Minecraft: Undying love

Summary:

Steve is the last immortal man, he roamed around the world, finding ways to cope and comfort himself after years of despair and loneliness. He traveled far and wide, to search and slay the dragon that imprisoned his ancestors in another world while being accompanied by a "companion", who happens to be a mysterious entity named Herobrine.

His life was about to change forever, when his "companion" left him a vague and eerie message, telling him that he was not the last immortal man in the world, and to find a mysterious woman, giving him hope to crave true companionship and friendship Steve has always wanted, or rather... something more.

Chapter 1: The mimic

Notes:

This is my first time writing a fic, so feedback is very much appreciated! It is also worth noting that this story of the same name is also in Wattpad, to which most chapters are posted a few days after the chapters are posted in ao3. In Wattpad, you get access to other illustrations, background music, and even other extra chapters. Enjoy the story!

ps: I do not own minecraft or the characters, they all belong exclusively to Mojang.

Chapter Text

Within the deep meadows, bright green grasslands spread throughout the uninteresting and featureless plain. Fields are filled with random, colorful flowers growing in haphazard spots. Several trees are sprinkled randomly within the plains. The breeze continued to whisper as the sky was blanketed with a soft blue curtain. Clusters of clouds drifted slowly across the sky Within the bright birch forest, there was only one man within the empty world, wearing a teal shirt and dark blue pants, accompanied by his black shoes. His main tool and weapon are diamond pickaxe and iron axe strapped that are strapped around his back. He carried a large inventory within his belt filled with items such as food and several blocks of items, or random dirt blocks or cobble.

He traveled far and wide, visited every biome, from deep caves where old dusty mineshafts can be found, sacred monuments drowned in the deep ocean, desert temples left abandoned with hidden treasures and traps. Not a single person can be found. All he found were traces of human activity, infrastructures that are mostly dilapidated.

The man spent years all alone, as the base he made slowly turned into a nice and cozy house, but never a nice home. The only company he had was from the vast emptiness of the world, accompanied with bizarre phenomena, like floating trees that defied gravity even after being cut, or the forbidden rule of sleeping in a hellish dimension.

That man’s name is Steve. The last immortal man on Earth.

Steve traveled far and wide, though most of his explorations would always end up in vain. At this point, he would have been much happier to die, but death is not even an option for him. His immortality is a curse to he has to live with until the end of time. No matter how many times he dies, or how bizarre his deaths may seem, Steve would always end up going back, or to what he calls it, "respawning."

Steve rubbed his bushy beard that gave the illusion of a smile on his face, growing thick as the years went by. He traveled far greater distances than he’d ever realized, his map growing larger each step he took.

“I’ve already visited this place,” he muttered to himself as he looked within the familiar surroundings of the birch forest.

He became accustomed to talking to himself, blurting out his thoughts most of the time. As Steve strolled within the surroundings, it took a while for him to realize that the bushy trees in the environment slowly transitioned, from the birch tree barks to oak tree barks. It wasn't the most bizarre thing, but Steve noticed, every step he took, the trees had barely a single leaf on their branches.

Huh? Where’s the leaves? Hadn’t I been in this forest before?

Steve looked around as he rubbed his eyes, not believing what he was seeing. Nevertheless, he continued walking, as a light fog had started to set within the eerie naked forest that Steve traversed. It wasn’t hard to explore since the fog wasn’t too thick to block visibility. It was the first time he had encountered such a bizarre phenomenon.

This is weird, I’ve been to other bizarre places like the Nether, but this has never happened before…

He looked around, before he found a pair of white lights from a distance.

“Hello? Is someone there?” Steve called out as he stared at the pair of lights.

He stepped closer, and when Steve finally found the source of the lights, the sight almost made him believe that he was looking straight through a mirror.

Teal shirt. Dark blue pants. Tan skin. Dark brown hair. And a pair of white forbidding eyes.

There was only silence, but fear enveloped around his surroundings the moment Steve saw the figure in front of him. Steve shook his head, and within the blink of an eye, the figure disappeared, leaving Steve to ponder what he just saw. As if seeing the figure wasn’t enough, his ears perked up to several breeze sounds that became whispers.

Steve flinched at the soft eerie whispers. He looked around him, trying to see where the source of the sound came from.

The eerie whispers sent cold goosebumps that crawled at his skin, not knowing what the whispers meant. What does it all mean? It wasn’t long before the whispers started to overlap with one another, the sentences jumbling all together as it formed an incoherent noise. Steve could no longer understand what it all meant. After finding the last of his courage; Steve found himself sprinting away from the foggy leafless forest, his breaths lapsing in and out of his lungs. He never stopped running. He never looked back.
