Work Text:

Danny felt groggy as he sat up in bed, his head swarming with dreams he couldn't fully remember. He sat and fought for a moment to try and recall them, however his thoughts were interrupted by Archiblob Bloberton head butting his cheek, all thoughts on dreams disappeared as he reached up to pet the blob ghost. “Hey, Blobby, he muttered, voice horse from sleep.

the little ghost trilled and nuzzled into Danny's hand. However the moment didn't last when a resounding boom shook the whole house. Danny sighed before he sat up to start his day. Despite the explosion, The day started out pretty normal for Danny, or as normal as it is when you are half ghost with ghost hunter parents. But you know, Danny gave up trying to be normal long ago and the whole half dead thing was just another thing added to the pile. Danny had been home a whole week due to Jazz insisting that he needed rest after the accident, she had even gone ahead and called the school and emailed his professors before he could even tell her not to worry and that he was fine.

Before he left for the day his parents talked about their most recent invention, the Fenton Thermos. It is supposed to catch and hold ghosts, as well as hold soup—according to his dad. Danny sighed, he could go without being sucked into a thermos trying to drink soup. But before he could do anything his dad shoved it into his hand telling him to test it out for him today and that his mother put some leftover soup in it. Danny sighed again before clipping it to his back.

He took a deep breath and let out a sigh as he stepped out of the house with his little sister. Danny hated being stuck in one place for so long, but in reality Danny was glad that his sister cared enough to do things like that—even if it was kinda annoying. Danny’s original plan after high school was to get a job anywhere he could and get a place of his own so he could take better care of his little sister. But then Jazz got onto him about not looking for a college.

As Danny likes to put it; she verbally kicked his ass!

After a long talk they had compromised; Danny would go to the community college nearby and would live at home so he could be there for her until she graduated high school. Danny would have liked to have his own place, but Jazz wouldn't hear anything about living with him without getting a job of her own. Which Danny denied, telling her: “you're the smart one, you just focus on school.” So all Danny could do was save up money while he went to school.
Jazz grabbed his elbow, startling him out of his thoughts. “Are you sure you're ok, big brother?” She asked, concern evident on her face.

Danny laughed light heartedly, “how many times are you gonna ask that?” Danny looked around, noticing that they are close to Tucker's place.

“As many times as it takes!” She says matter-of-factly, “as you’re little sister, I care about you!” She said, sounding too grown up.

“Hey let me worry about everything,” Danny says as he points his thumb towards himself, “besides, I’m fine!” Danny reaches up to rub the back of his neck but instead meets the strange solid that was Archiblob, curled up on the back of his neck purring soundlessly and invisible. Archiblob has been a huge help with panic attacks as of late and helping Danny grow accustomed to his new set of abilities, all while keeping out of sight of any other living being. Danny had a theory that the reason Archiblob would hide away when living creatures but him was because… he was dead… or at least half way there, he tried not to think about it too hard. Danny didn't know why Archiblob came to him when he did, but he sure was thankful.

Danny looked up as Jazz knocked on the front door of the Foley residence, even though she was told many times by Mrs.Foley herself that she could just walk in if she wanted.

It was very rare for her to barge into anywhere. The last time she had it was when she got a C on a test she forgot to study for. That had been a field day for Danny trying to find her when she wasn't at the school when he went to pick her up. Danny had found her hours later sobbing on Tucker who looked rather tired as he comforted her on the couch.

Mrs.Foley answered the door with a bright smile directed to Jazz. “Jazz, sweetheart! Good to see you! Could you go run up and get Tucker for me?” She says as she steps aside for her to go up, “he’s been struggling to wake up this morning.” She says with a smile. Jazz nodded with a smirk and sped past the older woman to go jump on her friend. Danny laughed, causing Mrs.Foley to turn back to him. “Danny, how are you, sugar? Haven't seen you in a while!” She says with a smile as she goes in for a hug. “Jazz told me you were out sick, are you feeling alright?” Danny hugs her back, but panic filled his chest when he felt his hands go through her, he jumped away as soon as she loosened her grip.

“Y-yeah, I, uh,” Danny sputters out, trying to regain his composure.

