a day has passed after jungwon and ni-ki’s bonding ceremony. being that jungwon was a freshly turned pureblood, his body went into a deep slumber. right after the ceremony, he passed out, which is normal.
but that doesn’t mean the young prince was reassured. now that their bond was official, they could feel each other’s emotions and essence. he could feel jungwon’s body going through the turning process, and personally, it’s not a painless experience.
to ensure that jungwon would be happy when he woke up from his slumber, ni-ki decided to look for a kitten. he also decided it would be best for jungwon to have a companion in this new world.
“i never thought i would see the day that my youngest brother would care for somebody else.” prince jay suddenly appeared, catching the young prince petting the black kitten he adopted.
“and i never thought the day i would see you be engaged.” ni-ki said, changing the topic.
“you heard?”
“walls are thin… and royal vampire hearing..” the young prince said with sarcasm.
“whatever. you’re not invited.”
“sunghoon hyung won’t let that happen.” ni-ki said and stuck out his tongue.
but after that, he felt a jolt of pain in his chest area. that only means one thing, jungwon. his solace was in pain.
before anyone could blink, ni-ki teleported himself in jungwon’s room. he was awake, but he was in visible pain.
“jungwon!” ni-ki called out, immediately tending to jungwon, helping him sit down.
“sit down first. i’ll call my brothers. stay here!”
before jungwon could even process everything, he felt like a whole new person. he could hear everything. he could hear footsteps, heartbeats, it was so overwhelming. but one particular presence calmed him down. his warrior was here.
ni-ki and prince sunghoon teleported to his room, both looking at him with concern. with ni-ki close to him, he could handle the sensory stimulation of his surroundings.
“ni-ki… stay here…” jungwon managed to let out, his body felt very weak.
“stay beside your solace. he needs you.” prince sunghoon says, instructing ni-ki to sit down beside jungwon on the bed.
if vampires still had a functioning heart, that sentence would make ni-ki’s heart skip a beat. his solace needs him.
“how are you feeling, jungwon?”
“overwhelmed. i can hear everything… it was so loud… but it calmed down when ni-ki entered the room…”
“that’s how your bond works. you need to stick to him like glue in this crucial first days after your transition. by doing this, i assure you, your transition to vampirism will be smooth.”
“i like the sound of that. how long was i out?”
“a day. i could feel everything.”
“your body is physically strong. some purebloods can take up to weeks to wake up. rest up for the rest of the day, i’ll have the servers take care of you and ni-ki.” prince sunghoon said and teleported out of the room to give the two privacy.
ni-ki held jungwon’s hand, gently caressing it. jungwon recognized the gesture as ni-ki trying to soothe his pain.
“do you need anything? i was so worried for you.”
“you came immediately to help me, and that’s all i need. with you by my side, i don’t feel any sensory distress.”
“you must be hungry. do you want to eat?”
“i… i’m not craving for human food.”
silence. jungwon couldn’t believe he just said that. he was nervous about what ni-ki will react.
“oh? do you want me?”
if jungwon was still human, blood would’ve rushed to this face, making him blush.
“i mean… do you want my blood?”
“i wouldn’t dare to ask for such a thing…”
“nonsense. my blood is for my solace.”
jungwon doesn’t know if the bond made them more attracted to each other, but he doesn’t mind it. who wouldn’t want to feel wanted and special?
“bite me. my blood is for you. it’ll also speed up your transition process.” ni-ki said and pointed to his neck.
“what if i hurt you?”
“you won’t. i’ll make sure of it.”
“i don’t want to drain your blood.”
“you won’t. trust me?”
“i trust you.”
jungwon positioned himself to comfortably bite ni-ki’s neck. he could feel his newly found vampire instincts activate the moment he let his fangs out.
he took a deep breath and sunked his fangs into ni-ki’s neck. his blood was the best thing he had tasted. the taste was otherworldly. it was made just for him.
jungwon felt a hand on nape, and he slowly detached himself from ni-ki’s neck.
“see? nothing bad happened. my blood is for you.”
“i feel stronger… my hunger is satisfied…”
“when vampires are bonded, their blood tastes like your most favorite thing in the world.”
“how will i feed on a normal basis? i can’t always feed from you!”
