“Get on.”
His command stunned them both. He picked up the broom, then released it so that it hovered at mounting height. Her eyes widened in disbelief, as if she had hoped he’d give in, but hadn’t really expected him to. Draco gestured at it impatiently.
“Hurry up, before I change my mind.”
Granger waited only another moment before scrambling onto it, tossing her thick curls over her shoulder as she settled in. Draco climbed on behind her, clinging for life to his Occlumency as he reached around her to steer the broom, her warmth seeping into his chest.
“Where are we going?” she asked, her voice trembling with something other than the cold.
“Anywhere but here,” he said, pushing off from the ground with a powerful lunge. “And anywhere but Wiltshire."