“You feeling alright, hon?” Mrs.Foley says looking at the young adult with worry. She stepped closer to him and placed a hand on his forehead to feel his temperature. “Oh goodness, you're freezing! Should you really be working today?” She asked, ready to pull him inside and force him to rest some more. But a shriek from upstairs followed by Jazz’s laughter distracted her long enough for Danny to step away.

“I really should be going! I have to get to the school early so I can get the rundown on what I missed from Mr.Lancer, make sure Jazz eats something, Ok bye!!!” Danny says as fast as he could before running off.

When Danny made it to the next block he slowed to a stop, bending over as he placed his hands on his knees so he could catch his breath. Danny felt Archiblob shift and fly into his face as it let out a soft chirp. “Heh, that was a close one, ey Blobby?” Danny said, looking up to see the blob show its concern in soft chirps. “I'm good, buddy, just a little winded, hah.” Danny wheezes out, laughing at his own joke. The blob tilts in confusion causing Danny to laugh more and straighten up.

Danny walked the rest of the way to the school. By the time he got there a few people were already there despite it being so early. Then again, Danny used to be one of those kids that went to school early so he could eat whatever he could from the cafeteria—nothing too appetizing yet better than nothing.

As he neared the entrance the football team ran past the steps up to the building, blocking his entry. Danny stood and waited for the flock of jocks to pass when a loud voice shouted out to him.
“Fenton!”.

“Morning Coach Tetslaff.” Danny says as he turns to see the large buff woman.

When Danny went to school here her class was the bane of his existence, and Danny was the bane of hers. “Hows one of my worst students? Saw you were out for a week!” She says as she nears him.

“Yeah, but I'm all good now.” Danny says as he grips the strap of his messenger bag. Some of the football players stopped to watch, must be the freshmen, Danny thought.

“Let some big bad germs get you down?” Tetslaff says as if it were some kind of joke. some of the football players laughed at her sudo-joke.

Danny smiled, “not quite,” Danny says. Before Tetslaff could ask anything else Danny looked down at his watch, “say, it's getting late,” he looked over at the football team watching the two talk, “looks like your team is behind schedule.”

Tetslaff took the bait and looked up to the young football players, “what are you meatheads doing standing around!? Go, Go, Go!” She shouts as she begins to charge after them. Danny held in a chuckle as the high schoolers scattered and took off running with Tetslaff on their tails.

Danny continued his way into the school making his way to the main office to talk to his mentor, Mr.Lancer. Lancer was the one who helped him get a job here, at first it was as a janitor—which sucked for Danny— but then when he decided to get a teaching degree Lancer helped him to get a TA possession here. Way better than Janitor in Danny's opinion, how Mr.Jones does it all he will never know, Danny respects that man more than any deities out there.

When Danny reached the front office he was greeted by Mr.Lancer talking to none other than Sam Manson. “And that's why I think the Ultra-recyclo vegetarian menu would be good for the school!” Sam says enthusiastically. Mr.lancer looked exhausted already.

“Miss. Manson, I appreciate your dedication as well as the quality of your PowerPoint. However I don't think the school board would approve of such an extreme menu shift…” Lancer says.

“I knew you would say that!” Sam says reaching behind her and lifting a large box and placing it on Lancer’s desk, “that's why I want to suggest that we try it out just for today! I went ahead and bought enough to feed the whole school and have some extras for lunch today!” Sam exclaimed.

Mr.Lancer gave a hum in thought, “since you have already made the proper arrangements,” mr.Lancer says as he pulls out a slip of paper to write down on, “I will allow a trial run…” Mr.Lancer says as he writes down a note. Danny could see the beam on Sam’s usually gloomy face. But after experiencing Sam’s new diet first hand he doesn’t think this is going to end well. Especially for Tucker, that kid will throw a fit when he finds out there is now meat on the menu today. Mr.Lancer looks up from Sam and smiles, “ah Mr.Fenton, good to see you are feeling better.” He says, Sam tensed up and turned to look at Danny.

“D-Danny!” Sam says, looking a little red in the face. Ever since last week since he came up from the lab in his boxers she has been acting strange around him, he had an idea why but he hoped he was wrong. “A-are you feeling a-alright?” She asked.

“Hey, Lancer.” Danny says and turns to the younger teen, “hey sam, yeah Im feeling alright, what about you?” He asked.

“I'm good! I gotta go, got a lot to do this morning!” She says while speeding out of the office.

