Locker Baby

Summary:

Aizawa Shouta did not expect to find a baby locked into a public train station locker on his way to UA. The year didn't even really start and things happen already. At least he was lucky enough not to find a dead baby.

Notes:

Brainstorming for a longfic idea after stumbling over a video covering yet another reason why Japan isn't THE SHIT Anime fans belive it to be. Seriously, go and google Japanese Locker Babies for full context.

Also, first One Shot after month long writer's block.

Work Text:

A yell was heard when he dropped the unopened can of ice coffee out of sheer shock. He heard of those in the news, but he never thought he would see one for himself. Aizawa Shouta was wrong as here it was. In front of his eye, there was a baby in the public lockers of the Musutafu train station.

Aizawa's breath calmed down and he started to process the situation. There is a baby in the locker. Shouta just wanted to store an umbrella... What a start for his first year at UA, even if it is just the General Education Track. Monday of the second week. He sighed and looked for help. Who the heck do you call when finding a baby in the lockers?\\

Aizawa ended up calling the police. Who demanded he waits for them to take his statement. So afterwards he called UA, to tell them he will be late.

“Wait, wait. A living baby? Or...” asked his home room teacher. “Will you need the Guidance Counselor?” He understood the implication. Often times, locker babies are found dead. But the baby he found was lucky enough to be alive.

“A living baby, Kanai-Sensei.” he answered her.

“Ah, good! You should call your parents about this. You may take the day off, Aizawa-Kun.” she said. “I will tell your other teachers you will be late and may not come.”

“Thank you, Kanai-Sensei.” He ended the call and dialed his mother's number. “Mom? Listen...”

Shouta did not expect her to drop what she was doing and get to him after the call ended. Aizawa Rui did it anyway. Instead of hello, she said, “Shouta! Did you call the police? Will someone come and collect the kid?”

“Yes and yes, mom.” Maybe it is her job, but his mom is crazy for babies. Shouta is a bit surprised he has no siblings by now, then again he makes his parents enough headaches. “The police should come any moment now...”

“Good!” Rui took a closer look at the baby. Her son on the other hand was bothered by the people looking to their direction. “Oh, poor baby! How can a mother just abandon their kid like that.”

“Well...”

“Don't you end that sentence, Shouta!” scolded him Rui. “Oh.”

“Oh, what?” he asked, while looking for a trash can as he emptied his coffee a while ago.

“Here is a note. 'I am sorry, Izuku.' Hm, sorry my-oh, there is the police!”

After that was handled, Rui send him to school, even though Kanai-Sensei had excused him. But Shouta did not feel like arguing with his mother. When he returned home, he once again dropped a can. The baby – Izuku, according to the note – was in his family's living room. His father was looking at the green haired baby as confused as he was. “You know how your mother is with children.” he said.

“And you agreed?” countered Aizawa.

“Well, I hadn't had a good reason not to agree.”

And so, Shouta had a younger brother, Aizawa Izuku.

One year later and Shouta managed to transfer into the hero course. And earn friends. Yamada Hizashi, Kayama Nemuri and Shirakumo Oboro. The later, he likes the most of the group. Well, they kinda forced themselves onto Shouta... especially Hizashi.

“Hey, Shouta! Wanna go to this new cafe with us? In Tokyo?” he asked at Lunch.

“Think about it, Shouta. You live in Tokyo, you you probably have the shortest way home afterwards!” chimed Oboro in.

“Hey, maybe you can introduce us to your family?” added Nemuri, adding in an idea as well.

Shouta felt the slight urge to say no... but he wanted to check that cafe – unless Hizashi means a different one, not the cat cafe – so he could say yes. But he does not like the thought of these idiots meeting his parents and brothers just yet. “I don't know...”

“About the cafe or meeting your family?” asked Nemuri. “Are we embarrassing?”

“Yes and yes, Nemuri.”

“Shouta! Just ask your parents!” pleaded Oboro, acting overly dramatic. “Just a quick massage.”

“Fine. You annoying puff.” He messaged his dad – he works from home most of the time – who instantly replied, 'Your mom will call you, put on speaker.' As soon as he processed the message, his mom called and he put her on speaker. “Mom?”

“Shouta! Your dad and I need to leave, my sister has an emergency! Saida-Sama from next your babysits Izuku until you come home.” she explained. “Unless your friends are okay with babysitting, you need to shift your meet up to next week! Sorry!”

“Uh, okay.” he said. Looking to his self proclaimed friends, he saw their reactions. Nemuri looked like she saw the ghost of a Unicorn, Oboro looked worried and Hizashi looked betrayed. “Sorry, guys-”

“It is fine, Aizawa-Sama! We wanted to meet Aizawa's brother anyway!” said Nemuri.

Oboro snatched Shouta's phone and ended the call. Hizashi then said, “Why didn't you tell us, you have a brother?!”

“We knew each other for maybe a week at this point.” he said. “Well, at least Izuku won't remember you after today.”

Now it was Oboro's turn to be offended. “Forget us? Oh please! At some point, you will plead us to babysit!”

“Whatever...”

“Your brother must be young.” said Hizashi.

“He's a new born.” explained Shouta. “So no quirk usage in the house, Hizashi!”

Hours later, they arrived in the Aizawa apartment. Nemuri, Oboro and Hizashi waited on a cat-scratched couch while Shouta picked up his brother from the next door neighbor. He returned with a baby with green hair and a box of cookies. “Saida-sama is such a grandma.” he muttered. “Guys, this is Izuku. Please be silent, especially you, Hizashi.”

“Aw! He is cute!” said Nemuri, picking up the baby. Shouta wasn't too worried she'll wake him, simply because of her quirk. Albeit he isn't sure if using Somnambulist on an infant is a good idea. Then again, he doubts the same about letting Hizashi close to Izuku.

“Huh, you two look nothing alike.” commented Hizashi.

“Well, that's because Izuku is adopted.” said Shouta. “Do you want something to drink?”

“Water would be nice. That is, if you have something other than caffeine.” said Oboro, paying more attention to Izuku. “Cute little guy.”

“Adopted? Huh.” said Hizashi, “Didn't our teach say adoption is like super difficult legally?”

“Yeah.” said Shouta, looking though the fridge, “But not really with locker babies.”

“Wait, what?” Nemuri only heard of locker babies. “A lucky one, aren't you, Zuzu?”
