    In year one of the era of Hwacheon, the Fourth Prince Jeok-yeon ascended to the throne and threw back the invasion of demons that wreaked havoc across the land. The 42nd Emperor refused to be crowned until after the dead had been honored and all those displaced by the demons’ destruction had found new homes. No emperor’s coronation had ever been delayed so long, but the people were comforted by the blazing barrier that burned throughout the night and drove back the darkness.

     

    This is a prequel of sorts to Consort of Flame and expands slightly on the way I thought the end of Mystic Prince might have happened and didn't. ;)