Danny chuckled lightly as she left, “teenagers,” Lancer says as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Good to see you, when you left onSunday saying your parents' invention failed and you needed to go check on your sister. I didn't expect for her to call Monday morning saying you were sick. Did something happen?” The older man asks. Leave it to Lancer to read between the lines of what Jazz had told everyone.

Danny rubbed at the back of his neck again, “haha,” Danny says as he walks over to the seat in front of Lancer's desk, “I kinda had a bit of an accident in the lab, but it’s alright, I swear, just a little shock.” Danny said not looking Lancer in the eye.

“Daniel.” Lancer says in his teaching voice.

“Noooo, not the teacher voiiice.” Danny wines, looking at Lancer. “I mean it, I'm all good. Just a bit of nerve damage.”

“Daniel, that isn't fine. That is serious.” Lancer says letting out an exasperated sigh. “I hope your sister is better than you at staying out of trouble…” he mutters, “well at least you're ok, next time that happens though I want you to tell me immediately.”

“Ok, ok, I get it, you were worried. But I'm here to work, what's on the schedule today?” Danny asked.

With another sigh Mr.Lancer looked down at his papers to see who had requested help for the day, “today I have scheduled you to help out Mr.Franks in the science lab, but considering the circumstances-“ Lancer starts.

“No, that is fine! Lab safety is my thing!” Danny says, interrupting Lancer.

Lancer looked at him for a moment before saying,“…Alright, and then you also have lunch duty today.” At hearing that Danny let out a groan as he leaned back. Lancer smirked, not looking up from the paper.

Suddenly Danny phased through the chair causing him to yelp in surprise, when Danny hit the ground he let out a soft whine before saying, “ow.” Mr.Lancer looked up to see his former student now sitting on the floor.

“Mr.Fenton, are you sure you are alright?” He asked, concern echoed into his face.

Danny groaned, “yeah, I'm fine. My body is just betraying me.” He says. Not wanting to elaborate further Danny stood up and grabbed his back and somehow managed to stay in the chair. “I'm going to go find Mr.Franks and talk to him about today's lab.”

But as Danny reached the door, Lancer spoke up again, “Daniel… Danny, please, if something is wrong or if you are hurt, tell me.”

Danny sighed, “I'm not ready to talk about it…” he says softly, “but, I’ll keep that in mind, thank you.” After that Danny walked through the door leaving Mr.Lancer in though.

Danny walked down the hall as more people started to file into the school, he could feel eyes on him from several people. Danny will admit, he does look odd and out of place even to himself. He may be tall but he had a severe case of baby face, so he was often confused with being a tall child. So he assumed some teens saw him as an overdressed new kid with his navy blue button up paired with his star tie and slacks. He usually wouldn't dress up but his sister insisted that first impressions were always important. And man did Danny hate arguing with his sister. Casper High would win gold or whatever if she joined the debate team.

Danny reached Mr.Franks room and entered the classroom. The teacher looked up from the papers on his desk and with a raised eyebrow said, “class doesn’t start for another hour, i'm not gonna let you sit in here until then.” The man grumbled.

“Actually Mr.Franks, My name is Daniel Fenton, I'm your aid for the day.” Danny says with an easy going smile.

“You're the TA?” Franks asked, not sounding convinced.

“Yep”

“And how old are you?”

“19.”

“Really?” He says, raising both his brows in shock. “Fenton, why is that name familiar…?” He asked as he stood from his desk.

“My little sister is also a student here...” Danny says, hoping he doesn’t make the connection to his parents.

After a stare down from Franks, he lets out a grunt and a shrug before saying, “whatever,” and getting to work explaining to Danny what to do for the lab and what to help the students with as well as what to let them figure out for themselves. After that Danny was given the task to set up the burners and glassware for the experiment.

“Why didn't you start on the first day of school?” Franks asked.

When asked, Danny’s foot phased through the floor causing him to trip up. Danny clutched the glass beakers to his chest as he caught himself on the desk. Archiblob bit his shirt sleeve helping him straighten up.

“I was sick.” Danny finally says once he stood back up.

“Sick?” Franks asked, not really believing him.

Danny didn’t answer, he just continued to get out the required materials for the lab today. By the time Danny was done setting up and getting the printouts ready the first bell rang, letting the students know that class was starting soon.

