Chapter Text

Anaashi walked out of her car looking around. Her doctor told her to not push anything at all by any means. She didn’t plan to anyway. As she pushed her slight wavy hair back she immediately walked over to her brother. “What’re you gonna do?” She asked partly concerned. Bokunoo smirked. “Probably find some hot chicks-” Bokunoo earned a playful punch from Anaashi. “Pervert.” She muttered.
Bokunoo pouted until their pa Keiji walked up to them. “Anaashi, remember to stay by someone you know most of the night.” Anaashi nodded, slightly disappointed of how limited she was. “And Bokunoo don’t start doing stupid flirting crap with Konore.” Bokunoo frowned. “Fine…”
Koutarou stretched out his back and cracked a big smile. “Hey! Hey! Hey!!!” Keiji facepalmed himself.
The Bokuto’s walked into the club together earning a small gasp from nearby people. “It’s the Bokutoooo’s!!!” Squealed an old friend Oikawa “Ooooo and the twins!!!” Chimed in by another friend.
“Satori, Oikawa. Nice to see you two again!” The two other friends nodded and Oikawa stood up. “Imma go get another shot-” Keiji face palmed while Tendou jumped up. “Me too! Me too!” They looked at Keiji waiting for an answer. But Keiji sighed and shook his head. “You know I don’t do well with drinking.” The two friends looked at each other and back. “Understandable.” Said Tendou. “But if you wanna hangout with us fun people you’ll know where we’ll be~” With that the two walked away. Keiji turned around only to see that Koutarou had left to go back outside. Probably saw Kuroo or Shoyo. He rubbed his forehead. “This is gonna be a long, long night.”
Bokunoo and Anaashi had both already left the scene a little while back to go find some people they knew. Most of them were parents or teens they didn’t know. Then, out of nowhere a microphone started to make weird noises causing everyone to turn to whatever the sound had been.
There stood Oila’s father aka Oikawa himself. “Okay bit*hes! Listen up! So, it is a pleasure to see you all again. Y'all still looking fine as heck. Well except for the fact that we’re all also old as heck.” Many of the parents there laughed at statement. “So, since most of us have teenage kids and they’re all probably being super awkward right now I came up with an idea!” Somewhere in the crowd a voice had yelled. “That never goes well!” Oikawa glared at the person. “Anyways- if you’re a teenager, come on stage please.
In moments, many teens had come on stage. Some looked awkward to what was happening while others were as confident as could be.
Once all the teens got on stage Oikawa glanced at each individual one. “Damn yalls kids look like you copied and pasted them.” The parents yelled some inspirational words to top off what Oikawa.
Afterwards, Oikawa pointed to a door leading to another part of the club. “Okay! So teenagers, that door over there leads to the other side of the club. You teens get that WHOLE other side! No parents are allowed in there unless your parents are going to go and pick you up. So, go!” All of the teens quickly walked to the double doors. Two teens pushed the doors open, and there in front of them all was a big dance floor, bar, stage, disco. It was almost an exact copy of the other side. Once all the teens made their way in there a dj had come on stage and started to put music on for the teens to vibe with. With that, all the teens went their own ways, some dancing, some at the bar, and some at tables or talking. You could hear faint noise coming from the parents' side that resembled music as well. They must’ve been partying hard already..
Sammy ran over and jumped on Anaashi. “Hey hey!!” Anaashi struggled to steady herself with Sammy. “Sammy i’m the definition of weak right now-” Sammy quickly jumped off her. “Sorrryyyyyy you know how much of a habit it is,” Anaashi nodded smiling. “Well c'mon. I won’t be strict tonight so let’s enjoy ourselves and try to meet some people here.” Sammy giggled. “I know most of the people here. My papa Shoyo was close with all of them.” Anaashi sighed. Of course Sammy knew all these people.
Just then Oila walked over as well. “Heyyy girlies!” Anaashi waved and Sammy smiled. “Heyyyyy Oila!” Someone called Oila’s name in the crowd and Oila excused herself from where Anaashi and Sammy were at. Sammy looked around and saw some close friends of hers. “Oh!! It’s Yamma!!” Sammy looked at Anaashi to get her approval and Anaashi nodded. “I don’t care. Go wherever your heart desires.” Sammy blew Anaashi a hand kiss then ran over yelling that Yamma girl's name. Anaashi looked around trying to find someone that she could possibly know. She couldn’t spend the night by herself. As she looked around, someone wrapped their arms around her waist and placed a gentle kiss on the head, causing Anaashi to jump.
