Grian had a limited amount of film to use. Finding old memories again, he had in hands his old instant camera, coders above, it was some years since he last used the device, hoping for best he put new batteries in, checking if it really had film, good, it had nine blank photo films still inside, a button click to turn on the camera. And a turn in the lenses to open it. He looked around, heavens, his base was a mess, he didn't saw anything to interesting enough to photograph. Walking out he saw gem's lighthouse, a good subject. He thought. Pulling up the camera looking at the rear entrance to centralize the photo, before clicking it.
After some minutes of waiting, he had the photo, it was a little too bright, but it had a good enough sharpness, and even if being a little off-center. It had a good framing.
Walking out of the vicinity of his base, he tried to find more things to photograph. His own base, then the pond, Scar's train, Pluto, a close up photo of a patch of cherry petals even Mumbo's base. He walked back with his collection before looking again in the direction of Gem's base, the photo before wasn't enough to his liking so he decided to try again, a little closer this time. He positioned the camera, choose the right exposure before taking the photo. While waiting for it to print.
-Whatcha'ya doing? He heard before he could see Gem approaching, she was carrying what looked like some moss, he didn't pried too much.
-Found my old camera, I didn't even knew it survived the trip here.- He said truthful, showing to her the device.
-Oh, it's one of those polaroids cameras? She said getting closer, looking at the device.
-Closer enough, technically it's not a Polaroid camera, Polaroid it's a specific brand of cameras this is an- Grian was still talking before being cut off.
-I know, no need to give me a whole crash-course alright?- Gem was still wearing a smile in her face, Grian looked at her wings puffing up just a small bit.
-Alright, alright, just got a little excited.-It was a little rude to just talk to much, he knew that in some strange social norms way, but it was a little hard to not info-dump in everyone. He looked at Gem, thinking a little- Gem could I take a photo of you? I didn't find anyone to photograph, except if you consider the horse a good model.
-I mean, alright? I don't think it will hurt, where should I stay?
Grian looked around, before seeing a nice landscape patch, nice light level, he pointed the place out, walking with Gem, leaving her at the right place, she looked at his direction, putting the hands in her pockets pulling the fabric a little.
-No, no, don't pull your hands, relax a little right? Put the hands in the pockets, but don't pull the fabric.- Grian said, while just holding the camera, Gem looked at him, before following his instructions.-That's better hold the pose, the smile.
The snapping sound from the shutter camera was heard, Grian put the camera down while it printed the photo, he took the film out, while the colors started to fade-in. Gem approached, looking at the photo. Both of them in silence for a while, before the photo revealed itself.
It was a good photo, it hadn't overexposure, a problem with instant cameras. The subject of the photo was centered in the middle of the photo. The colors where catching. The bright copper-like hair of Gem in contrast with the dark blue tint of her clothes. And the greenery of the landscape.
-It's perfect! Gem said with a bright smile, picking the photo. Grian just nodded, he knew photograph, and he knew his camera. No photo could be perfect, he thought, but he didn't had the heart to say it to Gem.
-I am happy that you liked it. He just said, shutting the camera off, before it back in the case.
-Liked it? I loved it! She said, pulling him down a little, before kissing his cheek. -I will show it to pearl now!
This last statement was said while her already was walking off to the bridge, in the direction of pearl's base.
Grian looked in her direction with a small grin in his face.
And a bright pink stained lip mark in his cheek.
