Work Text:
Anaashi woke up to the sound of someone snapping their fingers. She couldn’t remember anything. Only hearing a gunshot and getting pulled into the shadows. She let herself have full consciousness before looking around her and talking. It seemed that she was tied up to a pole and noticed that her mouth was duct taped. Not only that but the room she was in was completely white. Even the pole. There was a glass window but there was no sight of any living thing other than herself. She waited thirty minutes until she finally heard a man walk into her room. He bent down in front of Anaashi and went right next to her ear saying. “Hello Anaashi, I finally have you.” Anaashi’s eyes widened. What did he mean he finally had her?! She doesn’t even know him. Was he a stalker? Anaashi tried speaking or even yelling for help but clearly she couldn’t from the duck tape. The man laughed and ripped the tape off causing Anaashi to yell in pain. “Aw, boo hoo.” Anaashi gasped for air and looked at the man. “What do you want from me?! Do I know you?!” The man scratched his head and looked above her head. “My name is Maxim. Pleased to meet you.” Anaashi nodded slowly and waited for him to continue. “What I want from you is pain~” He stopped to laugh. Without another word he untied the rope that Anaashi was stuck to and slammed her to the ground. “Now, since you’re a lady I won’t hurt you physically… But I will do something even better. I'm gonna hurt you mentally and leave a nice big juicy red scar in your memories.” Anashi’s heart started to race. Why out of all the places did she get kidnapped in Russia not to mention he seems fluent in japanese. Anaashi kept quiet so that she doesn’t make any mistakes she’ll regret. “Quiet aye? Maybe this will help..” Seconds later Anaashi yelped in pain as Maxim took out a knife and lightly sliced a little part of her forehead leaving only tiny drops of blood dripping onto the floor. “Here.” He said throwing a white large shirt to her. “Put that on along side with these pants.” Anaashi nodded. “We will all be having dinner soon and as a reward we will feast for you and his arrival here.” Maxim said as he left her room. But before he left he said one last thing, “Welcome to hell Anaashi.” Anaashi’s eyes widened as she started to tremble in fear. Was this going to be her new life?
Anaashi’s door opened and she walked out of it. There was only one pathway to follow so she followed it. In front of the door there was a sign that said. “Dining room.” She looked around her to make sure she was alone and with a breath she opened the door. But inside she was shocked by what she saw. Many other kids were at the table. Most of them looked to be around the age of eleven and twelve but there were some kids that were only nine and eight. Anaashi walked over to a seat that had her name on a piece of paper. She looked at it for a good second before sighing in defeat and sitting down. She didn’t bother looking up but started to fidget with her matching bracelet she had with Bokunoo. She missed him. It felt strange not hearing him show off or pout on how he was jealous of other volleyball players. She even missed his annoying begs for her to set him some volleyball hits. But he wasn’t the only person who she missed. She missed her dad and father. After five minutes of her thoughts taking over she snapped back to reality. The door opened again. This time a boy with a bunch of fresh new bruises and cuts stumbled in coughing. Anaashi rushed over to help the boy who was on the floor still coughing. “Are you okay?” Anaashi asked. It was a stupid question but she still somehow said it. “Kinda.” He said looking up. They both locked eyes. The boy partly smiled. “Hey! I know you, you’re one of the three girls in that one town in Japan...You’re uh, Anaashi right? The night of that town?” Anaashi blushed a bit. Did he seriously have to add the last part? She shook it off and nodded. “Names Ostun,” Anaashi smiled and waved at him. He tried smiling as much as he could. Then he hugged Anaashi tightly on purpose to whisper something into her ear. “I’ve been stuck here for a week and it’s hell. Don’t bother eating the food, it's poisonous. We need to stick together and get out of this underground monster.” Anaashi tried holding back her shaking. She whispered back to him saying. “Do you think we’re gonna get out here alive?” Ostun gulped and Anaashi could feel his doubt. “We both just need to stay alive and give police men hints until they find us.” Anaashi nodded and helped Ostun up. She grabbed a napkin and gently patted the blood off his face. Ostun was a tall twelve year old already at five foot nine. Anaashi was only five foot one so she pulled Ostun down a bit so she could reach. After she finished Ostun thanked her and they both sat next to each other. Maxim walked in. “Hell - o everyone serve yourself to some dinner I promise that I didn’t poison anything. I don’t want anyone dying yet…” Everyone looked at Maxim in shock. Maxim cleared his throat. “Enjoy!” They all ate slowly and carefully making sure not to eat something bad. At the very end of the meal most of them were stuffed. All except Anaashi and Ostun. They had barely touched the food. They noticed that there was a timer. Probably to let them know how much time they had left to eat. It said two minutes..