“You scared me, Ostun!”
Ostun chuckled as Anaashi looked up at him frowning. “Sorry.” Anaashi crossed her arms and huffed looking out to the crowd. “Do you know anyone here?” Ostun questioned. “Other than Sammy, Oila, your sister, your cousin, Konore, and my brother. No. You?” Ostun took a good look around trying to see if he can recognize anyone. “Nope. Same as you.” Anaashi swallowed her pride and bit on her tongue. “We should meet new people-”
Anaashi wasn’t normally a very social person so when she even had the confidence to meet them anyone who knew her would be shocked. And that’s the exact thing that Ostun was. Shocked.
He looked around and saw many different types of teens. Some already drunk, some sitting at the tables, more drunk people, dancers, groups and-
Ostun spotted two people sitting over near the bar table. Neither looked drunk and both the people seemed like decent peeople to possibly interact with.
One had medium length, natural ash-blonde hair with spikiness. The other girl had long, red hair, with a sneaky smile on her face. They were both laughing and the ash-blonde seemed to hold some sort of drink. Promising enough. Ostun grabbed Anaashi’s hand. “Let’s go and meet the people over there. They seem like nice people.” Anaashi nodded and followed close behind Ostun.
Once they stood in front of them the ash-blonde haired raised an eyebrow before smiling at the two. The red hair peeked behind the ash blonde and gave the couple a look. “Looky~ looky~ we’ve got visitors..”
Ostun waved and placed his hand in front of the two to shake it.
“Hey. I’m Ostun Miya but please call me Ostun since I have a twin.”
The red haired girl stared at the boy's hand for a moment before she smirked and took it. “Pleasure to meet you, Ostun. And who are you?” The red haired asked, looking over to Anaashi. She quickly got out of thoughts and into presence. “Oh, apologies. My name is Anaashi Bokuto but please call me Anaashi for I as well have a twin.” The red haired nodded. “Oooo two people that have twins? That’s rare~” She grabbed the ashy-blonde haired girl's hand and pulled her up from where she was sitting.
“I’m Suzumi Ushijima. And this is Kate Semi.”
“Sup-”
Both Anaashi and Ostun nodded. “Nice to meet you two." The couple took a seat and began getting comfortable. "Are you guys close by any chance?” Anaashi asked. She was curious since earlier Suzumi had been sitting on Kate’s lap.
“Oh! Yeah Kate and I are dating.” Anaashi smiled. “That’s nice. How long have you guys been together?”
“I believe three years right Kate?” Kate nodded. “Yeah. About three years. Hope ya’ll don’t mind our love interest.” Ostun shook his head. “Nah we totally support! Besides, I'm pretty sure all of our parents are men.” Kate chuckled. “Oh that is SO true.” Anaashi giggled and tilted her head at the two.
“You both have an interesting accent. Are you two perhaps from somewhere else?” Kate chuckled. “Wow, do we sound that bad?” She jokingly teased. Anaashi shook her head beginning to panic. She was throwing too many personal questions right off the bat. “Sorry-”
“Nah, totally joking. And yeah kinda funny we both live in completely different places.”
“Like where?'' tackled in Ostun curiously. Suzumi showed off her outfit. It was a long sleeved blouse, with a black beret. And to top it off she wore black ripped jeans with a blak scarf. “I think it’s quite obvious, but I'm from France.”
“Ohhh. That’s why you have a more french tone. Like oui oui~” Ostun immitated, earning a hard arm punch by Anaashi. “O.S.T.U.N”
“Ow, sorry.”
Suzumi raised her eyebrows as an acceptance and giggled. Then they turned to Kate as she scratched her head. “Ya i’m from the complete other side of the world.” Ostun rubbed his chin thinking. “Lemme guess.” Kate nodded. “Knock yourself out man.” Ostun thought. Her voice definitely didn’t come out as a french-like tone. And she sounded fluent in the language, but you could tell that she was pronouncing things a little more plain like a-
“Wait a minute… Are you from the USA?!” gasped Ostun. Kate gave him a thumbs up. “Bingo, you won the money.”
“No wonder why your name is so…American.”
Kate gave Ostun a bored expression. “Wow. Bold today aren’t we?” Ostun bowed slightly. “My bad.”