As students started to trickle in and give him odd looks, Danny hearing the occasional, “who’s this guy?” Whispered between friends and “isn't that fenton? Didn't he graduate already?” No one bothered to greet him. Danny never had many friends in school besides the odd outcast here and there.

“Oh Danny, that you bro?” A voice said pulling him from his thoughts,

speaking of odd, danny thought. “Hey Kyle.”

“You were the smart one! Don't tell me they held you back too!?” Kyle said as he needed the other young adult.

“No, I'm the TA this year, trying to get my teaching degree.” Danny explained.

Danny could hear some of the students begin their gossip and smirked, “you still a senior?” Danny asked.

“Yeah bro, but hey I get to graduate with my lil bro tho so that's pretty dope!” He says, punching Danny’s arm lightly, “you remember Wes, right? Scrawny kid, plays basketball, has bright red Weston hair?”

Danny nodded, “I remember him,” Danny looked at his watch, “but hey, class is starting soon, we can talk during lunch.” He says trying to get Kyle to sit down.

“Haha, dope!” Kyle says as he walks to a desk in the back.

As class began Danny introduced himself to the class and explained—more or less— why he was starting so late. He helped out with the lab for the first class, going into detail about the chemical reactions between chemicals when asked. By the end of class, Danny was getting into the swing of it. As he began to clean up his hands started asking up again causing the glass containers to fall through his hands and shatter on the floor. Danny groaned and left to get a broom before telling everyone to stay clear of the mess.

Danny walked through the hall and felt an odd cold sensation building in his chest, before this happened when a new blob would appear. So Danny decided to look around, trying to find the little lost thing. When he couldnt find it he looked over at his sholour to Archiblob, “you feel that too, blobby?” He whispered. The only response he got was an odd trill that Danny didn't like the sound of. “I don't like it either.” But Danny decided to ignore it for now and just grab the broom and get back to the class.

Danny returned just as the bell for class to let out, as the students filed out of the class Danny swept up the shattered glass on the ground.

“Hah, good job kid!” Mr.Franks says, coming up behind Danny and clapping him on the back. Danny jumped, unintentionally his hand went intangibil once again causing the glass to fall once more. “Ha, you really got to work on your grip.” Mr.Franks says as he walks back to his desk. Danny groaned but felt Archiblob begin to emit a soft rumble trying to calm him. He let out a sigh, this was going to be a long day, Danny thought as he swept the glass up once again.

This pattern of events repeated until lunch time, Danny had never been so relieved to get out of the science lab. As time went on Danny found that he had a hard time keeping his hands tangible, meaning he couldn't hold any glass object for more than a few seconds without it fading through his hands and crashing onto the floor.

It got so bad that Mr.Franks banned him from holding glass for the rest of the day at least. How embarrassing, Danny thought as he made his way to the lunch room.

Since Danny was the teacher's aid he could eat lunch in the teachers lounge if he wanted, but Danny wanted to see his sister. Despite the bad day he was currently having, seeing her would probably make him feel better.

As Danny was walking through the hall he felt a sudden shove to his side, in that split second he tensed up and whatever ran into him passed through him and hit the lockers on his other side. Danny looked over to what crashed beside him and was only slightly shocked to see it was Kyle. He groaned and rubbed his face where he made contact with the lockers. He looked over his shoulder at Danny and grinned, “you’ve gotten better at dodging my hugs!”

Danny looked around and was glad no one was watching them. He let out a sigh and reached out to help Kyle up, “you need to stop running full force into hugs, man.” Danny says, brushing off the whole event.

“But that's not fun.” Kyle comments as he gets to his feet. “Ready for lunch, dude?” He asked.

“As ready as ever,” Danny says, “oh heads up, they're trying a new menu today so don't get your hopes up.” He warns.

“Awww maaan,” Kyle groans, “but it’s meatloaf monday!” He whines causing Danny to laugh. It's nice to actually talk to someone his own age for once.

Danny followed his peer into the cafeteria where he could already see the line of disgruntled teens. Kyle walked forward with a forlorn look in his eyes, mourning the meatloaf that he was excited for. Danny saw Sam, Tucker, and Jazz standing in the front of the line. Danny smiles and walks forward to talk to the younger teens, “Hey guys.” He calls.