“we have willing vampires who donate their blood to us. you don’t have to worry about biting me, i enjoy it.”
jungwon was sure that the bond made them more attracted and honest to each other. he didn’t mind this side effect at all.
“are we supposed to stay here for the whole day?”
“yes. you need to rest. the more you rest, the faster your transition process will be.”
“are you… will you… will you stay in this bed with me until later?”
“of course. we need each other. we are bonded now.”
“i have a gift for you, by the way.”
suddenly, a black kitten appeared on the bed with them. jungwon instantly smiled.
“knight!” jungwon said, hugging the kitten.
“i hope knight will make your stay here easier. that’s a real cat this time.”
“definitely! i am already in love!” jungwon said, peppering the kitten with kisses all over his face.
“how come when i was a cat you didn’t kiss me like that?” ni-ki pouts.
adorable. jungwon never imagined a vampire could be this cute.
“is that your way of asking to be kissed?”
jungwon absolutely did not know where that confidence came from, but saying it felt right.
“i want to earn my first kiss from you, hmm? i have another gift fot you.”
“why are you spoiling me? you’ve already done so much for me.”
“not as much as you did. let me spoil you, okay? i already asked sunghoon hyung for this. he allowed us to visit the demon kingdom. once you’re feeling better, you can go see your brother.”
“really?! you did that for me?”
“anything for my solace. i’ll stay close to you so you can get better faster.”
jungwon felt overwhelmed by love. a month ago, his life was so different, so mundane, but now, he had a whole prince wrapped around his finger.
a whole week has passed and jungwon is finally feeling better. within a few days, he learned how to control his newly heightened vampire senses. with the help of three princes and captain heeseung, his transition to vampirism went smoothly.
“pack clothes good for three days. we leave tomorrow.” prince sunghoon told jungwon over dinner.
“thank you. i haven’t seen my brother in four years.”
“i have already notified demon prince yongbok, our visit will come as a surprise to your brother.”
“i see. how will we go there?”
“jungwon, you’re a vampire now. we will travel through magic.” prince jay reminds.
“right… i thought we were going to travel there by foot or by car.”
“you’re adorable. almost all supernaturals have the ability to teleport.” ni-ki adds.
“rest well as you will use a significant amount of your energy to teleport tomorrow.” captain heeseung adds to the conversation.
“only me, captain heeseung, assistant captain jake, and prince ni-ki will go with you to the demon kingdom tomorrow. prince jay requested to stay to spend time with his mate.”
“that’s totally understandable. i can’t express how thankful i am for this opportunity.”
“anything for my solace.”
it was finally the day where jungwon would go see his brother again after four years. he was excited and at the same time scared of what happened to his brother all those years.
“shall we?” ni-ki says, offering his hand. the signal that they were going to teleport to the demon kingdom.
“hold my hand tightly.” ni-ki commanded softly.
jungwon followed his order and closed his eyes, he then felt a sensation he never felt before. it was as if his soul was leaving his body. it was a scary feeling, but he knew ni-ki would never harm him nor let go of his hand.
“you can open your eyes now.”
once jungwon opened his eyes, they were in a throne room of a different kingdom. he saw prince sunghoon alongside captain heeseung and assistant captain jake.
“welcome to the kingdom of daemonium. it is always a pleasure to be visited by the kingdom of sanguis.” an attractive man wearing royal clothes spoke, jungwon concluded that this was the prince yongbok that they were talking about. that also means he’s the soulmate of jungwon’s brother.
“always a pleasure to have you as allies. i have already discussed the reason for our visit.”
“thank you for this opportunity, prince sunghoon. as usual, your appearance and whereabouts will only be known by my most trusted soldiers. jeongin will be here any minute.”
a few seconds later, a demon appeared right in front of jungwon. he immediately recognized him and hugged him tightly.
“hyung!”
“jungwon! you’re here! i never thought i would see you again!”
“i’ll give you two privacy.” prince yongbok stated, after that, everyone teleported out of the throne room, leaving the two brothers.
“i also never thought i would see you again. you’re a demon now! you have ashy skin!”
“you’re a vampire now! how did you end up here?”
“like you, i’m bonded to one of them. i’m bonded to prince ni-ki.”
“i guess we were always meant for the supernatural life. what about our parents…?”
“i requested the same memory spell you used, but with blood magic.”
