Five Kisses

Summary:

The five times Boboiboy and Suzy kiss, in a platonic sense.

Notes:

This is based on some articles I read about people making out with their best friends and that kind of thing is common. So I wanna explore that with Boboiboy and Suzy.

Though this not mean they're in love, they're still best friends :)

One more thing, they recently turned 18 if anyone feels uncomfortable with them kissing if they're still minors.

Edit (3,1,2024): I fixed typing mistake on it. Sorry if anyone is bothered by it.

Work Text:

“Ouch!” No matter how many injuries he endured, it took a single bandage that patched on his wounded cheek to make Boboiboy wince so painfully noticeably.

“Stay still,” Suzy hissed, fully placing the bandage carefully so that it would conceal his wound. “It's bad enough without you moving. You never stopped getting yourself killed, did you?”

Boboiboy clenched his teeth until the pain in his left cheek stopped. “Oh come on, you know how it is.” He tried to justify his reckless actions from earlier.

Suzy responded by giving him a light smack on the head, being mindful of his injuries. It all started minutes ago when Adudu came back and attacked them near the Kokotiam after their recent mission of retrieving a Power Sphera.

Probe's rampage around the area was fierce and Adudu had gotten better with his skills than the last time they fought here, and just like what happened, they almost got away with the Power sphere. But the gang caught on with them a lot quicker than last time.

And then Boboiboy dove in front of Probe's destructive rocket attack that's directed at his friends. At least he's fine and Fang already sent their foes plenty of miles away into the sky. So their mission is a success.

But he's not off the hook for his reckless decision in Suzy's eyes and she already provided him first aid while the others secured the power sphere in their base. While she's relieved that he's okay, she's not happy with his recklessness.

“You did good back there,” he said, watching her closing up the medical bag. “Exactly like I said, you made sure to stay with Tok Aba and your head down, and keep Ochobot away from Adudu.”

“Well I'm glad you're still alive, but you did terrible for trying to kill yourself there,” Suzy said as she returned to her seat next to him. They both sat at one of the tables near the Kokotiam.

Her stern gaze turned into concern when she observed his bandaged face. “Yeah, it looks like you'll be alright, I hope.” She then leaned forward to give him a quick peck on the cheek.

“You know me, I'll be fine.” He smiled at her concerns as she rolled her eyes.

“I know that I just wanted to make sure because I cared,” Suzy said before facing down on his left arm with a large gauze patched on his elbow.

Boboiboy hummed with a sly grin. “Alright, if this will cheer you up then come closer.”

He leaned forward to return the kiss but when Suzy turned back at him at the last second, her lips were sealed by his own. Both of them were shocked to even make a single movement. Only their eyes locked on each other's gazes.

They held still in their awkward positions until they shoved each other apart.

“You…you just kissed me…in here.” She stuttered in disbelief and pointed at her lip.

“Yeah….” That's all he could answer.

After an awkward moment of silence, Boboiboy decided to speak again.

“Suzy, I'm so sorry. That's not intentional, I'm going for the cheek.” He apologized, feeling embarrassed about how he touched her sensitive part.

“It's okay, though you taste terrible because you got dust on you for that big fall.” She grimaced at his taste. “But other than that, I know that's an accident. Not a big deal.”

Boboiboy sighed in relief. “Thank you, Suzy. I'll be careful next.”

“Well, we had been careful ever since we usually kissed on the cheek and that became a normal thing for both of us. I guess we didn't anticipate that we may never be too careful.”

“I guess you're right about that.”

After another few minutes of silence, it was her turn to speak up. “Is there anything else you need?”

He shook his head. “No, but thanks. I'll get better by tomorrow.”

“Alright, I'll just stay here until all this blows over and Tok Aba closes the shop so he'll take you home,” Suzy said.

That's exactly what she did until night came and the elderly closed up his shop.

The morning came and Boboiboy already healed fast by the time he woke up before going to school and no longer kept the bandages on him. He's now finishing up his last-minute assignments before class starts.

Their recent missions made them miss out on their homework, at least most of them were nearly done with that. Just as he finished his last question on the book, Suzy walked in.

“Good morning Boboiboy,” she greeted, giving him a peck on the left side of his forehead. “Are you feeling better now?”

“Yes, Suzy. Thanks again for treating me.” Boboiboy said, smiling at her.

“I'm glad.” Suzy looked at her watch for the time. It's still half an hour before class so that's good. “Hey, there's one thing I have to ask.” She said this before clearing her throat.

Boboiboy placed down his pen. “What is it?”

Suzy sighed first. “About yesterday with that little accident.

