Work Text:
Jiwoong is a descendent of the Greek god, Eros. Since he is a descendant, Jiwoong is able to make humans fall in love with each other or have a human fall in love with him. Luckily he doesn’t have to use a bow and arrow like Eros did, Jiwoong only has to look at a human and snap his fingers. He’s glad it’s extremely easy for him, it makes what he does more convenient. Jiwoong loves to mess with a human from time to time and have them fall in love with him. He never falls for them, of course, just keeps them hooked on him for a little while. He’s been doing it for a couple centuries.
The last human he played around with was a male named Matthew. Matthew was a few decades ago, it’s been the longest Jiwoong has gone without messing with a human, and the god did grow a little fond of the male. He never fell for Matthew, of course. The human was a joy to be around and was always smiling. Jiwoong still feels a strong fond feeling when he thinks about Matthew.
Now, it wasn’t looked down upon for a god to fall for a human, it happens all the time. Jiwoong would rather play with others emotions than to deal with his own. Love is something he has never craved, unlike some of his fellow gods. A few of the ones he is close with have a human partner, he’s quite happy for them.
All in all, love has never been something Jiwoong wanted or needed. He thought it was a silly little human emotion. He knows the god he descended from had fallen for a human named Psyche, it has been a well known story for many, many decades.
Though Jiwoong’s feeling of love changes the moment he bumps into him.
Jiwoong was walking into the local coffee shop in the town he lives in when he literally hits the human with the coffee shop door. The god is beyond glad that it wasn’t hard. He had made a mess of the poor male, coffee spilling all over the floor and the human. When Jiwoong looked the other in the eyes, he meant to say I’m sorry but instead told the human that he’s pretty. Jiwoong rarely feels embarrassed by his own actions and had quickly helped clean up the mess and left without getting himself a coffee.
The god hates to say he experienced love at first sight that day but he definitely did.
A few days later Jiwoong goes back to the coffee shop to properly apologize to the barista. He enters the coffee shop and walks up to the counter, thankfully the human’s working. He smiles once they make eye contact.
“Here to spill more coffee on me, hm?” Taerae, the god notices that’s the name on his nametag, asks him.
Jiwoong sheepishly laughs and replies, “I came here to properly apologize to you. I’m sorry about the other day.” He sits down at one of the stools placed at the counter.
“I appreciate your apology even though ‘you’re pretty’ was a great apology too,” Taerae teases, a smile on his face.
“It’s true though, you are really pretty,” the god compliments. Taerae’s cheeks turn a light shade of pink, this makes Jiwoong smile.
“Well thank you… uhh?”
“Jiwoong, Kim Jiwoong.”
“Thank you, Jiwoong.”
“You’re more than welcome, Taerae.”
A look of surprise and confusion crosses the human’s face before realization does. “Oh yeah, my nametag,” he says as a giggle leaves his lips. Jiwoong thinks the giggle is as pretty as the owner of it. “Speaking of, what would you like to order?”
“What’s your favorite drink here?” Jiwoong asks instead of ordering what he usually does.
“What I get here is pretty basic though,” the human says with a small pout.
“That’s okay with me,” the deity says with a smile.
“Hm… okay. I’ll punch that in and I’ll get to making it!” Taerae says as he claps his hand together.
“Sounds like a plan.”
Minutes later, Taerae sits the drink in front of the god with a grin on his face. “Go on, try it!” Jiwoong picks the iced coffee up and brings the straw up to his mouth. He takes a sip and a soft hum leaves his lips. “Do you like it?”
“Mhm, it’s really good. It’s mocha based with a few pumps of vanilla, right?” Jiwoong asks before taking another sip.
“Correct! I know it’s basic and all but it is one of my favorite drinks,” Taerae answers.
“I think it’s perfect.” Another blush forms on the human’s face.
For the next hour or so, they continue to talk. Taerae pauses to take customers' orders of course. They eventually extrange phone numbers during their conversation, which made Jiwoong feel all giddy inside. They eventually say their goodbyes once Jiwoong finishes and pays for his coffee. Then he’s out the coffee shop's door, heading home. Jiwoong sends a text to the human once he enters his front door.
