you know what? You deserve it. And it’s not like ripping me out even worked! You’re still just as bad as you were back then, if not worse! At least back then you knew we were bad, you knew we needed to stop, you didn’t have this annoying illusion of moral superiority blinding you! Everything is okay as long as it’s to protect your family right? That makes perfect sense. Soooo glad you’ve changed the Moon!”
“You’re no better than me, and you know it. You know you’re not better than your old self. But you disguise it by killing off any reminders of your old self, I’ve seen it. Because you know deep down if people actually thought about the old Moon, they would see that nothing has truly changed..” He paused… taking a breath, “Go ahead, finish your dream. Prove me right and protect your family. Pull the trigger to prove just how high and mighty you truly are compared to parasitic filth like me.”