”Did you know about this!?” Tucker asked dramatically.

oh no, here we go, Danny thought as he tilted his head and sighed. “About what?” He asked, feigning ignorance.

”that they replaced Meatloaf Monday!?” Tucker bawled. Jazz put her hand sympathetically on Tucker's shoulder and Sam rolled her eyes dramatically.

“You mean: saved you all from eating murdered animals?” Sam asked, jutting her hip our and glaring at her friend.

Tucker looked at her with wide eyes that spoke of betrayal, “It was YOU!” He exclaimed, with the same amount of dramatics as sam.

sam smiled with pride, “yes! I donated todays mean as a test run for a more HEALTH lifestyle!”

”By taking away our right to meat?” Tucker argued.

“By making the school serve actually good food!” Sam shouted back.

”hey, hey, calm down guys,” Jazz says coming between them. She looks at Tucker, “lets try it out, Sam went out of her way to do something she thought was nice for the school.” She says softly.

Danny smiled, proud of his little sister, “she is right, besides, it can't be that bad.” Danny says with a shrug as he walks past his sister and their friends to get in line. Being a TA had its perks, he thought as he passed people in line. However he froze at the sight of a lunch lady that wasn't the usual woman to serve food.

Danny has never really thought of himself as tall, yet when he reached junior year of high school he was shocked to find he towered over his peers. His dad called him a late bloomer and his sister called him a giant, it was honestly really unexpected. So when he saw the humongous green skinned woman that towered over him asking about where the meatloaf was, he couldn't help but feel like he was a child again. “Uhhh….” Was all he could get out before Tucker spoke up.

”She changed the menu,” Tucker says, accusatoralie thumbing over his shoulder at Sam.

The woman paused and with a furrowed brow and looked down at the food in front of her. She tilted her head as she scrutinized the food in the trays, a deep frown making its way on her face. She looked up at the teens, a hardset glare directed at Sam who only stood her ground.

”How dare you…” she started quietly before her voice picked up in volume and she started to glow a vivid green causing the group to falter, “hOW DARE YOU!” She scratched as food from the back began to float out from the back of the kitchen and then all around her, “THE MENU HAS BEEN THE SAME FOR NEARLY TWENTY YEARS, UNTOUCHED. ALL OF THAT RUINED BY A LITTLE GIRL!” she shouts as she begins to float off the ground.

Danny glared up at the woman, now seeing her for what she was, a Ghost. He stepped in front of his little sister and her friends protectively, not tearing his eyes away from the ghost as she began to twitch and glitch like the static of an old VHS that has been damaged. Danny lowered his stance, remembering the smallest bits of fighting style from his mother as he pushed the teens back, “get out of here you three!” Danny shouts, realizing that they were the only ones that seemed to stick back where everyone else ran away.

”But Danny—!” Sam starts.

”No! Get Out of here!” Danny shouts he peeks over his shoulder at the three teens, “she is mad at you Sam, get out of here, I'll hold her off until help arrives.”

“But—!” Jazz tries.

”GO! Danny shouts causing the teens to flinch; unbeknownst to him his eyes flashed green causing the three to startle and run away.

Danny looked back at the woman who seemed sharper yet somehow hazier, lumps of uncooked meat, fruits, and vegetables flew around her in a tornado around her. Danny could feel Archiblob, now visible, growled at the larger ghost. A mouth that he hadn't known the blob had materialized showing off tiny jagged teeth, bared aggressively at the lunch lady.

Danny felt something in the back of his mind, it felt like static as he whispered, “HelpProtect, Mine, DoNotTouch!” Danny didn't know how, but he knew it was Archiblob rumbling at the giant ghost. Yet the woman paid the growl no mind as she threw her arm forward and with it a massive chunk of ground beef came hertling at danny. Danny grabbed the blob and dodged out of the way of the attack.

Danny ran back and slid under the table, instinctually he shifted forms and on the other side of the table he turned invisible. The food formed a mass that looked like fists as they slammed down onto the table, crushing it beneath its weight.

the woman growled and stalked out from behind the counter—or rather floated directly through. She looked all around her with a dazed farel look in her eyes, looking for Sam. “Hurt, Anger, Distrust.” Rumbling from the woman.