“so you live in sanguis now? i’ll definitely visit you more often.”
“i would like that, tell me all about your life. how did you transition to a demon?”
meanwhile, on the other side of the castle, prince sunghoon and captain heeseung were having an argument.
“i told you, as the captain of the army, it was not the brightest idea for you to accompany us on this trip.”
“i can handle myself, heeseung, it was my decision to go on this trip. i know the consequences of one or two demons knowing what i look like. no need to be overprotective.”
the rage was building up inside prince sunghoon, and at that moment, he casted a silent spell in the room. now, nobody could hear them. he would be free to talk about his feelings.
“you’re the crown prince, it is my number one priority to keep you safe.”
“bullshit!”
captain heeseung didn’t expect prince sunghoon to respond that way.
“what? that’s my job, i swore an oath to protect the royal family. you’re the most important in the family. you’re my priority.”
“that’s the problem!”
“hoon, calm down…” captain heeseung tried to hold the prince’s hand.
“that’s the problem! i’m the crown prince, hee! i can have anything in the world that I want. but the one that i want is you… and you don’t even want me.”
silence. both of them knew this was an overdue conversation. captain heeseung just didn’t expect that they would have this conversation in the demon kingdom.
“it’s not that i don’t want you…”
“then what is it, heeseung? am i not enough for you?”
“no! it’s not that…”
“then what is it?! you know i’ll give you the world. you know… you know that, heeseung. i’ll give you everything.” the crown prince of sanguis officially lost his composure.
“why don’t you want me? is there someone else? i have loved you since we were children…”
“answer me, heeseung! why don’t you want me?”
“i don’t know! i don’t know what i want, sunghoon! i don’t feel a magical bond between us!”
“my feelings are worth more than a bond! just say you don’t want me and i’ll stop… just tell me that there’s someone else…”
“no one. there’s no one in my life, hoonie but….”
“don’t call me that. you can’t call me that nickname after breaking my heart.”
“i’m a mess. i lost composure. don’t you see how much i love you, heeseung? i… i would give up the throne if that meant i would be with you…”
“don’t say that. don’t give up anything for me.”
“then why? you haven’t answered my question! why don’t you want me?”
“you deserve better than me.”
“but i want you. can’t you see that? i want you! to hell with all the formalities and rules. i want you.”
a tear fell from prince sunghoon’s eye. he was a mess. he doesn’t know what came over him, but he exploded. years of sending hints… years of yearning… his heart was tired.
“i’m sorry, sunghoon.”
prince sunghoon took a deep breath and pulled himself together. he can’t fall apart.
“extend my gratitude to prince yongbok, let him know i fell ill and went back to the kingdom. not a soul must know about this conversation.” that was the last thing the prince said before teleporting back to sanguis.
captain heeseung fell to the floor on his knees. what has he done?
amidst all the chaos happening, the yang brothers were in the throne room, happily catching up about what happened in their lives for the past four years.
“it’s such a coincidence that we both ended up bonded to princes.” jungwon said.
“maybe it’s our destiny, maybe it’s a family thing. but either way, i’m happier as a demon.”
“i’m glad. i’m still new to the supernatural world, but i got ni-ki and his brothers.”
“i’m happy that you are in good hands.”
“i am. i’ll introduce you to ni-ki.”
the first thing jungwon learned after he got better was how to communicate with ni-ki through his mind. it wasn’t a hard task at all, especially when the young prince was wrapped around his finger, ready to do anything for him.
“ni-ki, i want to see you.” jungwon communicated telepathically.
not even a second has passed, ni-ki appeared right before them in the throne room.
“you called, jungwon?”
“so you really are at my brother’s beck and call?” jeongin said teasingly.
“well… yes… he’s my solace.”
“take care of him for me. i’ll lead you to the dining room, my love has prepared a feast for us.”
jungwon took a look at the interior of the castle, it’s similar to the castle in sanguis, but you can clearly tell that this is a demon kingdom. there were skull designs and almost every corner was covered in pitch black paint.
they reached the dining room, it was lavish, with a big long table and chairs adorned with gold. it’s so different from how he and his brother grew up. it must’ve taken a while for jeongin to get used to the luxury.
“greetings! welcome to my castle. i ordered a feast to be served. i hope you like it.” prince yongbok said.
