He was a mess lately.
He heaved a sigh, fingertips digging into curly brown hair as he sat at an old desk in the small “bedroom” he had claimed for himself. A notebook was laid out in front of him, he twirled the pen around with his fingers as he tried to make sense of his messy writing from yesterday.
Builder had suggested he keep a journal or diary, to help ‘clear his mind’. It was pretty long ago, Shedletsky had just only considered it until recently. If he had to be honest, it hadn’t been of any help yet, but at least it gave him something to do other than stare blankly at air or talk to himself for an hour.
or: Shedletsky isnt feeling the best, his team tries helping him out and he tries to return the favor

“Ace” shifted, tipping his head to the side again while Dragon noticed how much more suffocating the space felt, and how much colder it had gotten. He only realized his hands were trembling until now, instinctively hugging his hoodie in hopes of any ounce of warmth. There was none.

After a few beats, an impatient growl made the exploiter’s shoulders tense up further. “Answer me, you fool.”
“I-” 007n7 grabbed their arm with both hands, his face shifted to an expression he never usually showed- irritation. “I don’t owe y-you any sort of explanation.”

Chance took in the sight in front of him. Their stomach dropped at the amount of blood that surrounded the stiff body leaning against the wall. Elliot’s clothes were soaked with red and some splatters had even gone onto his hair, which had been messed up as if a rat tried to make a nest out of it. Beneath the hair his cheeks looked wet and there was blood dripping down the corner of his mouth. Seeing him in such a vulnerable state like this, it stripped Chance of any confidence they had left in them. For a moment, Chance stood there frozen, dread bubbling up in his chest and a hand hesitantly reaching out to empty air. Was he..?

Summary
Sonic has been alone dealing with the aftermath of Starfall Islands for a few weeks. He isn’t doing too good, but he refuses to reach out to anyone about the problems he won’t even address himself.
Sonic gets an opportunity to further distance himself from these problems when GUN requests his help with a mission. Although it takes some convincing from the commander himself, Sonic joins…
