Work Text:

Boombox is bored.

Oh, of course, he is always bored. He has scheduled PHIGHTS for the next week and the current week is free, which means he gets to do whatever he wants. Visits, constantly harassing Medkit, going to Slingshot's cafe, and talking with his friends.

What is he going to do? Boombox knows that Valk is currently busy, at least that's what he thought.

He needs to be productive. He cannot be sitting all day and doing nothing until the next PHIGHT battle, and, it's, literally , the next week. He has a lot of days to wait out.

Skateboard is out to do whatever concoction he's going to do, and the musician doesn't know the actual reason.

Boombox was sitting on a sofa, reading something; a book. He knew he needed to be very productive, so reading was his first thing. However, he notices Skateboard being ready to leave. He was dressed in… a suit. Fancy, and Boombox has no fucking idea.

“Skate,” he calls. “Where are you going? You're looking as if you're about to be married, dude.”

The skater flinched for a slight second, then he waved it off. “Oh, it's nothing! I'm just going to do something, ‘ight? I'll be back, I promise.”

He just left in an instant, leaving Boombox bewildered.

Whatever , Boombox doesn't care. It's not like Skateboard is up to do something romantic .

Clearing the thoughts, he perhaps got an idea.

When he was a kid, he was gifted in making bracelets. It was his pure talent and he made millions and millions (Boombox would like to describe it exaggeratedly) of bracelets– most of them are custom and are definitely for people, especially for his friends and someone very special.

Currently, the music is still his talent, but he could use a bracelet-making his second one when he is bored. However, it has been a long time since he has made bracelets for his friends.

Maybe he could try.

Looking around his room, he found a medium-sized wooden box. When he opened, he was met with a lot of beads, plastic strings, and even beads with letters. It seems to be a package for making friendship bracelets. It is in a messy state, but Boombox doesn't care – it's what he needs for later.

Bringing the box, he headed up to an empty table. It looked rather clean than anything a Playgrounder expects of a table being completely messy – Boombox had to clean everything to keep up a steady apartment. He took an empty seat, opened the box again, and began to make the bracelets.

Firstly, he picked the beads that might suit him. Maybe for his other friends, like Skateboard and Slingshot— the musician knows that they're his best friends. He eventually picked small light green and dark green beads, with some labeled beads.

The next thing is he picked a long plastic string, and he remembered: that when he was a kid, he'd use his teeth to cut the string to an acceptable size. It was the craziest thought he'd ever gotten, but Boombox knew he was not going to do that.

He cut the string with his teeth.

Pretending this never happened, he put the beads on the string. Light green, dark green, light green, and it repeats until it reaches the some way Boombox felt he needed to put the labeled beads. He eventually put it on the string, starting with the letter “B”.

It took them seconds to finish, to continue repeating the process. Light green, dark green, light green…

Until it went to the endpoint of the string. The musician eventually tied the string into a knot, and he made a bracelet for himself. Yay.

It felt boring. Huh . Boombox remembered when he was a kid, he thought it was fun making a lot of bracelets and gifting them to their friends. It is the general point of having fun.

Maybe, it's because he is in his twenties, he is completely adult and he mainly does street dancing, and music and participates in Flipside collaborations.

He decides to keep making two bracelets more.

The musician finished making the friendship bracelets, and these looked like marvelous art.

Firstly, the colors of the bracelets fit the looks of the musician and his friends, red, green, and blue. The next thing Boombox notices is the name on the bracelets. Each bracelet has a name placed. Skateboard. Boombox. Slingshot.

Now, he has to give these to his friends—

Oh.

Slingshot told Boombox that he was completely busy with the errands. Earlier, Skateboard told the musician that he went somewhere, and Boombox doesn't know if he listened or heard him say something– sometimes the skater speaks a bit too fast than usual.

Boombox doesn't know. Anymore.

The musician is currently at the plaza, sitting on the bench. He still wears his usual outfit, and he didn't bring his gear on him. Of course, he looked sad as he looked at the bracelets on his hand. The visor dims slowly as the musician thinks more of it. They probably don't care about you.

It continues, it continues , that at this point Boombox is holding his grip hard on his head that it hurts. It hurts , maybe he should—

“Hey, Boombox!” A calm, yet bright voice appears. The musician flinches and quits holding as he swiftly turns his head to just take notice of Valk. “Good thing I found you in an empty place!” The short demon chuckled, as he took the seat beside the musician.

Valk is always bright, just like Boombox. He knows how to cheer people, he knows how to help, he knows everything. It is one of the reasons the musician loves him a lot– the idol is everything to him. He is my everything.

Boombox followed along, bracelets still on his hands. “What are you doin’ here? I thought you were at work, silly!”

“Ahaha,” the idol chuckled nervously, scratching on the back part of his head. “You know… I had to fire the manager out, maybe like, talk with that person’s boss, and yeah.”

