Chapter Text
September 5th
Oh god, This was the day. It was Colin's first day actually working as a teacher at a school. He had worked at the same school before, but he was the soccer coach, now he was an assistant math teacher?! Colin was only twenty three after all. Well from now on there was no going back. He was not Colin anymore, he was Mr.A.
He was also especially nervous about his partner that he would be teaching with, Kiro. Sure, he had met him a few weeks prior when he was getting hired. Also of course for setting up the room, you had to at least know something about the guy you were going to teach with for a whole school year.
To put it simply, he was nervous as hell.
He made sure to arrive at the school extra early so that it would be easier to introduce himself to his students. He was second guessing himself on everything; is his introduction good enough? Were his clothes too weird? Would the rest of the school staff accept him? To be fair, the oversized hockey sweater did look a bit weird. All of these questions were swirling around in his head until he saw a man getting out of a sleek black car. He did not know why his eyes were watching the man. Suddenly he saw the man go into the same door that he was going to go through, the same classroom he was teaching in. Oh god, it was Kiro.
“Oh sup, Colin. You ready to start the day?” Kiro asked casually.
Colin must have looked as nervous as he was because Kiro quickly Interjected again.
“It's all good y'know, I'm sure you're ready to introduce yourself to the students.” Kiro said in a sympathetic tone.
“Oh, yeah, totally-” Colin said embarrassed.
Colin thought he must look like a total nervous wreck to Kiro. To be fair, he kind of did. It was not Kiro's first time at this so it must be easier for him. At least he saw on the schedule that today would just be icebreakers so that he could at least find the tone of what the rest of the school year would be like.
“Well, um, after you.” Colin said, opening the backdoor that led to the classroom.
“Thanks man.” Kiro replied as he stepped into the classroom.

The school day went, fine. It was definitely better than how Colin had feared it was going to go.
He thought that kids weren't that bad as he assumed, but you can never be too sure.
Colin had done the bare minimum for the next day before he quickly left as fast as he could to try and keep the stress off for now. Colin knew that he probably should have done some more before he left, but he had a lot to do. He had to go to school and his other job, at least that's what he told himself.
As Colin was walking to his red bug, he noticed Kiro was also walking to his (much nicer) car.
Colin thought about saying something to him, but his nervous tendencies got the best of him, and he decided to just continue. Maybe then he could get home a bit earlier and clean up or make something to eat-knock knock. It was Kiro knocking at his car window
“Hi, sorry if this is weird. I just wanted to say I think you did a good job today. With the kids…and stuff y’know.” Kiro said through Colin’s car window.
God Colin was so shocked by Kiro’s sudden words. There was something…something…that he had never felt before, from anything he had ever felt. He couldn’t tell if it felt nice? Bad? It was definitely strange to say for Colin at least.
Colin didn't know what to say, he looked dumbstruck.
“Didn’t mean to startle you! Guess I’ll be seeing you around!” Kiro said, flashing him one of his signature smiles.
“Thank You-It was-is a pleasure to work with you for this, hopefully good school year.” Colin responded back to Kiro with an awkward laugh at the end, Why was this so hard for him?!
“You too!” Kiro said as he was walking back to his own car.
Colin did not know the hell was happening to him, but as he learned from advice, (probably not good advice) when you have problems you don’t know how to deal with-Just ignore them!
Guess that’s what he was going to do…
Colin decided in his car to not think about it much and focus on other things. More important things-When were Colin’s feelings ever a priority to anyone. He just learned to ignore them and not think about it.
He still had to eat though, so he decided to stop by the grocery store… As he walks in you know who he sees… that’s right, it’s Kiro! Out in the flesh.
At first Colin thought to just ignore him or pretend like he didn’t notice him- oh too late, Kiro already got to him.
“Oh! Look who it is, It’s Colin! Funny seeing you here again.” Kiro said, practically beaming at Colin for some reason.
“Oh, yeah-you too. Do you live around here?” Colin said, maybe he could actually have a decent conversation with a human being! He was pretty bad at it though.
“Yeah, actually I do! What about you, you’re from Virginia right?”
“Yeah, the city here is definitely different than in Virginia.” God! This weird feeling was back again! Why does this always happen to him when he’s talking to Kiro? Maybe he actually shouldn’t neglect his emotions for once. But it’s Colin, now why would he do that.
“Well, if you ever need anything, I’m always here.” Kiro said genuinely in a warm tone.
Colin Oh-faced by Kiro saying something to him twice in one day-that’s a new record for anyone. Colin gently flushed as he said good-bye to Kiro and quickly went back to his car. How was he ever going to have to talk to Kiro every day for ten months...