Ostun grabbed something out of his pocket and shoved it in Anaashis.
“What the-”
“This will help us keep in touch. There’s a paper down there explaining how it works. Before They captured me I had bought walkie talkies. Guess I was lucky..” Anaashi hugged him again then quickly stood up walking away.
This was gonna be painful.
The next day Anaashi woke up dizzy. Many things were fussy to her until her door slammed open. “Wakey, wakey~” Said no one other than Maxim himself. Anaashi wanted to scoff in annoyance but didn’t and made sure to not make any mistakes on what she said to him. The last thing she wanted was to upset him and get on his bad side. For now all she had to do was follow his orders until her and Ostun were able to form some sort of plan. All that thinking made her forget that he was there and she got slapped in the face. Her eyes widened and she quickly got up bowing. Maxim rolled his eyes. “My god you’re too slow, hurry up and follow me kid.” Anaashi nodded and followed the man, a tear falling down her face.
Ostun on the other hand had gotten a beating by one of Maxim’s helpers. He got hate comments now and then getting slapped or hit with a pan. After Ostun was bleeding on most of his face the man left, throwing the pan off to the side. Ostun fainted from all the pain that the man had given him. How much more can he take of this? After a long hour Ostun woke up being greeted by screams from other sets of twins. He sighed covering his ears. He wanted to scream as well. But he couldn’t. The pain felt unbearable to Ostun. But he couldn’t move that much either. And knowing the workers they wouldn't bother bandaging him up. He mumbled under his breath attempting to get up. He yelped in pain falling right back to the floor making a loud, “THUD!” He groaned in pain covering his stomach. He knew that it would take them a long time to even come up with a plan to escape. And estimating having to send their location to the police and all of that other important stuff-
It would at least take them three years to get out.
Though it was just an estimate. Who knows? Maybe they’ll be able to get out sooner. But he couldn’t worry about that. Right now he had to worry about staying alive. He had to hope that Anaashi would be able to take care of the plan. Ostun crawled towards the wall. He put all his weight on it and slowly stood up wobbling a lot. Carefully, he left his awful room and went towards the twinroute where all the sets of twins were able to meet. Though a lot of the time not many went there since they would be stuck getting hit or experimented on. Ostun was able to make it past the door of the place before he completely collapsed onto the floor. There were only two kids there. One was around seven and the other was around nine. Their names were Lily and Angel. They both ran up to him crying and yelling his name. “W-what should we do?!” Cried Angel. “We don’t know how to bandage him up or anything!!” Lily panicked and stood up. “I’m going to try and find one of the older kids. Stay right here.” Angel gasped. “B-But we aren’t allowed to go to those places! You know what will happen if we do!” Lily’s heart increased by a lot but she just gulped. “It’s for Ostun, Angel!” Without another word Lily bolted out of the room and tried to look through the paths in the strange underground quarters to see if she could find any person that knew how to heal people. After a good five minutes of running she spotted Anaashi walking out of the lab rubbing her head. Lily jumped on Anaashi crying. Anaashi was shocked. “Lily? Lily you know you shouldn’t be wandering around the halls like that!” Lily didn’t care nor listen to what Anaashi said. Instead she started to drag her back to the twinroute room. Anaashi was confused. “What’s happening? Where are we going?” She asked. Lily only glanced at her, tightening her grip onto Anaashi. With a small toned voice she said. “Ostun needs help…” Anaashi’s eyes widened as she started to jog which eventually turned into her running through the door. With a fast heart rate Anaashi grabbed a personal hidden Aid kit and ran over to the passed out Ostun. Anaashi turned him around and lifted his head up putting alcohol to get rid of any rips that would cause an infection possibly later on. She checked his palm checking to see if there was still a heartbeat before she kept on going with the curing. Good. There was still a heartbeat going. She quickly wrapped Ostun up and made sure to stop the bleeding. Then, sighing in relief. Anaashi tapped him a few times to see if he would wake up. Ostun jolted awake coughing and yelping in pain. Anaashi jumped back a bit in surprise. “Oh good you’re awake.” She said, Ostun panted looking all around him. Then he lightly touched one of the scrapes he had, wincing and letting go of it. Anaashi shushed him politely and patted his back lightly. “What did they do to you?” She asked. Ostun started getting flashbacks of the man entering and taking out a pan out of nowhere. “It’s not fair..” He said, wincing in pain. Anaashi nodded in agreement. This was the definition of hell. And most curiously. How low were they underground?