“What about it?”

“Well, I've been curious about feet if we kept doing it.” She explained. “But first , I want to make it clear that it doesn't mean I'm falling for you, and I know you don't feel that way, right?” Boboiboy nodded because she was right about the last part. “And I was thinking if we could…” she hesitated. “Try it again and see if we can make that normal too?”

Boboiboy thought about it for a minute and if he's being honest, he didn't expect Suzy to think about that and wanted to try that again, and that's what surprised him when she confirmed that.

“To tell the truth,” he stood up. “Some part of me wondered how we'd feel about it without making it awkward. But we're going to do it here?”

Suzy shrugged. “It's still too early. It would take a while for anyone to show. But if you want to take this after school, then we can wait.”

Boboiboy waved his hands in the rebound. “No, that's okay. I'm thinking we can do this now.”

Suzy puts her bag down next to a chair. “That's right.”

So instead of leaning towards Suzy, Boboiboy stood close to her personal space. From that position, he could feel her breath and she felt his.

“I think first thing's first, put your arms on my waist and I'll put mine around your neck,” Suzy instructed and they both did as she said and this puts them way too close that their lips are an inch away from making contact.

“We're never this close.” She pointed out. “So let's do this but gently.”

“Yeah, you're right.” He agreed.

Once again, Boboiboy kissed her on the lips. From that moment, they stayed still to get the feel from their make-out session. Finally, after two minutes, they broke the lip contact but their embrace stayed intact.

“How do you feel?” He asked first.

Suzy licked her mouth. “That feels…something I never felt before, if that makes sense. But also good.”

He chuckled. “Yeah, I think it feels new, in a good way.” Suzy giggled at that statement. “But don't think we'll fall in love.”

“Oh, I wouldn't dream of it. I'm not the type to be in that kind of relationship.”

“Neither do I, so that means this is a thing for both of us from now,” Suzy said.

“In that case, let's keep trying.” He suggested. “And it's your turn now.”

Suzy leaned back and kissed him too and this time they closed their eyes and let the sensation of their kiss feel them up. This is quite an experience for them so far, and they like it a lot. But they both knew they were still friends, so they liked to keep it that way.

After a while, they ended the kiss with their eyes open.

“You taste like that hot chocolate.” She told him.

“Hehe, I gotta take Tok Aba's drink every morning. And you taste like fried rice and scrambled eggs.”

“I had a heavy breakfast.” Suzy grinned.

“Me too, I just think that after lunch, we should clean our teeth and see what we taste like,” Boboiboy said. “It sounds weird when I say it that way.”

“Yes it is, but we'll see.”

“Uhm…guys?” They froze in dread in their facial expressions at the sound of Yaya's voice with Ying standing next to her. They immediately let go, folded their hands behind their backs, and looked away with their faces turned red.

Yaya held her hands up in defense. “Wait, it's okay! We didn't mean to intrude, but we're sorry for walking in when you two had your moment.”

That calmed them down for Boboiboy to speak first. “It's alright, guys. Since it's still early, we figured it would be a while before the rest of you showed up.”

“We understand,” Yaya said.

but they couldn't help themselves by giving them a wide grin.

“So, does this mean that you two are an item now?” Ying teased.

“No!” Suzy exclaimed.

“What?” Yaya asked in confusion already.

“Well, we usually kiss on the cheek and that's normal to us for a while, but never on our lips,” Boboiboy explained to them. “I accidentally did that to her just yesterday when she was treating my injuries after fighting Adudu. So we decided to experience it and normalized this.”

“But if you two did that, wouldn't you fall in love?” Ying asked.

“No,” Suzy answered. “We won't ever feel that way, we only did it because we're best friends.”

“But do best friends kiss like that?” Yaya wondered that.

Suzy scratched her head. “Hmm, the only thing I can say is it depends on the person. Same goes for me and Boboiboy, that's all.”

“So in the end, this whole thing is a platonic thing for us,” Boboiboy added.

“Oohh, I understand now,” Yaya said, sounding respectful and supportive. “Whatever decision you guys make, we respect it.”

They both smiled. “Thanks, Yaya,” Suzy said.

She smiled back. “My pleasure.”

With the girls in their seats, they continued with their conversation.

“How about after school?” He suggested.

“Hmm, sounds reasonable enough.” She replied.

After class ended, all the students returned to their respective homes. Well, almost all of them. Because Boboiboy and Suzy were chilling on the rooftop and lying down on their backpacks.

“Dude, check this out.” She lent her phone to show him so he'd see an article. “It's a thing that best friends also make out but never get into a romantic relationship.”