Anaashi was in a train of thoughts before she looked up at the two realizing something. Wait. If they’re dating, Suzumi lives in Paris but Kate lives in the USA. Wouldn’t that-
“Does that mean that you two do that long distance relationship thing?” She blurted out. She immediately regretted what she said. To make her feel even worse in that moment you could tell that Kate and Suzumi felt uneasy suddenly. Anashi apologized. “I’m so, so sorry that was extremely rude of me.” Suzumi laughed. “It’s fine, no worries! We see each other a lot thanks to Kate’s super rich dad and papa.” Kate blushed in embarrassment. “Oh really? What does your dad do for a living?” Asked Anaashi. “Oh, um. My dads a musician.”
“No way!” Exclaimed Anaashi. Suzumi smirked. “Have you ever heard of the band Smiling Nada?” Ostuns mouth dropped. “Do.Not.Tell.Me-”
Suzumi grinned. “Hehehe..” Ostun almost choked. “Are you saying that your dad is Semi Eita, the lead vocalist and guitarist?!” Kate nodded. “Pretty much.” Ostun looked around frantically. “Bro I'm like their number one fan in history! Is your dad here?!” Kate chuckled. “Yessir he is.” Ostun was about to E.X.P.L.O.D.E the band that he’d been listening to since forever was here. In the same exact place as him. At a freaking high school reunion! Ostun tried to sound as calm as he could,
“Would your dad mind if I took a picture with him afterwards? Sorry I'm an actual huge fan.” Kate shrugged, keeping her chill smile. “I don’t see why not?” Ostun mentally fist pumped himself. “Oh, wow, um, thanks man!”
“What about your pap?” Questioned Anaashi. Kate’s head popped up. “Oh! Right. My pa’s a doctor.” Anaashi’s mouth dropped a bit. “I see where you get the money now.” Ostun added. Kate got up nodding, and cracking her back. “Imma go get a drink, anyone want something?” Anaashi shook her head and so did Suzumi. Ostun on the other hand nodded. “Sure, I can tag along if Anaashi’s chill with it.”
“I’m fine with it.” Ostun gave Anaashi a bit of a worried look before agreeing. “Stay close to Suzumi,” He said. Anaashi sighed. “Alright.” Suzumi carried a confused look on her face.
With that Ostun and Kate had left to go to the bar. “Hey. What did your bf mean about staying close to me?” Anaashi was a little surprised at the sudden question. She guessed that it wouldn’t hurt to be straightforward with Suzumi right? “Oh. I have an illness.” Suzumi had gone from a confused look to a shocked face. “I- wow. I'm so sorry to hear that Ana-kun~” Anaashi fiddled a bit with her hair. “It’s quite alright. Life happens at times. Best to just roll- or how my dad says it “bounce” with it.” Suzumi sadly nodded. “Is it too much if I asked-”
“About my illness?” Suzumi looked around. “Yea.” Anaashi nodded. “I can. It’s not something that I'm scared about.” Suzumi smiled. “You’re quite brave,” Anaashi laughed lightly. “Why thank you.” The air felt serious again and Anaashi explained to Suzumi about her illness. Every now and then she’d try to make it as nice or meaningless as possible so that she wouldn’t scare Suzumi. It seemed like it worked.
Suzumi rubbed Anaashi’s shoulder. “It’s good to know that you’ll be free from it soon..” Anaashi nodded looking towards the dance floor. “How come you weren’t dancing before?”
“Pfft. And let everyone know how bad of a dancer Kate is? Not a chance.” Anaashi tried not to laugh. “It’s alright half of the people here are awful dancers.” Suzumi looked at the dance floor. “Oooh, ya. That’s just embarrassing.” Anaashi chuckled. “Do you dance?” Anaashi asked. Suzumi nodded. “Yup!” Anaaashi’s eyes sparkled. “What style?” Suzumi began to pile and pointe her foot, showing off a beautifully arched foot. “Ballet.” Anaashi gasped. “That’s such a beautiful one.” Suzumi nodded. “It’s very enjoyable. What about you?” Anaashi shook her head. “I used to do lyrical and contemporary. I probably will get back into it later in my life.” Suzumi clapped her hands. “Glad to know that we both do the graceful styles.” The two began giggling. “So, how long do you plan on staying here?” Suzumi looked up and started to count her fingers. “Maybe like about a week? I have to get back so that I can attend the last few months of high school. Then, I'm home free for college.” Anaashi frowned. “Oh right. I almost forgot that school was a thing.” Suzumi slapped her knee laughing.
“I know right!?” Anaashi chuckled.
