Chapter 1: Minho can't swim

Chapter Text

Minho strolled quietly just a few steps from the pool, holding a sweet cocktail in one hand and with a series of thoughts occupying his mind. A recent conversation with Bangchan had left him unsettled; Felix was going through a rough time, and they both feared Felix might relapse into his old habit of neglecting meals. They were counting on Hyunjin, to some extent, but it was also true that he couldn't do everything alone. Somehow, Minho was certain that Bang Chan would speak with Felix, but he was also ready to give him a good talking-to if he caught him in such a situation.

Lost in his thoughts, he only noticed the alarm raised by his instinct at the last moment: he raised an arm to deflect an unidentified object coming towards him, which he soon realized was a ball, momentarily forgetting that he had a cocktail glass in his hand. The glass shattered into a thousand pieces, instinctively causing him to let go and turn his head to avoid getting glass in his eyes, which made him notice something terrible: he was too close to the water. Overcoming a moment of hesitation, he stepped back in an attempt to move away from the edge of the pool, but instead, the wet floor caused him to lose traction, and in an instant, he found himself in the water.

But he didn't know how to swim.

He tried as best as he could to stay afloat, following the occasional advice the guys had given him, and attempting to get closer to the edge to grab hold of it. Still, he couldn't succeed because the pool had a function to create artificial waves, and consequently, the pool's edge was almost a meter higher than the water. He was starting to be overwhelmed by panic when he finally felt something wrap around his waist, offering much-needed support.

"I got you. I've got you."

Turning his head, Minho met the resolute gaze of Bangchan, who while supporting him, swam towards the other side of the pool while holding him. He had been so panicked that he hadn't even noticed his hyung had almost shouted his name before diving in without a second thought, fully clothed. Minho smiled slightly. "Thank you," he said. That was probably all he would have from him.
