Work Text:

Spige was slammed against the floor roughly and he coughed up blood onto the wooden floor. He tried to catch his breath but received a harsh kick to his side and he slide across the floor coughing some more.

“You’ll regret dirtying the floor like that.” She growled as she pulled Spige up off the floor by his hair and slammed him against the wall, W-Wait-“ he cried out as she landed another hit on him.

After what felt like hours of being thrown around like a rag doll, she finally settled down or so he thought.

He laid on the floor exhausted, he didn’t even know what he did to deserve this beating. He breathed deeply, finally regaining the ability again.

Suddenly he felt something cold being pressed to his forehead, “Don’t move, pretty boy. I’ll shoot your brains out.”

His breath hitched as she stood there heartlessly, looking down at him coldly if he were nothing more than a piece of meat. As soon as he made eye contact, she jammed the barrel of the gun harder into his head, “Did I say you could look at me?” She hissed.

After a few minutes, she sighed and lowered the gun, “Not today, don’t feel like cleaning.” She groaned then looked at him, “Why’re you still here? SCRAM.” With one last kick to his stomach, he scrabbled out of the room.

He walked the streets of the town, the circus was visiting this week, until the sun rose. He made his way to the caravans. He usually would stay with them but ever since he married Marley she forced him to get them a hotel room.

He approached the caravan Nicolai and Desi occupied nervous. He climbed up the creaky step and knock nervously.

“Who is it?” A scratchy voice answered behind the door. “Uh, Spige.”

“Aw, fuck. Not again.” There was some rustling and other miscellaneous noises before Spige heard a lock being undone.

Nicolai opened the door and laid his eyes on Spige’s face, “GODDAMN!” He audibly gasped before blushing and muttering a ‘come in’.

Desi was still asleep on the top bunk, snoring lightly. Nicolai grabbed a first aid kit and grabbed a chair for Spige, “Listen bud, this had got to end.” Nicolai counseled as he made a motion for Spige to undress which he obliged.

Desi woke up and peeked over the railing of his bed and signed, ‘How come you allow Spige to undress for you but not me?’

Nicolai rolled his eyes and Spige chuckled and immediately groaned, even if he could use the humor right now, laughing hurt like a bitch.

Both Nicolai and Desi visibly looked repulsed as they got a good look at all the wounds. Desi even got out of bed to help dress the wounds so it must’ve been bad. Desi and Nicolai spent 20 minutes tending to the wounds carefully. Spige stayed quiet as the two older people were signing a full conversation above him. They were concerned about him and how young he still was, only 27.

When they were done Spige stood up and went to leave when he felt a firm hand on his shoulder, “Where do you think you’re going?”

Spige turned around to face them but couldn’t so he just hung his head in shame. “Back to the hotel…”

“No,” Nicolai stated and Desi shook his head with disapproval, “You aren’t going back there.”

So Spige stayed. He got a lawyer and divorced Marley. She was pissed and he was ashamed. He didn’t actually want to divorce her but after enduring that for over 2 years he was done.

She’d never bother him again. Nicolai and Desi made sure of that.