“Would it be alright if I got you and Kate’s number? For when you leave.” Suzumi smirked. “Oh absolutely. Good to know that we’re getting along~” Anaashi took out her phone and so did Suzumi. They traded phones and wrote their numbers down. Just when they returned each other’s phone a weird man came up to them…

Ostun and Kate were both grabbing some drinks. They both leaned back on the table taking a sip out of their drinks, watching everyone dancing on the dance floor. “Tell me a bit more about yourself.” Asked Ostun. Kate wiped her mouth and turned towards him shrugging. “Meh. Was born here in Japan, moved to Argentina, then some other places until I was 16. Now I live in US. Not a very interesting life story if you ask me.” Ostun raised his eyebrows. “Damn. So how many languages do you know?” There was a moment of silence until Kate spoke up again. “I know 9 languages.” Ostun almost spit out his drink. “Holy- and you’re fluent in all of them?!” Kate took another sip out of her drink. “Yup.”
“That’s impressive man.” Kate chuckles, moving her hair from her face. “Thanks man.” Ostun nodded.
“What about you?” She asked. “Oh me?” She nodded in a dumb way. Ostun bit his tongue. “Uh- my life’s pretty boring too-” Kate raised an eyebrow. “Bullshit. You’ve had a seriously tough life, no?.” Ostun jumped back a bit, his heart beating faster. How did she know? “Oh, you know?”
Kate looked over at the small tv. “Yeah but very little. I mean, I saw what had happened on the news and in person a bit.” Ostun thought hard to think if he’d ever seen her. “When you guys were saved I had been living in Russia at the time.” Ostun looked up at her. “Oh, really?”
“Вы, ребята, были во всех новостях” (You guys were all over the news) Ostun blushed in embarrassment. “это неловко” (That’s embarrassing.) Kate rubbed her eye’s. “Nah. You guys looked like you just beat an army on that TV to me.” Ostun spit embarrassingly, rubbing his forehead. “Changing subjects-”
Kate set her drink down and stretched her arms out in front of her. “Do you think the other two are okay by themselves?” Ostun hesitated for a moment. “I think so,” Kate hummed in response. “I’m not quite sure why yet but for some reason I'm getting a weird feeling about leaving them..” Ostun’s eyes slightly widened. “You too?” Kate looked over confused. “Wait, huh?” Ostun took another quick, small shot before lightly tapping Kate’s shoulder. “I think we need to go and check on them. If both of us are feeling the same thing then I don’t really think that I trust this.” Kate put down her shot and started to walk to where they had last seen the girls.
When they had arrived they saw something that made the two tops almost blow up into flames. There, an adult stood in front of the two girlfriends, clearly not respecting the girls personal space. The man was short. At least, shorter than Kate and Ostun. He was a little stubby and had a scar on his right cheek. Suzumi clearly looked disgusted with the man while Anaashi looked fearful for her life as the man started to touch her. Suzumi slapped the man's hand and Ostun jumped in front of the two girls glaring at the man. “Yo, bro, back off!” He said with his scariest voice. Kate stood next to Ostun trying to match his height. “Ya man they’re taken so back off.” The stubby man didn’t look impressed. Instead, he attempted to go closer to Suzumi. But right before he could lay a finger on her Kate kicked the man in the nuts and punched his jaw. The man stumbled back in much pain. Suzumi laughed. “Hah! Stupid.” Ostun grabbed the man's arm and sent him face first out the door, causing him to fall right onto the ground.
“Who even let him in?” Asked Anaashi. “More like how did he get in.” Added Kate. “Any of you two get hurt?” She asked. “We’re good.” Both girls said at the perfect time. Ana shivered. “That guy was stupid to think that he could lay a finger on you.” Scoffed Ostun as he returned with the girls. “I mean you two are pretty hot.” The two girls got all flustered with the compliment.
For the next hour the two couples kept talking with each other and learned more simple but interesting things about themselves. For example, Suzumi actually really likes chocolate croissants, or that Kate wants to become like her dad when she graduates high school, Ostun enjoys playing lacrosse, Ana was a competitive dancer, and much more. Though as much as they were enjoying themselves they also wanted to meet more people and actually try and dance a little bit. “Hey, Suzumi and I are gonna try and head to the dance floor. You with?” Ostun looked over to Ana who then gave the other couple a warm smile. “Actually I think that we wanna meet some more people here and maybe spy on our parents.” Kate’s eyes shot up. “Ayo, lemme know if you guys are gonna spy on our parents cause we totally gotta see that.” Ana nodded giggling. “Sure. See you around?” Suzumi gave them a thumbs up before dragging Kate over to the dance floor. “Nice people..” Sighed Ostun. “Yeah, glad we got lucky with who we met.” replied Ana. A peaceful silence began to creep around them. That is until..