A week later Anaashi took the time to really get to know the underground prison. While she was looking around she started to notice secret doors that certain workers would go through to get to who knows where. But it felt strange since every time someone walked through a white wall it would somehow turn solid. Which in Anaashi’s opinion was almost impossible that something like that could happen. Her and Ostun had been sending each other notes on what they would find. They normally would send each other the notes on the days they weren’t tested on which were supposedly “Tuesdays.” Anaashi had no idea what the date was anymore. She’d lost count a month ago.
She fiddled with her bracelet, waiting for something to happen. She started to have flashbacks of memories she had with Bokunoo. She sniffed, covering her eyes with her head. She wished that they hadn’t gone to Russia, she wished that she had held his fathers hand as tight as she could so that she wouldn’t have been taken away. “No..” Just then she saw a note hit her foot. She looked down only to realize that it was Ostun sending her a note. She took the note and read it.
Haven’t found that much yet… Though I think I have a little idea on where the mechanical room is though i’m not entirely sure yet. Have you found anything yet?
Anaashi took the note and turned it around to respond. She took a special ink wood and snapped it causing gooey ink to slowly come out. She grabbed a feather and tapped it on the black ink. Then, she began to write.
Ostun had just gotten out of his punishment just a while ago. He at least had five punches in the face and twenty-nine cuts. Not good. He was drained. He at least lost 10% of his blood from the looks of the red puddle that there was. He looked around him trying to find some sort of bandages. When he couldn’t find any he went to the twinroute room and took some bandages from there. He patched himself up and stared at himself through a mirror. Who was he? Where was his sister? Did his family care? From his point of view all these questions may never be answered. But deep down, he hoped that someday he’d be able to see his family again. He hoped that someday he could enjoy his dad's eternally delicious food that would forever make him drool. He hoped that one day he could fight over dumb things to his sister. He hoped that one day, he could see his pa burn the kitchen down when trying to cook. He hoped. It was all he could do.
He took in a shaky breath and stood up letting a tear fall from his eyes. Just then he felt a note fall onto his head. He took it. A note from Anaashi…
He opened it up and turned the note to the back.
"That’s good to know. And yes. I did in fact find something… Whenever a worker walks to a white wall it somehow turns into liquid. I’m planning to try it out and see what I find or if it responds to my approach. But for now, stay low. I have a plan on escaping after we hopefully send out the SOS message in the hacking room. But we need to tell the others about it."
Ostun smiled. Only a little longer until their home free. At least, that’s what he’d hoped. He walked over to the other side of his room and opened the door leading him outside. When he walked out he walked down the hall, making sure his presents wouldn’t be noticeable to anyone. He started to watch the workers walk around. Some were talking to each other while others were standing in front of a white wall making it look like they were guarding something specific there..But what? Maybe Anaashi’s thoughts were correct and they were actually doors. He walked around a little while longer to see if he could find anything else. And he started to notice a small but noticeable pattern on the walls. Every hallway had a faintly different color of white. But just barely noticeable. And if he wasn’t hallucinating, every twelve steps you took there was a chunk of the wall sticking out. He took notes on all of these things and tried to touch the wall. As he approached the wall he felt a strong, strange, force, pushing him back.
He also made sure to take some notes of the strange feeling.
He pushed past the force and jumped onto the wall, immediately going through it.
The room was black…
Ostun stood up quickly and looked around. He couldn’t see anything. He started to hear weird noises and he quickly ran out of the room into the twinroute room. Thankfully, Anaashi was there talking to another twin named Natasha. Natasha was very tall for her age and was one of the oldest being twelve as well. He leaned his back against the wall panting. He felt like he just ran an entire marathon. But in a way, didn’t he just run at least a mile? No time for that, he thought to himself. He looked up at the girls who had seemed to already be staring at him in a weird way. He dropped to the floor to sit with them scooching closer to join them on the soft rug. Natasha looked at him with a curious face. “Are you okay? You look like you just ran a marathon.” “Maybe it’s because I did.” Natasha laughed letting her curls bounce around her face. Anaashi giggled, putting a hand on her mouth. “Anyways, Anaashi, I saw what was inside the “wall” you were talking about.” Anaashi’s eyes widened. “How did you not get caught?” Ostun shrugged. “There are actually a lot of them. But actually I almost did get caught I think? There were people talking in there and I quickly ran out.” Natasha stared at the two deadly confused on what was happening. But then again, who wouldn’t be?
As everyone began walking towards the wind down room the speakers let out an obnoxious noise. “Anaashi went to the testing room.” All the kids abruptly stopped in their tracks and looked at Anaashi who’s hand began shaking. “Fuck…” Ostun murmured. “Anaashi?” The little kids ran up to her, each hugging her. “Where are you going?” Anaashi gave them a forced smile. “Just my medicine. No worries.” The older kids gave each other worried glances to each other as the younger ones began chasing each other to the wind down room. Anaashi took a shuttered breath and turned the opposite direction of everyone else. Making her way over to the testing room.
