Work Text:
Severus watched Regulus dance gracefully. He was like a fallen leaf, swept up by the autumn breeze. Sipping his beverage, Severus brooded. Everyone wanted a turn with Regulus Black. The boy wasn’t as arrogantly handsome as his older brother, but he had a unique charm that drew people in.
Regulus twirled a lady and looked his way, smiling.
It was a long night of watching from the shadows. Other than the Malfoys, no one interacted with Severus. He had been invited because of his close relationship with the Dark Lord, but the pure-bloods were uninterested in speaking with a half-blood who lacked wealth and connections.
Regulus finally escaped the young witches’ attentions and walked Severus’ way.
“Why were you not dancing? I know my cousin taught you how to do so.”
“I have no interest in dancing with witches.” Severus scowled.
“Oh!” Regulus blushed. “Then would you like to dance with me?” He offered his hand.
Severus stared at it in dismay. “It would not be appropriate for you to be seen dancing with a half-blood wizard.”
“We can dance on the balcony. No one will see us there.” Regulus flashed him a dazzling smile, pulling him along. Severus followed.
