Work Text:
The marriage law is all anyone could talk about. Who they would be partnered with, who they would have kids with, and who they would have to learn about. Some worried about whether they would be with someone who treated them poorly. They just had to have faith that the form they filled out would give them their best match possible.
The Weasleys, Harry, and Hermione were all sitting at the burrow waiting for the letters to arrive. Today was the day they would receive their “perfect match.” Unknown to most of them two people were hoping they got each other so they did not have to break up. The owls started flying in through the window and the unmarried started grabbing their envelopes that were dropped.
Hermione gripped her and said a silent prayer, she wanted it, no need, it to say Percy.
Molly stood up, and said, “Alright youngest to oldest.”
Ginny opened hers, “I got Blaise Zabini. There are worse people out there I suppose.”
Ron opened his next, “I got Lavender Brown.”
Harry opened his next, “Pansy Parkinson. Well, that should be fun.”
Hermione gripped her letter tighter and took a deep breath, scanning hers for the name. She could almost shout with joy!
“I got Percy,” Hermione told the group. They shared a secret look, both relieved and happy.
“Oi why would they put you with him? You can’t have anything in common minus being know-it-alls,” Ron shouted.
“Oh shush it, Ron. Hermione darling, we're excited you will be joining the family even if it’s not with who we thought you’d end up with,” Molly says.
“I’m right here you know? There is nothing wrong with me being chosen for Hermione. I bet we have a lot in common than you think Ronald,” Percy snips at his younger brother.
“Even though I’m shocked, I think the ministry knew what they were doing putting them together. Think of how smart their children will be. Or the two together alone could overthrow the ministry.,” Harry said.
“I don’t know if they can get a house big enough for all their books and research projects,” George snickered.
Oh, if they only knew that Hermione and Percy started dating after the war had ended, they would lose their minds. Hermione was excited she would get to start planning their dream wedding, they have talked about it briefly but not a lot.
