12PM. Emerald hair throws itself about as a figure turns over again in bed. Aside from the a/c keeping the room cool, all seemed quiet this time of night. Pomu had left the dorm a few weeks ago, but she wasn't usually up this late anyways. The only person on this side who was usually up at this hour.. Had been silent for weeks. She was worried, moreso given the unnatural silence everyone had taken at the topic of the dragon. Over a month locked in that room, and every day that passed, Finana came to miss her more and more. She missed Selen's infectious laugh, her goofy smile, and longed for the return of their shared intimacy. An interesting thought occurred to the feesh, that nothing had been as bright without the dragon of the moon. Something that only she brought was missing from hangouts, dinner and stream collabs. When could she come back out?
Finana curled in on herself in bed, unable to calm down. Her and Selen had always been a bit close.. And over time, the taller woman had tested her luck getting closer and friendlier, they had even held hands a few times. Only a few weeks before the dragon had disappeared, she had finally kissed the feesh. What were they? What did Finana want? The uncertainty had been killing her, emotions left to wait on a cliffhanger without explanation. She's so close, only a few doors away, and though the dorm seems silent.. Would it be okay to go to see Selen, to check on her and perhaps finally settle things? Would Selen kiss her again? A blush spreads over her cheeks, hidden to the world in her darkened room. Her heart races, she closes her eyes and whispers to herself.
“Selen..”
Finana doesn't know exactly what she has, what she wants, but.. When she sees Selen again, will she know? She momentarily snaps out of her thoughts and gathers her courage. Even though all of the girls have been told not to bother the dragon, she could no longer keep herself away. Finana throws the covers off, walks lightly to her door, and softly sneaks into the hallway. She takes great care to close her door behind her slowly, turning the knob before pushing the door all the way in, then releasing it closed. Four doors down at the end of the hallway is the lunar dragon's door, and it only takes a few seconds tiptoeing through the corridor to reach it. Cautiously, she raises her hand and gently knocks on the door with the back of her second knuckles. Heart racing once again, she awaits a response.
Silence ensues, and after a few seconds she manages to raise her hand and knock again. After a few more seconds of nothing happening, Finana turns around to return back to her room in defeat, but she stops again when she hears the sound of a lock clicking, and the door slowly opening behind her.
“Selen..?” she whispers as she turns around, not expecting to see the woman there, or the state she's in. In the vague light of the doorway, Finana can make out the form of the person she's pined for, but she's.. Unkempt. Her hair is taken down, let loose over her shoulders and presumably her back. It's slightly frazzled and knotted, how long had it been since Selen had brushed her hair? Her clothes were another ordeal, baggy lounge clothes with several holes.. No, tears in them. Finana's eyes adjust further, and upon looking closer, Selen looks incredibly tired. Her eyes have black bags underneath them, and the skin around them is red and irritated. Finana's heart skips a beat, her worry for the dragon having grown exponentially the longer she looked. She steps closer, and looks up to the lunar dragon.
“Selen..” a finger is placed over her lips, preventing her from saying more. Their eyes still locked, Selen gives Finana a tired smile and backs up to invite her in. Before she knows it, the mermaid has stepped into the room, the door quietly being closed behind her. Just as much as the purple dragon is, it's a mess. The pc is on and is the only thing illuminating the room. Apex Legends is open on one monitor, and the other is sat at the desktop. Books and a drawing tablet sit upon the desk, but no light is coming from the latter. Several empty water bottles and takeout containers ranging from pizza boxes to cheap Chinese containers and everything in between sit on the far edge of the desk. The only other things on the desk are a blue beret, and a thin white bracelet, cut in half near the middle. A box sits half open in the corner of the room, with things she can't make out painted in yellow and blue inside. The dresser and closet are open, and clothes are scattered all over the floor. The bed is mostly clear, but the purple covers are haphazardly crumpled to the side.
Finana stares, her worry growing even more. She turns back to the dragon and opens her mouth to speak, but Selen is holding her index finger to her mouth. She shakes her head, lowers her finger, and walks past the stunned feesh to her bed. Selen sits on the edge, and brutally tired eyes lock back on to sunset orange and purple, and a weak smile emerges again as she pats the bed next to her. Slowly, the smaller girl gathers herself and steps over the piles of clothes to the bedside, taking her invited seat. The two sit in silence for a moment, and before she knows it Finana has rested her head on the shoulder of the girl next to her. For the first time in weeks, she feels the warmth of the closeness between them. It floods back in, drowning out all other thoughts in a tidal wave of contentment. Nothing else matters anymore now that she's here again. An arm wraps around her back, and she scoots closer, no more distance remaining between their bodies. A few minutes are spent like this, and with her worries fast fading, in slips the exhaustion her body had kept from her earlier that evening.
As she slowly loses consciousness, she feels herself being lowered and repositioned on to the bed, her body on its side and her head heavy upon a pillow. Selen's draconic warmth rejoins her, this time cradling her from the front side. The comfortable heat wraps itself around her waist and pulls her closer, Finana nuzzles her face slowly into the chest in front of her. The only sound the emerald woman hears anymore is the loud thumping of a warm dragon heart against her head. A large, scaled set of fingers slowly run through her soft, emerald hair, and finally the mermaid allows herself to smile. Soft lips press into her forehead, making Finana elicit a cute squeak, followed by the only thing on her mind now.
“Selen..”
Her soft voice trails off, as does any awareness she has left. Selen is now the picture of health, exactly as the mermaid remembers. Her dragon gazes back into her eyes lovingly, wearing the sweetest smile Finana has seen from the lunar dragon. Her massive left arm raises and holds itself out to Finana, and the dragon's mouth silently forms the words that the mermaid truly wanted to hear from her. Her face warms, and she places her hand in Selen's. Just as she's about to answer, her consciousness slips back to her.
Her dream was short, too short. The bed is cold. The warmth she felt last night no longer remains, and as her eyes slowly open, the first thing she sees is a single purple feather on the pillow next to hers. Her brain wakes quickly, and she sits up. The room is nearly empty. Gone are the clothes, the box, the bracelet, the tablet, everything, and only the PC remains. Her heart wrenches inside her chest, and in her half asleep stupor, she still only has one name on her mind.
“Selen..?”
Finana anxiously calls into the void, and yet no longer will there be a Selen Tatsuki to answer.