Boboiboy is surprised to hear that. “I never thought of that to be common. I thought it was only us.”

She puts her phone away. “Same for me before I checked this article. Anyway, did you brush your teeth?”

Boboiboy widened his mouth to show his teeth.

“Good, I did too. So let's get on with it.”

“Woah, you seemed eager more than a while ago.” He stated.

Suzy blushed. “Because I like it. But still platonic , mind you.”

“I know that, and I like to keep doing this. Also for platonic reasons.” He simplified the last part.

They moved closer and mashed each other in the lips. This time they wanted to make this feel a little more spicy, so they pressed further to move their lip lock. But they're still inexperienced and ruined the feeling of their make-out session.

Suzy pushed him back with an annoyed look. “You're so freaking terrible at this.”

“Well excuse me if I'm still learning how to kiss my friend this way.” He retorted and sitting up with Suzy followed suit.

"You did worse than me.” She snorted.

He narrowed his eyes. “Hey, we both did it wrong and we're still learning how this works.”

Suzy rolled her eyes. “Yeah, whatever.”

But before they carried on, the sky darkened and so did the clouds as they formed into a giant storm.

“Crap, it's gonna rain! Let's get back inside!” Suzy exclaimed as they packed their belongings and ran back into the door just when the rain poured on the school and the area surrounding it.

“Well, that is a bummer,” Boboiboy said as they emerged from the door back inside the main hallway. “I thought the roof was a good place for us to continue with that.”

"Maybe we should've done it at home,” she told him. “That could've been a good place to carry on.”

“I don't have an umbrella.” He said.

She gave him a sheepish grin. “Hehehe, me neither. But I still have this.” She gestured to her jacket she still wore over her uniform.

“Or do you want me to use my water element and make the rain stop?”

Suzy unzipped her jacket and raised the hoodie over her head. “No, that's gonna be a massive jerk move to those who need this rain.”

“You're probably right. Well, I've endured a lot of environments, so this rain won't put me down.”

“Suit yourself, let's go.”

When they went outside, the fierce raindrops poured down on them upon stepping out of the main door.

“Wait, where are we going exactly?” He shouted over the rain as they sprinted across the street from the school.

“Somewhere we can't just wait it out in school because when this rain stops, the premises will be closed too!” Suzy yelled back as they kept running alongside the neighborhood.

“Like, your house?”

“Maybe but it's blocks away from here. Let's keep going and find somewhere else!”

Boboiboy caught up and took her by the hand. “Okay, but let's be quick before any of us get sick.”

So they ran faster as the merciless rain laid heavy raindrops on the entire block. There are only a few people with heavy raincoats and umbrellas wandering around the streets, and rarely any cars pass by during this storm. They went around the block in search of any decent shelter they could use at the time being, if they were close to her house then they would've stayed there.

But if they try to get there now, especially with that distance from school, they might get sick at any moment. Not a good idea, so they gotta keep going.

Until they had nowhere else to go and things got harder with the rain making things hard for them when Suzy stopped to catch her breath, she was probably going to be sick first for this.

“Tired already?” He asked as they already stopped.

Suzy breathed rapidly and only nodded as a yes. “There's so much and we couldn't find any shelter.”

Boboiboy looked around and fortunately enough, he spotted a bus stop just across the street. It's the same bus stop where he and the others planned that camping trip years ago.

“Let's use that bus stop! It's small but enough to keep us sheltered, let's go!” He grabbed her hand and ran towards the spot. “Ah yes, here is good.”

They both sat down and settled in their seats, the small roof over the spot provided a decent cover from the endless raindrops. At least this is fine, for now anyway.

“Hey, don't you get cold too?” She asked.

Boboiboy wore a cheeky grin. “Nah with my ice element, the cold can't bother me this much.”

Suzy smirked. “Oooh, I see what you did there. Making references to song lyrics as usual.”

“Knowing you, you'd likely do the same now, especially when we're out here.”

She raised her eyebrow. “Like, we're kissing in the rain? That works too, because we can keep this up.”

Boboiboy looked around again and sure enough, no one was around. Then he looked back at her.

“Yeah, let's do it one more time and we'll call it a day.”

“Deal.”

They sealed their lips for one more time for the day. And just like the song lyric Suzy referenced from Taylor Swift's song, The Way I Loved You . They're kissing in the rain.

But still, in the end, they're not actually in love. This is just a normal thing for them from now on.

And little do they know, one day they might go a little further than just a kiss to further solidify the friendship they built for so many years. And they'll only do it for each other, as best friends.