Danny grit his teeth and flew forward, he revered back his fist and punched her square in the jaw. Something he never really thought he was capable of doing. The ghost woman flew backwards, caught off guard by the attack. She looked back with wide angry eyes after she hit the wall causing it to crater and crumble.

She threw her hands forward again and Danny was hit head on by a mass of food; the food looked more like mush than food as it pulverized at the force it was thrown. Danny rolled with a rough landing, Danny found himself on his back looking up at the ceiling. Danny groaned and looked over at the angry woman flying closer to him, he sat up fast and looked around trying to think of what to do. He sees a fire alarm and he goes to pull it, the bell rings causing people to peek out of their classrooms. Quickly, Danny shot forward much to the shock of the people lingering in the halls luring away the aggravated woman towards the exit.

Enraged, the ghostly woman ran forward, following after the ghost boy—her massive mass of mush following behind her, coating the halls in gross residue. Just as the two made it outside Danny got hit with a mass of goo and was lifted up into the air and held in front of the lunch lady, her hair falling out of her hairnet and accumulating in little licks of flames.

“What ever happened to a good old meat loaf? Or soup? Kids these days don't know how to feed themselves! Willing to eat anything!” The woman growled.

Danny thought it was a weird thing to be upset about, but who was he to judge? He flinched and braised for impact as she made the mass snake up and head to the ground. But instead the food mass fell apart around him and he tumbled down onto the grass. He looked back up at the lunch lady to see Archablob attacking the woman’s face. Danny was about to fly back at the woman when he thought back to what the woman said, “soup,” he mumbled before smacking his palm against his head, “the thermos!” He exclaimed as he turned invisible and flew back into the school to grab the thermos his father gave him that morning. Danny dug into his bag and found the thermos. Quickly he rushed back out to where his emotional support blob was distracting the ghost woman.

His parents didn't really tell him how to use the damn thing, but judging by the big button on the side, Danny can assume that it opened the lid. Danny stood in front of the woman watching as she tried to smack Archiblob. Danny widened his stance and pointed the thermos at the ghost, “Blobby, get out of the way!” He shouts.

Hearing his name the blob flew away from the seething woman and once Danny saw Blobby was a good distance away he shouts, “soup time!” He pressed the button on the side and the lid popped open, however instead of the vacuum his mom described, soup dribbled out the front. The lunch lady looked at him before flying forward to hit him. “Crud,” he mumbled just as the ghost crashed into him and they flew through a few parked cars in the parking lot.

Danny growled and using the fist with the open thermos backed the woman over the head causing her to let go. Danny looked back down at the thermos while the lunch lady tried to reorient herself. Danny smacked the side of the thermos aggressively before catching sight of a small, near imperceptible switch. Danny sighed, and flipped the switch and suddenly the thermos began to suck the air around him. Danny pointed it forward as the woman started to charge at him only to try and fly out of the beam of the thermos. However the pull was too strong for her and she was sucked in, the cap snapping closed as soon as she was all the way in.

Danny sighed, feeling relief pull in his chest. However the calm was interrupted by a loud cheer that cracked through the silence, making him jump. He looked down and saw a crowd of students had gathered and shouted in excitement at his win. Danny looked around before vanishing in thin air, the crowd seemed to falter at the disappearance. The teachers took charge and corralled the students away from the wreckage. Danny found himself flying over to the side of the school, once he touched down he fell to his knees and transformed back into a human. Danny sighed in exhaustion, the soft trill of Archiblob caught his attention. He looked up and the blob nuzzled into his cheek. Danny laughed tiredly as he sat back on his knees, “hey buddy, thanks for the assist.”

Danny crawled his way over to the wall and leaned back against the school. He held the fenton thermos in hand that contained a ghost of one royalty pissed off lunch lady. Danny was tired to say the least, all he wanted to do was curl up and sleep off the rest of the day, but Danny knew that he had to go back to work eventually. Danny heard his stomach growl at him, the fight had lasted all of lunch and the young man didn't have enough time to even have a bite of whatever Sam had convinced the school to serve for lunch that day. Danny looked down at the thermos once again and let out a sigh.

“Well it's not the first time I skipped a meal…” he mumbled out loud, “man, you really did a number on the cafeteria.” Danny adds, not really thinking the ghost woman could hear him.

