Work Text:
Lance loved how Checo smelled, which might be a little weird considering they weren’t together. Lance wasn’t even sure what it was that he liked, considering he could never fully place what the older man fully smelt like. Lance tried not to be weird about it, and act normally around his former teammate and friend. He also knew that Checo had no idea of his feelings, but that was okay Lance was fine keeping them to himself. As long as he could continue to have that intoxicating scent around that was all that mattered.
“Lance, how are you doing?” Checo’s voice was just as nice as his scent if you asked Lance.
“I’m alright.” God, he smelled so good, like everything that Lance could ever want in a mate.
“Are you sure, you seem a little distracted.”
“Nope, I’m fine. Everything is fine.”
“Lance, are you sure? You seem not like you. Like there’s something on your mind that you want to say but not want to say. You know?”
“I promise that I’m fine Checo. I would tell you if I wasn’t, I promise.”
“I don’t believe you, please tell me. I just want to help you, you’re my friend.” Checo took a step closer to Lance, putting his hand on his shoulder (like he’s done a million times) but something inside Lance snapped right then.
“God, you smell so good I might pass out.” Lance breathed out, leaning in just a bit closer to really take the scent of the alpha in.
“What Lance?”
“I can’t believe I just said that to your face.” Lance could feel his whole face starting to go red. Why on earth would he say that out loud to Checo’s face?”
“Why Lance, are you lying?”
“No, of course not. You’re the best-smelling alpha that I’ve ever met. I just never wanted to actually tell you that. It was supposed to be a well-kept secret that never left my head.”
“Well, Lance I do have to say that you also smell really good Lance.” Checo stepped just a bit closer to Lance, Lance took a step back but just hit the wall behind him. Lance looked down at the alpha. Some alpha’s wouldn’t like having an omega who was taller than them but Checo has never seemed to mind that Lance was taller than him.
“Really?”
“Yes, Lance. I’ve always liked you. When we were teammates, before we were teammates, now.”
“Checo..” Lance mumbled.
“Stop me now if you don’t want me to kiss you.” Lance didn’t say anything, just allowed to alpha to pull him in for a first kiss like Lance has never had before. Lance never wanted to stop kissing Checo, honestly. It was like a kiss Lance had never experienced before, Lance had never been kissed like this before, like he meant everything to the other person. But Checo was kissing him like he was the most precious thing on the earth.
“Checo.” Lance whispered against the older man’s lips.
“Yes, Lance.” Checo said, rubbing his thumb against the edge of Lance’s jaw.
“Don’t stop kissing me, please.” Lance pressed his lips to Checo’s once again. Checo didn’t stop, neither did until they were panting to try and catch their breath.
There came a point where they both knew they had to leave but before they did Checo scent marked Lance, spreading his intoxicating scent all over the omega, who just stood there and allowed it, wanting nothing more than to always smell like the alpha. He didn’t care how many looks he got with his scent now combined with the alpha’s. Checo was his alpha and he didn’t care he knew as long as he continued to smell the alpha for the rest of their lives.