To: Taerae <3
Hey, it’s Jiwoong :)
From: Taerae <3
you type like an old man
uppercase letters, ick :p
Jiwoong makes a face as he types out his human age.
To: Taerae <3
I’m not that old! Only twenty-five.
From: Taerae <3
i’m 21 so… you’re old ehe
They banter and tease each other for a little longer before Taerae had to go since his break was over. The human had told Jiwoong what time he gets off work so the god sends him a message about wanting to hangout on one of Taerae’s off days. Taerae accepts this offer immediately, which makes Jiwoong smile.
A groan leaves his lips seconds later, he feels like one of those teenage girls from the cheesy high school films Ricky has made him watch. He doesn’t get his fellow gods' taste in movies at all. Jiwoong prefers historical movies, Ricky has told him that those are boring. The other god doesn’t agree with him.
Jiwoong begins to get ready for bed some time later. He sends Taerae a goodnight message as he lays down. He smiles whenever he gets a reply back immediately. He sits his phone down on his nightstand and his eyes flutter shut, falling to sleep.

“Make the human fall for you like you have done with many before him.”
Jiwoong groans and says, “This one is different. I can’t do that to him, I want him to naturally fall for me.”
“Oh?”
“Listen… I might have fallen for this human at first sight… maybe.” There’s a sheepish smile on Jiwoong’s face.
Ricky looks at him with a shocked expression. “Really?”
“Yes. Everything is going smoothly as well. We have gone out together every week since we have met and we call or text on his break. Sometimes when he’s home too.” The smile on his face turns into a fond one.
“I thought these types of feelings were silly to you, Woong?” Ricky questions with a teasing tone as he playfully hits Jiwoong’s arm.
“I thought they were before Taerae,” Jiwoong replies, rubbing the spot on his arm Ricky hit.
“That’s so cheesy,” the other god says with a chuckle.
Jiwoong ignores his comments and says, “I’m also very drawn to him. There’s definitely a deeper connection between us but I can’t pinpoint what it is.”
“Oh really? Do you think he is a descendant of someone?” the blonde god asks. Ricky has a feeling who it might be but he’ll let Jiwoong figure that out on his own.
“Hm, maybe. I’m not sure who it might be though,” Jiwoong says, looking off to the side as he thinks. Ricky mentally face palms as if the answer isn’t obvious. Before the other god could get a word in, Jiwoong’s phone goes off, notifying him that he has a text message. “It’s Taerae, he wants me to meet him at his job.”
“Going to ditch me for a human? I see how it is,” Ricky teases.
Jiwoong playfully rolls his eyes and says, “Sure am. I’ll see you later.” He gets up off the bench they were sitting on and faces the other god. Ricky does the same.
“Make sure to call me about the details about your two’s date.”
“You make it seem like this is the first time he and I have been on one.”
“I just like hearing about them,” Ricky teases, “Now go to your lover.” He makes a moving motion towards the other, making Jiwoong roll his eyes. They both say their goodbyes again and then they part ways.
~
Hours later, the deity and human walk into Jiwoong’s apartment. Taerae looks around, amazement evident in his eyes. “Your place is so nice,” he says.
Jiwoong chuckles and says, “Thank you.”
“It’s honestly one of the prettiest apartments I have ever been in,” Taerae says as he slips his shoes off.
“I’m glad you like it, Tae. Here let me take your coat.” The human hands over his coat and Jiwoong hangs it up right beside his own. After they slip their shoes off, they head to the living room.
“Before we sit…” Taerae starts, voice trailing off.
“Hm?” the god hums.
“Can you hug me? I know it’s silly to ask but…”
“Not silly at all, I promise. You told me at the beginning that physical affection is not your thing and if you want that sort of affection, it’s okay.”
Taerae smiles softly and says, “You’re too good to me.”
“You deserve it.”
The human then proceeds to open his arms wide, inviting the god into a hug. Jiwoong steps forward, a smile wide upon his face, and hugs Taerae. A gasp leaves the deity's lips once their bodies make contact. Memories upon memories of Eros with Psyche flash through his mind. Both of them hug the other a little tighter as this happens.
“What was that? Did you feel that too?” Taerae asks as he pulls away from the hug.
Jiwoong, still getting over the shock that was sent through his body, replies with, “Yes, I felt that too.” The god thinks he may lose it. The answer was always right there as to why he felt such a strong connection to the human.