“thank you for your hospitality.” jungwon replied with a smile.
“please, make yourself at home and eat as much as you like. do you have an idea on prince sunghoon’s whereabouts?”
the moment prince sunghoon’s name was mentioned, captain heeseung appeared in the dining room, looking disheveled.
“i apologize your majesty, the prince had to go back to sanguis for a royal duty, it was quite the emergency.” captain heeseung stated.
“that’s unfortunate. but you know that our kingdom is always open for sanguis.”
ni-ki got a feeling that both of them were covering up for something. this was out of prince sunghoon’s character. something must’ve happened, and he will get to the bottom of it.
after the feast, jeongin invited ni-ki and jungwon to explore the kingdom of daemonium. they quickly accepted the offer, but they had an army of demon soldiers accompanying them, alongside captain heeseung and assistant captain jake. they felt safe enough to go out as they were going to be accompanied by a lot of soldiers.
“how different are demons compared to vampires?” jungwon asks ni-ki while they were walking outside of the castle.
“not that different from what i know, we come from the same ancestors. but demons are more mischievous, while vampires are known to be possessive like werewolves.”
“stop walking.” they heard captain heeseung command, it was the first time jungwon heard his voice to be that commanding.
ni-ki felt jungwon’s fear and immediately held his hand. it was a huge risk for them to go outside of the castle, and he feared the worst.
“what’s wrong, captain heeseung?” jeongin asks.
jungwon remembers that demons don’t have the same heightened senses as vampires. captain heeseung must’ve sensed danger.
“how trained are your demon soldiers?” captain heeseung asks.
jungwon was now scared for his life. he noticed that they were already outside of the castle gate. the castle is the safest place in the kingdom as it is protected with the strongest magic, but now they didn’t have that kind of protection,
“high ranking sold-” jeongin had no chance to finish his sentence, captain heeseung already drew out his sword and stabbed the figure who appeared right in front of him. it all happened so quickly.
“ghouls!” assistant captain jake shouted, and drew out his sword. they must’ve sensed ni-ki’s essence. dark entities are attracted to royal vampire essence as it gives them the power of the moon. having this means they could use anyone's energy and aura, and would be able to control the tides nearby.
“prince ni-ki, return back to the castle immediately! they are after you!” assistant captain jake ordered.
but it was too late, a ghoul was standing right in front of jungwon and ni-ki. the young prince immediately casted a sword to appear in his hand.
jungwon stood there frozen in shock, he was not built for this. he had no prior training in handling situations like this. it does not help that he can not control his own power yet. the young prince could feel all the fear that jungwon was feeling, and he knew he had to do whatever it takes to get out of this situation safely.
the ghoul sensed jungwon’s aura, and immediately knew that they were bonded. which means hurting jungwon would distract ni-ki, and they would be able to take his essence.
but the ghoul underestimated the young prince, he immediately knew what he was planning. despite the ghoul being a foot taller, ni-ki wasted no time in stabbing him right in the stomach.
“run!” ni-ki told jungwon and they proceeded to run back to the castle gate. they were both not in the right mind to teleport back to the castle, especially since jungwon was still learning. teleporting takes up a huge chunk of his energy.
jungwon was in survival mode, he finally knew first hand how dangerous the supernatural world was. but despite this, he knew that ni-ki won’t let anything happen to him.
they were so close to reaching the castle gates, when two ghouls appeared right in front of them. they both look around the surroundings. the demon soldiers were busy fighting the remaining six ghouls and protecting jeongin, while captain heeseung and assistant captain jake were using their magic to help.
“shit.” ni-ki uttered, realizing that they were on their own.
“no matter what you do, never let go of my hand.”
ni-ki knew what was the ghoul’s strategy, seeing that they were aiming for jungwon, and before the ghoul could even lay a hand on jungwon, ni-ki casted a spell on them, lighting them on fire.
“don’t touch him!” ni-ki shouted, the land started to shake and the fire was quickly burning the ghouls alive.
before jungwon could even process what was happening, ni-ki used his remaining energy to teleport them back inside the castle. as soon as they were inside, both jungwon and ni-ki fainted on the carpet.
darkness.
jungwon opened his eyes, and he was back in his room in sanguis! he looked to his side and ni-ki was beside him, seemingly in a deep slumber. the last thing he remembered was them fainting in the castle in daemonium.