The musician raised his brow. “You fired the manager? What did they do, now?”

“It's juuuuuust,” he sighs. “That manager is very annoying. It got on my brother's nerves. I've gotten harassed by that manager.”

Oh, that made him ball his fists, the musician prayed that the strength didn't break the bracelets he dearly made for Skateboard and Slingshot. “Good thing that you fired ‘em. Deserved the ass whoppin’.”

Valk chuckled. “So, we have our singular day off, Dom's out to shop for our next event preparations.” He shrugged. “It's nothing new afterward.”

Afterward, they said nothing. It's just the silence. Boombox decided to not say anything because he knew that his lover deserved the silence with him– after what had happened earlier with the manager. The musician sighed as he checked on the bracelets on his hand again, as it is still intact and new.

Maybe he should throw these. It is how he gave up his life as a handmade bracelet maker when he was a teen. His lack of friendship – even Boombox longed for it, yet, it doesn't work. He decided to make some bracelets for his family before realizing that they weren't here for him.

Maybe, he should give up on everything. Music, the PHIGHTS, his talents, everything else.

Valk broke the silence. “Hey, are these bracelets?” The short idol points at it, smiling. Boombox has forgotten for a second that Valk was here the whole time. In response, the musician flinched and immediately hid the bracelets from Valk's sight.

“Uh-uh! What were you talking about?”

The idol chuckled. “Don't be too obvious,” He gently grabs the musician's arms as he pulls slowly, gently grabbing his hand. His hand is warm, like always. “I like it. Maybe you can make one for me?”

Boombox felt his face turn hot. Him? Asking? For a friendship bracelet? “I– uh… maybe. Just didn't want you to be disappointed.”

He continued. “Also, it's just… a friendship bracelet.” The LED lights dimmed at the sudden sad emotion. The musician looked away for a slight second.

The yellowish demon shrugged. “I don't care. We know that I love you so much, and you love me so much,” he gives Boombox a warm smile. “It can be like… a special bracelet. Our bracelets. Our show that we love eachother. Right?”

Boombox’s mind is screaming, yelling at him to say yes, telling him to do it. But the musician himself couldn't react to the sudden request as Valk continued to smile— that is when he felt his lips meet on his right cheek, the soft caressing on the other side of his cheek, and the musician couldn't handle this affection as he melted in the reply.

“I know you can do it,” the idol says after a short period of physical affection. Boombox forgot that his lover can cheer people up. “I can pay for it.” He insists.

Oh, that’s not. You're not going to pay.

The musician flinched at the sudden mention of paying. “N-no need! I'll make one for you, alright!”

Valk chuckled. “If it is what you desire, then it's alright.”

Valk and Boombox looked at each other– just sitting on a bench, having alone time on the day. The musician wanted to be with the idol all days, but unfortunately, Valk has errands to do every day– at least until the weekend, when he gets some time with Boombox. However, they still have a conversation for a short period, but this one is slightly longer than usual .

Valk stood up abruptly. “I have to go, okay? I'll be back at home at night, you can visit me here,” he winks. “I want to see what you did for me.”

And the short being walked away with a wave, Boombox waving back in a shy manner.

Gosh. This idol can be irritating sometimes, but in a good way. The musician smiles at the request.

He will do it.

Okay, that was a terrible idea.

Boombox is struggling with the color choice of both bracelets – the beads are messily scattered around the table and he can't focus on them. There are pastel yellow beads with light green ones– it's messy as if they got thrown to the floor. However, he didn't make a bracelet, only mainly because of the beads. Fucking color choice.

Yellow and green? No.

Yellow and orange? That doesn't look bad, but it looks like it's mainly used for a friendship bracelet, and he is not going to do it.

His choices ran out.

“It can be like… a special bracelet. Our bracelets. Our show that we love eachother. Right?”

Boombox remembered having small charms that accompany the bracelets, being used as accessories, but that'll be a struggle putting it on the plastic string – maybe he'll need embroidery floss. Checking on his room, he checked everything; under his bed, his desk (and the drawers connected to it), everything else. What he could find is (and luckily) a yellow embroidery floss. It doesn't look like new, and he doesn't remember recalling his days using it.

Picking it up, he went on his way back to the table. Just a singular floss, yellow-colored. Gosh, he looked like a fucking poor person. At least, he has one.

He decided to cut it into six strands with the perfect length (it's just RNG, by luck and he'd hoped that the final work would fit on Valk), with the same color. Boombox is aware and worried that he'll be confused with the same color, but he will be super sure to make sure it is separated. He then folds his half and ties in a knot to form a loop– so it doesn't get messy.

The next thing is he spreads the strands after tying on a knot, and he begins to bring the first strand and puts it under the second, as he pulls to the end, tying to a knot. It took them for a slight while, he barely remembers the process— he hadn't tried it in so long .

