Work Text:

“Alright Blazar, this is your new home now”.

Gento held the door open so his companion could step inside first, then he closed it behind both of them and set his bag on the floor, wincing as he rubbed the red welts left from where the leather of the straps had cut into his fingers. Blazar looked around, letting out a low buzzing hum as he bent down to inspect a flowerpot on the floor, then got up and looked towards Gento, his eyes moving to his hand.

Realising what he was thinking, Gento immediately intervened. “Ah, Blazar, its fine. I’ll be fine. That’s just what happens when I hold something heavy for too long”.

Blazar stepped back, seemingly confused at Gento’s words, but ultimately accepted his answer and went to explore every corner of the house, occasionally sniffing at things he seemed to think were a threat.

Gento busied himself with hauling his bag upstairs, then came back down to find Blazar playing with one of his son’s toys. A bright red ball that he was rolling in between his hands not unlike a cat. The scene made Gento chuckle in response.

“Hi, sweety”, a gentle voice purred in greeting, and Gento looked up to see Satoko and Jun padding in, the former carrying a shopping bag with her. The moment they stepped in, Blazar sniffed the air and turned to face them with a scrutinising look.

“Ah, hello dear, hello son”, Gento greeted her and their son, then quickly diffused the situation. “Sorry I…he’ll only be here for a while. Then he’ll leave”.

Satoko bent down so she was at eye-level with Blazar, who by now was tilting his head to look at her curiously. He jerked it to one side as Jun knelt down beside him, reaching out to touch his crystalline scar. Gento moved forward to stop him, fearing Blazar would react aggressively, and was surprised when the wild Ultra instead picked Jun up and let him touch his scar and frills, closing his eyes lazily in a show of amusement and enjoyment.

Satoko was bemused herself. “I see someone is good with kids”.

Blazar let out a small huff in response as she reached out to run her hand down his back. The wild Ultra let out a soft growl, as if protesting the small action, but then sniffed her hand curiously when she pulled it away.

“Do you want to stay, Blazar”? Satoko asked him. “We have an extra room, or you can sleep with us”.

“Or you can go back to SKaRD’s base and sleep there”, Gento offered.

“Can he sleep with me”? Jun asked.

Blazar looked to his sides, as if pondering their decisions. Then, he spotted Jun’s letter blocks and, getting an idea, grabbed four of them and arranged three in a line and one towards Jun. Gento and Satoko came closer and saw that he had spelled out ‘YES’ with the blocks, and used an arrow block to point at Jun.

“You want to sleep with Jun”? Satoko asked.

Blazar nodded.

“Are you sure, Blazar”? Gento asked. “Jun tosses and turns a lot in his sleep. You’ll be kicked out of his bed sooner than you can sleep on it”.

Blazar snorted in indignation at that.

“Well, looks like he made up his mind”, Satoko conceded. “And as much as I don’t want to trust an alien we don’t yet know very well sleeping in our son’s room, I think Blazar would do better with a companion”.

“Yeah”, Gento replied, noting that Jun had his arms wrapped snugly around Blazar’s neck. “That, he does”.
