Work Text:

The soft glow of the cafe's ambient lights created a warm and inviting atmosphere as Bang Chan and Lee Minho sat across from each other, engaged in a lively conversation. The clinking of cups and gentle hum of conversations provided a soothing backdrop to their interaction.

As they shared stories and laughter, Chan found himself stealing glances at Minho, his heart beating just a little faster each time. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about this moment, something that made his stomach flutter with nerves.

After a particularly amusing anecdote, Chan took a deep breath, his fingers tapping lightly against his coffee cup. "Hey, Minho, I've been wanting to ask you something."

Minho looked up from his own cup, his eyes locking onto Chan's. "Yeah? What is it?"

Chan's heart raced, but he summoned his courage. "Would you... like to go out with me sometime? Maybe we could catch a movie or grab dinner?"

Minho's eyes widened, surprise evident in his expression. He blinked a few times, seemingly lost for words for a moment. Chan's heart sank as he interpreted Minho's reaction as rejection.

"Oh, um, you don't have to say yes if you don't want to," Chan stammered, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

Minho's lips curved into a smile, a gentle one that reached his eyes. "Chan, you beat me to it."

Confusion flickered across Chan's face. "Huh? What do you mean?"

Minho's smile grew wider, and he took a deep breath, his fingers tracing the rim of his coffee cup. "I was actually going to ask you out on a date too."

Chan's eyes widened, surprise replacing his embarrassment. "Wait, really?"

Minho chuckled, his cheeks tinged with pink. "Yeah, I've been trying to gather the courage to ask you, and now you beat me to the punch."

A mix of relief and excitement flooded Chan's veins. "Well, that's quite the coincidence, isn't it?"

Minho nodded, his gaze unwavering. "It definitely is."

As they sat there, both grinning like fools, the realization that their feelings were mutual washed over them like a wave of warmth. The cafe seemed to fade into the background, leaving just the two of them and the shared anticipation of the moments to come.

"So, how about that date, Chan?" Minho asked, his smile playful.

Chan's heart swelled, and he couldn't help but mirror Minho's grin. "I'd love that, Minho."

As they left the cafe, hand in hand, the glow of the city lights seemed to mirror the newfound spark between them.
