    “Alright,” Criston’s mumbled response came through the speaker. She watched him straighten his forest green button-up on the screen before puffing up his chest slightly. Muffled ramblings reached her ears as her partner began to weave his way through the crowd, little encouragements of “I can do this”, “this is fine”. Was he… hyping himself up?

    Groaning, she sunk back into the uncomfortable chair, her spine hitting the seat with a thud. This could not be happening. The first mission her father had ever truly trusted her with orchestrating, and it all rested on Criston Cole’s ability to flirt with a man.

    She was doomed.
