Work Text:

20th August 1999.

The day Hermione said yes was the day Viktor retired from his career in Quidditch. Now, a month later, with their gathering of friends and family, Viktor has never been happier in his life.

Viktor started to tear up the second he saw her coming down the aisle, escorted on either side by Ron and Harry in place of her father. Hermione is beautiful; he's always thought so, but something about the way she looks in her wedding dress has his heart jumping into his throat.

Despite how silly she thought his superstitions were, Hermione still wore a veil red as blood, and her shoes were full of coins. Viktor pushes the veil from her face. Her eyes are intelligent and glimmering with a similar wetness to his own. Paper vows crinkle in nervous hands.

"You are my everything Hermione, I love you with my heart and with my soul, my life is not complete without you in it. I hope..." He stops, face wet, and brown eyes dripping from her vows as he says his. "I hope I can make you as happy as you make me when you-" His voice cracks as he tries to start again. Hermione reaches up and brushes away the essence of his intense joy. "-When you enter the room and bring with you the light of a hundred suns. My beautiful wife, even when the stars are dead and gone, I will still love you."

Hermione throws her arms around his neck and pulls him down to kiss her before they've been told. Viktor doesn't care. He settles his hands on her small hips, by their standards the kiss is short and swift but with no less meaning than every one that preceded it.

Only a few minutes later, the officiant properly announces them as Mr and Mrs Granger-Krum. They walk back down the aisle, hand-in-hand, as their gathered company stands to offer congratulations.

Their first dance is slow. Viktor can't stop from staring at the woman he can hardly believe agreed to be his. It feels like walking on air as he holds her close without letting go, "I love you," she whispers against his ear.

There is no one else he'd rather spend his life with, not when he is so endlessly and perfectly in love with a woman like Hermione.