There stood Max. Signaling for Anaashi to follow him to the room Ostuns kind of people get put in. She silently gasped at the splats of blood that stained white walls. Before Anaashi could process anymore the lock clicked shut behind her. Now being trapped with Max in the beat up room.
She sat in a achair and watched in terror as Max chained her hands up.
“So, Anaashi… I’ve noticed you’ve been sneaking around in places you shouldn’t be wandering in.” Anaashi bit her cheek hard. Shit.
“You know, if you keep wandering around like that and touching things that aren’t yours. I might just do something you’ll regret.” Anaashi tried to shake her fear away and tried to answer Max without hesitating. “What else could you do that you already haven’t done to me?” She dared asking, “Oh I don’t know…. Hey, what about that twin of your’s?”
“NO! Don’t you dare Max, leave my brother out of this,'' she cried out, trying to free herself from the chains that she was trapped with. Max laughed and winked at her. “No promises if you keep this attitude up.” Anaashi looked down, tears forming in her eyes. “Please, sir. Do whatever you would like to me but don’t touch my twin. I beg you…” Max was enjoying seeing Anaashi show a different side of herself. He just found a new personality beneath her skin. And he LOVED it.
“You can stay here for the night. Let’s hope your blood circulation doesn’t kill you off by tomorrow.” With that, he unlocked the door and left Anaashi alone in her own thoughts. In a white room. With blood stains. “No.”
The next morning when Anaashi woke up alive she let out the most relieved sigh ever. She got unchained and immediately ran to the group room with tears building a wall of blurriness. Ostun sat in the corner, tuned out and biting his nails. As if he needed to damage himself anymore.
For the next month or so Anaashi and Ostun were still hard at work. Anaashi had written many things and the two decided that on this specific day, they would both sneak into the white wall together. Anaaashi had just started to get up when saw a note laying in front of her. She took it and pulled it to her face so that she could read it. She smelled the sweet scent of paper and how free it smelled like.
Whenever you’re ready, meet me at the twin route. I have everything that we need, (Really just flashlights). So whenever you wake up and read this please meet me there.
-Ostun
Anaashi crumbled the note and shredded it, throwing it in the trash. “There,” She started to say. “No evidence.” Then with that she quickly snuck out of her awful white cell and headed towards the twin route room with nothing but herself.
As she arrived Ostun had been pacing back and forth. A nervous habit that Anaashi had found out about. Ostun stopped and ran to her, handing her a flashlight. “Here, be super quiet and follow me.” Anaashi made a clicking sound with her tongue then began to follow Ostun.
They stood in front of the white door, both hesitant to step inside it. If only they had a boost to let them enter.
But then they heard footsteps,
Ostun grabbed Anaashi’s arm and tugged her nicely through the white wall. Both feeling a huge magnetic force pushing them. They both tumbled forward as the voices passed them. Both sighed and panting in relief. Ostun quickly turned on his flashlight and helped Anaashi up. “You okay?” Anaashi nodded, also turning her flashlight on. They both looked around at the room that they’d enter and only saw lab supplies. Both of them looked at each other before they started to wander around in opposite directions. The only thing that the both of them could manage to see or find were a bunch of experiments that made both of their stomachs turn in disgust and fear. Anaashi had been lifting up a potion when out of nowhere another door opened. Anaashi jumped back in fear, shrieking. “Pfft-” Ostun started. Anaashi glared at him, causing goosebumps to attack him. “Wow,” He thought. “That’s hot..” Anaashi swiftly passed Ostun and looked through the door that had opened. “Oh my gosh-” She said. OStun peeked over her and looked into the room, mouth dropping like a cartoon character’s mouth that could touch the floor. “The hacker room!”
The two were both dying of happiness. After almost a year they had found the hacker room that they’ve been looking for. Ostun quickly ran to the computer and started to hack into it, remembering all the other times that he’d break codes at his school and scare his friends. He had somehow hacked in, using the password “I_hate_twins” to get in. It wasn’t long though until those terrible footsteps had been heard. Ostun quickly wrote a message and sent it straight to the police. But right as he was pressing send one of the workers grabbed his arm and shoved him on the floor, deleting the code. “You are SO dead.” Ostun coughed up blood. He looked around panicky looking for Anaashi. No where.
Ostun got dragged away into his room and the guy started to beat him up. Ostun frantically tried to escape, but was only in return getting more scars and bruises. When the man left Ostun thumped onto the ground. Wheezing and squinting his eyes, praying for it all to go away.