“thank the moon goddess and you’re awake!” prince sunghoon exclaimed.
“what happened?”
“it was a surprise attack by the ghouls, the moment they sensed ni-ki’s essence, fifteen ghouls went ahead and attacked you.”
“what about my brother? captain heeseung?”
“they are all safe. captain heeseung casted a spell for the four of you to come back immediately.”
“royal vampire essence is really dangerous…”
“it’s the price that we pay for having unlimited abilities. we may have the abilities, but our lives are constantly in danger the moment we set foot outside of our castles.”
“what happened to my brother?”
“he’s fine. the demon soldiers owed loyalty to the demon prince, so they protected him with their lives. prince yongbok deeply apologized for everything.”
“will this affect your relationship with their kingdom? you know… politics..”
“no. this was an accident and a surprise attack. we have been allies with their kingdom for centuries. this was just an unfortunate event. don’t worry, you can still visit your brother any time.”
“nguhh..” they heard ni-ki start to wake from his slumber.
“this was the first time my brother actually used his magic. it took a huge toll on his energy, especially since he used fire.”
“i can actually feel how tired he is… he really used all of his energy.”
“ni-ki is still rather young. the older the royal vampire is, the stronger they are.”
“acting like you are sooo much older than i am.” ni-ki suddenly spoke.
“i’m glad you’re awake brother. i prepared you gallons of apple juice to help you regain your energy.”
“what happened with you and heeseung hyung?” ni-ki said, cutting to the chase.
the room was silent. jungwon had no clue why ni-ki asked that, and prince sunghoon knew exactly why he was asking that.
“don’t you want to rest first?” prince sunghoon said, trying to dodge the topic.
“don’t change the topic hyung. whatever you tell jungwon and i will be kept as a secret.”
jungwon felt touched that ni-ki trusted him that much.
“what do you mean?”
“oh come on! i know something happened between you and heeseung hyung!”
“my brother over here has been pining over heeseung hyung for years.” ni-ki communicated with jungwon telepathically.
jungwon was shocked, he didn’t expect it all. but… he also noticed that assistant captain jake also had feelings for captain heeseung. what will happen now…?
“hey! don’t talk in your mind!” prince sunghoon whined.
prince sunghoon sighed and casted a silent spell in jungwon’s room. he made sure nobody would be able to hear their further conversations.
“we… we fought.”
“about what?”
“you know what it's about!”
“i want to hear it from you, hyung. you have to let it out. jungwon and i are here to listen.”
jungwon was listening silently and attentively to their conversation, it felt like he was intruding, as he felt this should be a private conversation between the brothers alone.
“i just don’t understand why he can’t acknowledge my feelings? i’ve literally loved him even before you were born. the moment he was brought to this castle and became my friend, i knew..”
“i don’t understand, ni-ki. i really don’t. i’ve always pride myself in being composed and knowing what to do, but for the first time, i don’t know what to do. i don’t know if he’s my bonded one, but i know he’s the one for me…”
“sounds like you need to ask him that, hyung. ask if him he feels the same way.”
“i already did, and he just… he just said i deserve better. i don’t want anyone better, i want him.”
that was when jungwon realized, the brothers loved deeply more than anyone. he saw how prince jay talked and did things for sunoo, and he felt how ni-ki adored and spoiled him.
“sorry jungwon, i just-”
“don’t apologize. right now, you are here with us as a person and as ni-ki’s brother, not as someone with a royal title.”
“you and jay are so lucky to have found your bonded ones, and for them to be a perfect match.”
bonded ones… jungwon knew the answer to prince sunghoon’s dilemma.
“have you ever considered that you and captain heeseung might have a karmic bond…?” jungwon asked.
the room fell silent. both brothers knew that jungwon was right.
“excuse me, i have a captain to persuade.” prince sunghoon said and vanished.
“you’re so smart, jungwon! i didn’t even think of that.”
“i don’t know much yet about the bonds and stuff, but it’s a possibility.”
“where’s knight? where does he stay?”
“i asked sunoo hyung to take care of him for a bit. i didn’t know the trip was going to turn out this way.”
“shhh, ni-ki. it’s not your fault. this was an accident. you used all your energy just to save me, isn’t that dangerous?”
