Chapter Text
Veritas has always been someone who’s not afraid to speak his truth, in his word that the beauty of truth is that it never changes, even when no one understands it. Well now he’s afraid that you might not understand the truest emotion he’s trying to convey, he knows very well that he might not be the most endearing person you’ll ever meet.
But it doesn't deter his resolution to court you for Valentine.
The question that has clouded his mind is how ? he never had thought that his impertinent nature would be a vexing issue in his life. He’s afraid that you might not take his courtship seriously, well given to his track record of declining past suitors for the holiday he can’t blame you if you were to take his feelings as a joke.
With a long sigh he awaits outside your classroom, he reckons that if he were to extend his invitation in public the chance of you taking him seriously would increase. With a bouquet of assorted flowers on his arm, the intricate colours consist of the colours of your eyes and your favourite colours all combined harmoniously.
3 more minutes until the end of your class, he can’t help but let his mind wander towards the realm of possibilities. The worst case scenario is that you would decline his offer with the best being that you did take his inquiry seriously.
Perhaps his mind lingered too long because once he snapped back into reality, students had already begun to flood out of your class. He could hear some students whisper about his existence in front of their professor’s class, “What brings you here Veritas ?, I thought our next meeting was due for another day”, a familiar chuckle lingers beside him.
“Pardon my intrusion but I’m not here to disclose matters about our research,” he replies, it is unusual for him to have his heart rate accelerate this quickly, he finds the tension and the unknown outcome of this conversation to be an issue for his heart, unhealthy and in need of treatment as quickly as possible.
“Oh !, so what do you want to discuss,” you ask, some students behind both you and him have become a silent spectator of some sort, which makes him somewhat shy.
“Here this is for you,” he extends the bouquet he prepared, you carefully wrap your arms around the gracious-sized bouquet. The students around you seem to be in shock, some even start to take their phones out to immortalise the moment.
“On what occasion these beautiful flowers are for, do we have a milestone to celebrate ?” you ask, quite oblivious about the date today, with the amount of work you’ve been managing for the past week it’s quite hard to remember any celebration for today, perhaps you both have won something for your research ?
“Actually I wanted to ask you to be my valentine,” oh that shocks you, to be honest, he can’t be serious, can he ?
“It’s not kind for you to play with a lady’s heart Veritas,” you huff as you use the bouquet to lightly hit his head.
“I’m not–” before he continues his argument however you need to be the bearer of bad news to the poor man in front of you.
“Then why are you wearing your sculpture ?” you ask, with that simple question you render him speechless for a couple of seconds, leaving everyone in the hallway laughing at you both.
“I am ?” he chuckles as he tilts his head down and disintegrates his sculpture into thin air, he must’ve been so preoccupied with his thoughts that he forgot to take off his head sculpture, how embarrassing.
“Yes silly,” you let out a hefty chuckle, you need to forcefully keep your lips pressed tight against each other to stop embarrassing him even further.
“Ah !, pardon my discourtesy,” he tilts his head back up to see your face while studying your expression at the same time, it seems that you are quite amused about his silly mistake.
His face flushed red from embarrassment but at the same time there was a small smile that curved on his lips “You’re pretty cute when you’re blushing,”
“I’m not blushing, don’t stake such frivolous claims,” he scoffs as he folds his arms together, he acts like a kid sometimes it’s refreshing to see him in such a state you thought to yourself.
“So do you want an answer or not ?” you huff as you lean your body toward him.
“Well yes of course,” he replies quickly as he leans down to meet your eyes, the crowd around you both awaits your answer with bated breaths.
“Well, then Veritas It’ll be an honour to be your date, pick me up at 6 ?” you reply as you press a chaste kiss on his cheek, before walking away to attend your next class.
“I’ll see you then,” he mutters as he stands there, his hand caressing the cheek you kissed.
The lingering warmth of your lips has bewitched him.
