It starts with her eyes.
When Selen notices it, the sun is setting low, peaking just above the horizon line as it illuminates the mermaid from behind. It gives her backlit frame a halo of sorts, the kind that makes little strands of hair look like they're glowing white.
It would be distracting to Selen’s intoxicated mind if she wasn’t so focused on Finana’s eyes.
They are the same color as the sunset, she had noticed just moments prior, and now it’s all she can think about.

Summary
Feelings are complicated, sometimes you feel things you're not supposed to, other times you want to feel something that you usually can't.
Selen knows that what she is feeling is not bad, but she doesn't want to feel it, still when that sentiment goes away there's a void that only one person can fill in, the same person she doesn't want to feel anything for.
But the thing is, she just can't get that damn mermaid out of her head since a long time ago.