He repeats his process, knotting the strings, it looks confusing since it is the same color. However, the process took way longer than he thought due to his lack of memory of knotting an embroidery floss bracelet. He doesn't think he has made one in the past, so this is a first. Boombox hopes it doesn't end up messy.

The bracelet looked longer than he thought, so with the last knot, he picked all the strings and tied them together with another overhand knot. The end of the tie looked longer, so he thought he'd cut it for a better look. Picking the scissors scattered on the tables, he cut the excess strings. Ta-da. A boring and simple yellow bracelet.

He'd put the charms by now. Looking at the wooden box, he saw the charms matching the bracelet, with the shape of flowers and hearts. There are more shapes, but Boombox thought these would be enough to finish the bracelet.

Putting the charms on the bracelet, now , it looked marvelous. He should put the green ones— luckily, the musician seemed to find a small radio charm (how?) and put it on the bracelet. Boombox smiled at the sight of the newly made bracelet, and he felt proud of his work.

He has to make his own, though.

It's going to be a long day.

Valk has finished his work, and he is at home. Fucking finally.

After the previous manager was fired, the brothers had to find a new one— they eventually found one; they're kind and patient with the work. It has calmed Dom and Valk down, despite having slight stress from the work.

But he's home.

Just alone, his brother is still shopping. Gosh, how long is he going to shop? SFOTH, did his brother have someone else? Geez, this man is insane and has a problem.

Forgetting about Dom, he has remembered his request given to Boombox.

“It can be like… a special bracelet. Our bracelets. Our show that we love eachother. Right?”

Ha. As if he could kill himself.

What if he didn't know how to make it? It was his guess– he has never seen his lover use bracelets or he hasn't held the idol about his other talent. He'd be so interested if that was his talent, and would waste millions and millions of money to just get a singular, special and amazing bracelet from Boombox.

He should apologize to Boombox— and the door has knocked.

“Open up! It's fucking 12 o’clock! Open up, or I am being robbed!”

The voice sounded familiar and Valk could guess it was Boombox, but he opened the door nonetheless. It was Boombox, and oh boy, he looked as If they went through a ten-laps marathon.

“SFOTH, are you alright!?”

Boombox nodded and chuckled only later coughing due to lack of air. “Y-yes! I had to run! All the way from the Playground to your p-place, yeah!”

Valk frowns. “You know,” while speaking, he pulled the Boombox into the house and closed it behind him. “You could've asked me to take you. I have a car, you know?”

The musician shook his head. “Nonsense! I've gotten here to give you something– eughh, I need water..”

Valk nods. “Sit, and relax. I'll get you a cup of water.”

The musician nodded as he sat on a long sofa, breathing steadily as he took his jacket off, freeing his arms from closed clothing— it was still sweaty from running. Meanwhile, Valk picked up a glass cup filled with water, and walked on his way to sit with the musician, giving him the cup.

Boombox picked it up and drank all of it in an instant. It may be dangerous since it'll make him dizzy, but it is enough. “Thank you.”

Valk nods. “Did you want to say something, dear?”

The musician chuckled nervously, as he scratched. “Yeah.. remember what you've said earlier?”

Oh.

“Yes. I do.”

“Here.”

Boombox hands two bracelets; the yellow one and the green one. The yellow one is decorated with charms matching the color, and the small boombox charm; what Valk didn't expect is the musician also has put the heart charm on his and Boombox’s bracelets. The green one also has charms, alongside a microphone.

God, he loved that. He picked the yellow one, adoring the sight of Boombox's handiwork.

“I love that.”

Valk has put his bracelet on his wrist, amazed by the work. He has to take a glance at Boombox who's embarrassed by his reaction, the bracelet still on his hand. “C'mon. Put it on.”

The musician hesitated at putting it on his wrist– he managed to do so.

Then, Valk hugged Boombox in a welcoming and warm embrace. “I love you,” he whispers in Boombox's ears which makes him shudder. Valk will leave that as a mental note. “So much, love.”

“I-I'm glad that you liked it… it's my first time doing that, I think.

Valk smiles. “I don't care. I loved it. I'll cherish it.”

Valk could mentally feel that Boombox is blushing, and it'd be really cute if he saw it. “..Okay.”

Boombox hugged Valk back, closing his eyes. Smiling. He's happy.

In the end, Valk ended up wearing and keeping the bracelet on his wrist for the next few days and weeks and Boombox decided to keep it on the wrist– it's a show that they love together; everyone knows. However , Boombox still gave the friendship bracelets to his friends; they ended up keeping them for whatever knows. Maybe, days, weeks, months, even years.

But the Valk's is special. Very, very. Boombox considers his work as the best one— a special one, better than his old and current works.
