   The calendar haunted him.

   All of its red slashes through the boxes, with writing with colored markers that reminded whoever looked at it of important tasks and dates. Lloyd felt…well, he wasn’t sure what he was feeling. It was like sadness, but it didn’t feel like it—when he got sad he would feel like crying. It didn’t feel like he was about to cry.