“I… I don’t,” Taerae pauses for a second to collect his thoughts, “That was Eros and Psyche… right? Why would those…” Taerae pauses again, his voice trailing off.
“Let’s sit down before I explain what those flashbacks were, okay?”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
Both of them sit down on Jiwoong’s couch, it stays silent between the two before the deity decides to speak. “This may sound crazy but I am a god. Specifically, I am a descendent of the god Eros.” Taerae only stares at Jiwoong with widened eyes and doesn’t say a word. Jiwoong takes this as a sign to continue. “I believe that you are a descendant of Psyche, based on what just happened.”
The human slowly nods his head. “I believe you, if you’re worried about that. Why wouldn’t I, honestly? Why would you have a reason to lie about that after what we just witnessed?” he questions.
A small sigh of relief leaves Jiwoong’s lips. “I’m glad you do believe me. Humans in the past made me prove that I am a god and I really didn’t want to go through that with you.” There’s a small smile on the god’s face.
“I’m not under some kind of love hypnosis, am I? Since Eros is basically cupid,” Taerae questions in a joking tone.
“If you were, you wouldn’t be asking that would you?” Jiwoong questions, head tilted to the side with a smile on his face.
“I don’t know… you tell me,” Taerae replies, slowly inching closer to the god. He doesn’t miss the way Jiwoong’s eyes look at his lips for a second.
“You’re different from the others, I didn’t want to force you to fall in love with me. The moment our eyes meet, I knew you and I were destined to meet” Jiwoong says, his voice above a whisper. Their noses are close to touching each other.
A blush dusts on the human’s cheeks. “What about you, hm? Have you fallen for a human before?” Taerae asks. His heart begins to beat faster as he feels scared and excited for Jiwoong’s answer.
The deity smiles softly and says, “Never fallen for one before meeting you.”
Taerae’s breath stutters and he asks, “Really?”
“Really,” Jiwoong confirms.
“Please kiss me,” the human says breathlessly, tone desperate.
Jiwoong instantly puts his hands on Taerae’s cheeks and pulls him closer. It takes a second for their lips to meet, both of them melt instantly. Jiwoong removes one hand from the human’s cheek and wraps it around Taerae’s body to pull him closer, making him almost sit in Jiwoong’s lap. This makes Taerae let out a small gasp into the kiss.
Seconds later, they pull away from the kiss and rest their foreheads on one another. “This might sound a bit cheesy but that was one of the best kisses I’ve had,” Jiwoong admits with a small smile on his face.
Taerae giggles and asks, “I’m better than everyone before me?”
“Mhm,” Jiwoong hums as he wraps his other arm around Taerae, “Honestly, I didn’t care for any of this before you. Yes I’ve done some stuff with human’s and god’s here and there but, I’ve felt nothing about them all until I met you.”
The human pulls away slightly so he can make eye contact with the deity. There’s a light blush on his cheeks and his mouth is slightly open. “I love you,” he says, his voice coming out as a whisper.
This time Jiwoong blushes, which is something that’s never happened before. “I love you too,” he whispers back. He pulls Taerae closer for another kiss, this one is short and sweet. “Stay the night with me,” he mumbles against the human’s lips.
A giggle leaves Taerae’s lips and he gives Jiwoong another kiss before answering. “Of course I will.” This time when the god pulls Taerae closer, he pulls the human onto his lap. “Oh,” Taerae gasps.
Jiwoong chuckles and says, “You’re cute.”
“Shush it and kiss me again.” Jiwoong does just that.
“You’ve been okay with all this touching right?” Jiwoong asks after pulling away.
Taerae smiles fondly and says, “I have. I’ll let you know when something bothers me,” he pauses for a second, “We could do more than this and I’d be fine as well.” The blush on Taerae’s cheeks darkened after he said this.
“Oh? I see… want to go to my room then?” the deity asks, a suggestive look in his eyes. Taerae, too shy to speak, only nods his head. “You’re cute. Now let’s get up,” Jiwoong says as he pats the human’s leg. Taerae gets up, Jiwoong follows behind him. The god grabs the human’s hand and pulls him along to his room. Their first night together is filled with many more confessions and noises of love.