“it was.. but…”
“ni-ki..”
“people would have to die first before they can touch you.”
this guy is crazy… in a good way, jungwon thought to himself.
“i’m currently the youngest royal vampire, so my essence is rather unique. that’s why my brothers are overprotective of me.”
“now i know from first hand experience how dangerous the supernatural world is.”
“hmm… you’re right.” ni-ki answered, slowly laying down to rest again.
“let’s sleep jungwon, i still need energy.”
jungwon noticed that when ni-ki is sleeping, he resembles a cute duck. this put a smile on his face. he closed his eyes and went to dreamland.
hours later, jungwon woke up in a shock. he had an interesting dream. he looked over to his side, and ni-ki was still sleeping peacefully. he stood up and left his room. he needed air.
he was now pacing back and forth in front of his door, trying to calm himself down. why did he have to dream about that?
fully engrossed in his thoughts, jungwon didn’t notice assistant captain jake and sunoo walking towards him.
“jungwon? what’s wrong?” sunoo asks.
“nothing… just needed air…”
“do you want me to bring you to the rooftop? prince ni-ki often goes there to calm down.”
jungwon tries not to panic with the mention of his name. oh god. this is embarrassing. he’s acting like a high schooler.
“hey? are you okay?” sunoo asks again.
“do i need to call prince ni-ki?” assistant captain jake asks.
“NO! don’t!”
“huh? did you two fight?” sunoo asks.
“no no no. i… I… take me to the rooftop!”
jungwon desperately needs to get that dream out of his head.
they both lead jungwon to the rooftop, both knowing that something was up.
“once prince ni-ki wakes up, this should be fixed.” assistant captain jake whispers to sunoo.
“i know that look. he’s shy, he’s panicking.” sunoo answers.
“hey! i can hear you!” jungwon whines.
“then what’s up? what’s got you all hot and bothered?” sunoo asks.
“what did prince ni-ki do?” he adds.
“nothing! absolutely nothing! don’t mind me, i just need air.”
“you’ve been pacing back and forth for the last five minutes. prince ni-ki can wake up any minute now.” assistant captain jake says.
“hey.” speaking of the devil, ni-ki suddenly appeared at the rooftop.
jungwon felt like he was going to faint. he can not handle seeing ni-ki right now.
“what’s wrong, jungwon? i can feel you… what’s making you so nervous?” ni-ki aks.
sunoo puts the pieces together. it was ni-ki making jungwon nervous.
“nothing!” jungwon says and runs away from the rooftop.
sunoo and jake bursted out laughing. young love.
“what? huh? what just happened?” ni-ki asks, this is all happening too fast for him.
“you might want to calm your solace down.” sunoo says.
jungwon didn’t know how he did it, but he found his way back to his room, but then ni-ki suddenly appeared in front of him. he feels silly, did he seriously think he would be able to hide from a royal vampire that’s bonded to him?
“jungwon, talk to me. i can feel your emotions. they are all over the place. what’s happening, my solace?”
“idreamtofuskissing.”
“what?”
“idreamtotfuskissing...”
“i don’t understand…”
“i dreamt of us kissing!!” jungwon says, feeling so shy. he wishes the ground would swallow him right now.
ni-ki laughs. oh, jungwon is so adorable.
“why are you laughing? i feel so indecent. i shouldn’t be dreaming about those things.”
“oh baby, i know. i knew that you were dreaming about me.”
“you what?!”
“i’m able to feel and see your dreams. now… do you want me to make your dreams come true?”
“...what….?” jungwon was still feeling shy, he felt like he shouldn’t be dreaming about those things.
“i want to make your dreams come true. can i kiss you, jungwon?”
this isn’t a dream. he wants to kiss me, jungwon thought.
people say make your dreams come true , “kiss me.”
ni-ki leaned in and pressed their lips together softly. it was everything they could imagine and more. they were both glad that they were experiencing their first kiss with each other.
catching their breaths, they break the kiss. both in cloud nine. it was perfect.
“bite me, ni-ki.” jungwon said under his breath.
why would ni-ki disobey his solace? his wish is my command.
he leaned in closer again and sunk his fangs into jungwon’s neck, creating a euphoric feeling for the both of them, making their first kiss a more intimate experience.
