Chapter Text
Hungry... Always so hungry.
The Angel hasn't spotted any of the Light or Dark Ones around this area in a long time. Maybe they have finally wised up to him hunting them down. Disappointing, he really could use one of them right now. He needed a very good meal. His formless shape lingered around the boarded dusty windows as he stared longingly at the humans passing by the busy street below.
To be fair, Its been awhile since anyone had tried to come inside either. Either trying to buy or sell the building or some criminal trying to set up shop. He always felt guilty when he had to send one of those ones away, they were just at the wrong place at the wrong time but he still needed to eat, but it still weighed on his mind. It seems not even pigeons or rats would step foot anywhere near the building for some reason, no one would notice any number of them missing in time for a snack.
The Angel would have to leave soon to hunt but he didn't want to. He didn't remember why but he knew he couldn't stay away from this place for very long, he felt a great attachment to this old bookshop, it also served as his hunting grounds. There wasn't much he remember other than the Dark and Light ones where his enemies. Each one he would have to hunt down and they lasted a good time with each time he sent them back as found that he hoped it disrupted whatever they were doing.
He also remembered he wasn't always like this... this horrible monster that preyed on humans, animals and the Dark and Light Ones. But he couldn't remember what he had been, who he had been either, everything was fuzzy. There was someone... someone had promised that they would find him again. He somehow knew this place was his from before he was like this. Maybe that person will find him here.
If he hadn't already sent them away.
So hungry...
Soon a strange whirring noise could be heard, from somewhere down stairs. How curious. Maybe he would get to feed soon after all. He felt that tepid guilt well up inside him as he stamped it down as he crept to the edge of the stairs being careful to avoid the creaking ones to spy on his new prey. He needed to eat as at least he wasn't outright killing those he sends back.
"... A Bookshop? Oh I love old bookshops!" Said a... familiar voice? The angel watched as a figure walked out of an old blue Police Box spinning around looking at the ruins of what was once his. The man coughed a bit stirring the dust up as he waved a hand in front of his face. "Well... looks like someone hasn't taken too good of care of you for a very long time..." he said almost sadly, it tugged at something deep inside him. It wasn't his fault that his claws ripped pages... it was hard to maintain his physical form to clean like this.
The Angel took a deep and unneeded breath, he had to be patient and wait for the prey to travel deeper into the shop, away from any exits or this box that he had appeared in. Cut him off from fleeing and wear him down, the mortals need to blink. Going after the Dark or Light Ones was much harder but he was very good at surprising them. He watched the man mutter to himself as he looked over the bookshelves and their rotting papers with a strange contrite look on his face as he did travel deeper into the shop.
The man whistled sharply into the empty shop, the noise carrying through the emptiness almost made the creature wince as the sound hurt a bit, making him halt in place, still out of view though. "This must of been quite the collection in the day... Most of these are first edition copies.... how this place not been broken into and raided is... miraculous..." he said as the man seemed to talk to himself as the Angel remembered a saying that it was the first sign of madness. He might be a bit more trouble than he thought at first, he would have to be careful.
The Angel moved down the stairs, keeping out of the man's line of sight as he crept up on him as his gaze was on the Cardinal directions marking the pillars. His reminded himself that patience is a virtue and to take things slow as the man began to head towards the backroom. But something must of alerted him as the man had turned suddenly eyes wide as the Angel was forced to freeze in place as his defenses activated. Slow chase it was then.
"No... Nononononono" the man had said, still sounding oh so familiar but was unable to look as he had his eyes covered. "Not one of you." So the man had encountered one like him before? It didn't matter he was patient. Soon he would have him.
He could feel the other blink in his panic as he stepped closer to him as he forced himself to keep it slow, keep him blocked off, no one knew these shelves better than he did. He uncovered his eyes wanting to look at his prey as the other stared him down. The man was rather good at not blinking, how curious but futile.
Why did... why did he seem familiar to the Angel?
The Angel watched as the other began to back away as it seemed the other was ready for the chase as he would map the labyrinth of the bookshop, his own hunting ground, to the mans own demise.
The Angel took advantage as the other ran into one of the shelves as he turned back to check to see if it wasn't another one, no he was always alone. Always alone, but he had looked away as he crept ever so much closer, his hands lowering even more to let the other see him more, watching the strangely familiar person back himself into a corner.
Dear Lord, what was he wearing? That... that wasn't what he usually wore, right? He wouldn't be caught dead in the pinstripe suit and long coat. And were those sandshoes? Black... the Serpent always dressed in black.
And his hair was off as well.. right? While the style was familiar, but sideburns really? The color was was all wrong... wasn't it a vibrant red color not this... muted brown.
Speaking of brown...
The man finally gave in and blinked as the angel stalked further getting ever so much closer. He was so hungry... he could feel his teeth begin to sharpen. The other took a moment to look around as he calmly continued his way to him.
He could remember beautiful amber colored orbs with interesting serpentine slits eyes, now they too were a plain brown. That wasn't right. He must get closer.
He wanted to touch. But not to send him away.
Why?
