Chapter Text
Bandit and Chilli were driving Bluey and Bingo to their uncle Stripe's, as he had agreed to watch over them while their parents went into a date night.
"Why are we staying with uncle Stripe?" Bluey asked.
"Because your father and I will have a diner and we need someone to watch over you" Chilli replied. "And since your uncle Stripe was available…"
"Oh, I want to go out for diner too…" Bingo said.
"Girls, we have already talked about this" Chilli said. "Sometimes, Mum and Dad like to have some time alone."
"Well… will we be able to play with Muffin and Socks?" Bluey asked.
"No, sweetie, they went with aunt Trixie to visit her parents" Chilli replied. "Uncle Stripe stayed behind so he could make us a favor and watch over you."
"That and he also didn't want to be with his in-laws" Bandit commented, while driving.
"Bandit!" Chilli admonished.
"What, as if you didn't think about it too" Bandit replied.
"But… who are we're going to play with if Muffin and Socks aren't there?" Bluey asked.
"We can play with uncle Stripe" Bingo told her big sister.
"Yeah, but it won't be the same" Bluey said, a little disappointed.
"You know, Bluey, you loved playing with uncle Stripe when you were a baby" Chilli said.
"Really?" she asked.
"You bet" Bandit said. "Actually, you loved him so much I got a little jealous."
"Oh, do you remember when all that started?" Chilli asked her husband.
"How could have I forgotten?" Bandit asked her.
"Baby date" the two said at the same time.
"Baby date?!" both Bluey and Bingo asked at the same time.
Bluey: THIS EPISODE OF BLUEY IS CALLED "BABY DATE"
They arrived at Stripe's and Bandit and Chilli took their daughters, who were wearing their backpacks, to the door, while Bluey asked:
"What is baby date?"
"Oh, it's a long story, sweetie" Chilli asked, while Bandit rang the bell.
"But I want to know!" Bluey exclaimed.
At that moment, the door opened and Stripe appeared, saying with a big smile:
"Hey, there, how are my two favorite nieces?"
"Here's an idea, why don't you two ask uncle Stripe about it?" Bandit said.
"What?" Stripe asked, confused. "What are you…?"
"Gotta go, bye, girls!" Bandit said, as he and Chilli hasted to get to the car and move on.
"Okay…" Stripe said, still confused for what happened. "So, girls, what do you want to do today?"
"Please, uncle Stripe, can you tell us about baby date?" Bluey asked him.
"Yeah, can you tell us about it?" Bingo asked.
"Baby date?" Stripe asked, still not understanding, as he led his nieces inside.
"Mum and Dad told us I used to love to play with you and that all started because of baby date" Bluey told, as they went to the living room and the two girls put their backpacks on an armchair.
Stripe thought for a moment and then realized what they were talking about, exclaiming, while sitting on the couch and getting his laptop:
"Oh! Now I get it! Yeah, that was a day I will never forget… It was the first time I babysat you, Bluey. Actually, it was the first time ever I got to babysit a baby…"
The two girls went to each side of uncle Stripe and looked to his laptop as he showed them a photo of a younger Stripe holding a giggling baby Bluey.
"Hey, that's me!" Bluey exclaimed.
"Yes, it is" Stripe said.
"But I still don't get it why you, mum and dad call the time you babysat me baby date" Bluey replied.
"Well… I think this next picture will be clearer" Stripe replied, as he passed to the next picture.
"It's aunt Trixie!" Bingo exclaimed, with her being right, as the picture now had Tixie taking a selfie with Stripe and Bluey.
"Wait, so aunt Trixie babysat me too?" Bluey asked.
"Let's just say you're parents chose the wrong time to ask me to babysit you" Stripe answered. "This was taken before I married your aunt Trixie. At that night, I was about to have a date with her at my former place. But, in your parents' defense, the circumstances that led to them leave you with me couldn't be more unexpected…"
Years ago…
Stripe was at his apartment getting everything ready for a special night he had programmed. He was about to have a romantic date with his girlfriend, Trixie, and he wanted everything to be perfect. Despite they had been already in some dates before, that would be the first time they would be in a more personal environment, something that could move their relationship along.
He had groomed himself to look his best, while using some cologne. The dinner he had prepared was now in the oven, waiting to be served and the apartment had been carefully tidied up. When he was just finishing lighting up the candles on the table, he heard the bell ringing. Stripe advanced towards the door and opened it, while making his casual and yet seductive look:
"Hey, hello there…"
But he quickly changed when he saw that the one at the door was not Trixie but his brother Bandit who was not looking that good, having some dark circles and his fur a little messed up. He was holding baby Bluey, while carrying a shoulder bag.
"Bandit?" Stripe asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Please, Stripe, I need a huge favor" Bandit told, in a hurry. "Can you please look after Bluey… just for a few hours?"
"Wait, now?!" Stripe asked. "Bandit, I have a thing…"
"Please, it's an emergence!" Bandit exclaimed, while Bluey was able to break free from her father's holding and started to climb onto his head. "Chilli just had a fall and broke a leg. I need to take her to the hospital, but we can't take Bluey with us. We need a babysitter now and you're the closest we have."
"What about Pat?" Stripe asked. "He's your neighbor. And Wendy too."
"Pat's away with the family and Wendy is with a cold, we wouldn't ask her to take care of Bluey when she already has Judo to look after" Bandit said, while Bluey started to pull his ear. "Ouch! Bluey, stop that! Come on, bro, you'd do me a huge favor."
"Bandit, I don't know if you've noticed, but I have plans already" Stripe told. "I'm having dinner with Trixie and…"
"Good, so you'll have a lot of help" Bandit replied, while giving Bluey's bag to Stripe. "Here, you'll need this."
He was about to go away, when he realized Bluey was on his head. Taking her, Bandid handed Bluey to Stripe, saying:
"And I guess you'll need the baby in order to babysit."
"But… I've never babysit before!" Stripe protested.
"You'll see there's nothing into it" Bandit replied, while retreating. "Just make sure she is fed, cleaned and doesn't cry. I'll come get her once Chilli has her leg treated."
Having said that, he turned around and went away, giving Stripe no chance of saying anything. Sighing, he looked at Bluey, who looked back at him, saying:
"So, what must I do with you now…?"
Bluey just giggled, while placing her little hand on Stripe's nose and squeezing it with her baby strength.
