Work Text:

Jonesy was in his small caravan getting ready for bed. He liked to having to share this already small space with anyone else. He swears that if Spige ever stuck anyone else in here, he’d spite him.

He sat on his bed, it was pretty cozy compared to what he use to sleep on. He looked around, enjoying his humble abode.

Across from his bed he had a desk with different stuff for work. There were different decks of tarot cards sprawled around for him to organize later, a collection shiny crystal balls from the years of working in the circus, and an assortment of candles that he didn’t light because of a fire hazard. There was other junk of the desk too. A bag of glitter, fortune paper, some crystals and gems. All crap that really didn’t do anything but the people who visited his tent loved it so he continued the ruse.

He looked up and saw little star charms hanging from the ceiling, connected by a piece of twine. He signed and got up, he pulled the hefty chest that held his clothes and other valuables from under his bed.

He got changed and just as he was about turn of the lights, a rush of pain twanged through his head and he keeled over. He no longer was in his caravan, he didn’t know where he was but anytime his visions hurt like this he felt like it was hell.

His vision was never the best, everything always seeming blurry, leading to him squinting a lot but when he had his visions suddenly he could see 20/20.

He looked around in horror as all the could do was stay knelt on the floor while there was fire all around him, people screaming in pain. He saw his friends running around him. They were in pain and agony. He saw Bianca crying as she tried pulling Weiss out from a fallen pillar but couldn’t because she wasn’t strong enough as her fur caught on fire. He saw Nicolai carrying Desi who looked limp out from a burning tent. He saw Jealousy pick up Pan and run as she screamed louder than he had ever heard her talk, having to leave all her fabrics and designs in the caravan as it burst into a blaze of flames. He looked straight into the flames and saw Rory in the midst of it all and her skin was scorching and bubbling, tears evaporating as soon as they fell from her eyes, her signature smile plastered on her face but her hands seemed to be trying to scratch it off violently, leaving red bloody marks among the burns that were enveloping her skin. He averted his eyes not bearing to look any longer when someone grabbed his face, he looked up through teary eyes and saw Spige looking at him with bitter rage, “This is all your fault.” He spat and suddenly Jonesy was back in his caravan, on the floor, all alone.

He screamed and sobbed trying to get off the floor but he couldn’t, his legs giving out from under him. He felt like he couldn’t breathe, all he could smell was smoke from no where. He clasped his chest where his heart would be and breathed hard as he made another weak attempt to stand but this time he stumped through the door of the caravan and tripped down the stairs. He cryed and shrieked, scratching at his arms as he felt warm blood trickle down them. He felt pseudo heat from all around him, he felt as if he were being swarmed by fire ants and everything was ignited ablaze.

His vision was focusing and unfocusing as he tried to catch his breath but just couldn’t, he heard people clamoring around and he screamed, “I’M SORRY, I’M SORRY!” Over and over again. He felt someone firmly grasp his wrists and separate them from his now dyed red arms.

“Woah kid, it’s ok, we’re here to help.” A soft husky voice soothed and he felt another hand rub calming circles on his back. His screaming eventually quieted down and he reluctantly opened his eyes. His vision was blurry but he could make out Jealousy holding his wrists still but his grip had loosened a lot. He glanced to the side and saw Desi, Rory, And Nicolai looking at him with what Jonesy could only assume was worry. Nicolai stepped forward and knelt next to him, “What happened, kid?” Jonesy dropped his gaze, “I-I don’t wanna say it.” Nicolai nodded and put a hand on his shoulder, “Get some rest, kiddo.” Nicolai ushered Desi and Rory away but Jealousy stayed, He was shaking, holding his wrists ever so delicately. “Stay.” Jonesy sat on the steps of his caravan as he watched Jealousy leave and come back quickly with bandages. Jonesy had completely forgotten the harm he had done to his arms. Jealousy silently bandaged his arms and once he was done, he scooped Jonesy into a hug and whispered, “You scared me.” Jonesy felt the giant demon quiver a little and he just hugged him back shaking too, “I’m sorry.”