Danny let out another sigh and bowed his head, resting on his knees that he curled in front of him at his chest. Archiblob cooed and curled up against his neck. He didn't know what came over him but he continued to speak as if the ghost could hear him, “When Jazzy and I were kids, I would scrounge for whatever non-contaminated food I could find in the house and I would end up giving it all to Jazzy, I went to bed hungry a lot as a kid…” Danny smiled bitterly and stood up. He decides to brush off his pants before continuing his one sided conversation. “Now I stockpile food in my room like we're going to run out even though I make my own money now and can buy food whenever. I just can't help it, it's a force of habit.” Danny grasps the thermos in both hands looking down at it, “I guess, kinda like you and wanting to make sure my little sister ate right,” Danny smiles softly at the thermos, “I’ll put you back into the ghost zone once I'm done with my last class…” Danny walked back to the entrance to try and find his little sister.

Danny and Jazz went home early that day, school let out early due to the Ghost attack. Everyone was confused and in shock, except for their parents. Danny wasn't surprised to see the GAV speeding past them as they made their way home. Jazz didn't say much about the day, Danny tried to talk to her only for her to shut him out and run up to her room as soon as the got home.

Danny sighed for what felt like the hundredth time today as he grabbed the thermos from his back and walked down to the lab, knowing his parents weren't there to question him. He found the blueprints to the Thermos and with some effort he found the machine his parents were working on to charge the thermos. Danny did some tweaking and after some minor trial and error, he modified it to give it a depositing mechanism that he hooked up to the portal in a place his parents wouldn’t notice.

Danny hesitantly locked the thermos into the mechanism and watched as the gauge on the thermos dropped to empty as the woman was deposited into the ghost zone. Danny looked around at the mess of the lab and groaned knowing his parents would want him to clean it up soon. After some internal debate Danny took the blueprints and took it upstairs to his room.

-

The next day a cold mist erupted from his mouth as he sat on his bed, the school day being canceled while they discuss what to do about the damages. Danny sighed and let himself sink through the floor, Archiblob following after him. The portal was open and swirling green, his parents must have left it open, again. Danny sighed as he walked over to close it only to freeze at a familiar tall ghost woman. The lunch lady hovered silently in front of him; the halfa stood tall with an unyielding look in his eyes, ready to fight if he needed to. But after a moment the ghost woman sighed, “hello again dear… I wanted to apologize for yesterday.” She says softly, causing Danny to falter. Danny tilted his head to the side with a raised brow. The woman continued, “I was unaware this was your haunt,” she says, causing Danny to furrow his brows in confusion.

“My what?” He asked without much thought.

the ghost woman looked taken aback, “your home,” she corrected. Danny tensed. The ghost woman looked away from him and let out a sigh, “I wanted to ask your permission to go back to that school and serve those children how they deserve.” The ghost boy was almost surprised she even asked him.

“Why?”

“… I heard what you said…” she admits. Danny falters, “I want to make sure no one in this town goes hungry.” She admits.

Danny sighed and stayed silent for a moment before answering, “if I agree to this we are gonna have to set some ground rules!” He says. The ghost woman’s face lights, “first, you can't attack any of the humans, like ANY of them!” Danny lists, “you also have to make food options for many people, not just one select group of people, for example: Sam doesn’t eat meat, it is her choice not to and it is your job to be able to work around that and manage to still give her a well rounded meal! And finally don’t cause any trouble. I understand that you might get upset if a kid doesn’t want to eat what you make, you can't force them to eat. But you can always be there with some sort of option anyway just in case.”

The lunch lady looks away for a second before looking back at Danny with a determined look in her eyes, “I agree to these terms, Thank you, dearie.” She smiles at the halfa, “this means the world to me, I will try my best to follow your rules. Oh! And have a cookie.” She says with a smile, pulling a cookie out from nowhere.

Danny takes the cookie with a smile, “Ha, thanks! Might I also recommend going to the school and looking through the kids medical files, to make sure they don't have any allergies or anything to food.”

The lunch lady gasps, “oh thank you, young man, for the suggestion!” She says floating up a little bit more, she ruffles Danny's hair causing the young man to laugh, “I'll go do that right now!” She exclaimed happily before taking off.

Danny cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted after her, “be careful of the Ghost hunters!” He exclaimed as she flew through the wall leaving Danny alone in the lab with only Archiblob there chirping at him.