“HEY HEY HEYYY!!” Yelled Bokunoo from afar. The couple began to laugh as they watched Konore and Bokunoo totally shaking their ass off on the dance floor. The couple looked at each other before they too decided to join the actual party.
They had all partied until midnight. And right when the clock had struck it, a quarter of the kids had been down right either drunk, or passed out from all of the partying. Ana had gone to get some water over at the small bar, chatting with Sammy again. “So, how was hanging out with your friends?” She’d asked. Sammy grinned and flashed a bright look. “I got to dance with Konore a lot.” Anaashi covered her mouth, pretending to be in shock. “Ooooo-” Sammy turned bright red from telling Anaashi that. Darn her overly confident self.
Sammy quickly tried to change the topic. “Um. Anywho-” Anaashi laughed. “Sam sam it’s okay to have a crush.” Sammy blushed an even brighter red with that statement. “I-I don’t have a c-c-crush!” Anaashi playfully rolled her eyes. “Hey. We should see how the parents are doing. I’ve been dying to see what they’ve been up to.” Sammy’s eyes sparkled. “OMG YES WE TOTS SHOULD!!” Anaashi started to walk with Sammy over to the door that divided the teens to the adults when someone stopped them. “Woah, woah, woah. I'm coming too.” Said Ostun. Anaashi nodded. Then more people came. “Yo me fourth!” Sammy studied the person for a good few seconds. “Omg!! Suzumi!!” The red head grinned, patting the top of the shorter haired girl's head. “Where’s Kate Suz?” Asked Ostun. “Oh, she’s already over there waiting for us. She left a half an hour ago saying how crazy it was there.” With that everyone started to grow more impatient. They carefully opened the doors and slipped past them. Being as stealthy as they could, Sammy, Ostun, Suzumi and Anaashi ran up some stairs and ended up getting a nice front row seat of the parents, spotting Kate quietly laughing her butt off in the seat. “Hey guys take a seat please.” Everyone did as Kate said and they all looked down. “Oh my-” It was chaotic. The first people that they all spotted were Sammy’s parents Shoyo with Ostun’s uncle Atsumu. They were jumping up and down to the music and what looked like-
“Are they twerking!?!” Exclaimed Sammy. Hers and Ostun’s face turned red from embarrassment. Anaashi held back her laughter.
Ostun looked around a little more until he spotted Semi Eita. His favorite band member and singer. He almost screamed being within his presence. He started to quietly jump up and down covering his mouth to prevent him from screaming. Kate laughed. “Did you spot my dad?” Ostun nodded, continuing his fanboying. Suzumi patted Ostun’s back. “I know right? Take it in my man. Take.It.In~” Ostun blinked a few times standing still. “C-Can I sneak down there?” Kate snorted. “I mean. You can try but I'd wait if I were you. I mean, I think the party’s gonna end in-” Kate checked her phone. “Five minutes.” Just if on cue. Someone began to tap the microphone. “Oh no…” cried Anaashi. “HeY hEy HeYyY!!” Squealed Anaashi’s dad. Everyone started to cheer. “He's so, so..drunk-” she claimed. Anaashi’s dad was quickly pushed away by a decently drunk Oikawa. “Thanks y’all for coming to this reunion! Drive home safely.” Everyone started to cheer. “And uh- Keiji I think you should drive..” added a worried Oikawa. Everyone could see how waisted Koutauro was as he began hugging a chair nearby. Anaashi was, unsurprised but still disappointed in her dad.
But before anyone could leave the party was quickly interrupted with yelling coming from someone. “Oikawa you son of a b*tch!” Kate started to turn red in embarrassment. “Oh boy..” She said looking down. Suzumi held back her laughter as much as she could. “Pfft-” The rest looked shocked.
A stubborn, light brown if not blonde-haired male with strange bangs started stomping on stage, fuming with anger like a hot boiled pot.
A few feet away from him followed an ash-blonde male that was a little bit slim but also quite tall. He looked like he was trying to calm the other down. Oikawa looked petrified. “Ohhhh-Shirababe!! You enjoying-”
“Oikawa you never gave me my money back you stinky son of a B*tch!!” Oikawa basically had sweat dripping down his face as he fake laughed. “Uh-um. Shirababe we can talk about this?” Shirabu grabbed onto his shirt but was quickly pulled away by Eita. “Baby calm down-” He tried persuading. But unfortunately, Shirabu didn’t calm down one bit. It’s as if his yelling kept fueling him.
“Um, who’s that?” questioned Sammy. Ostun was too busy fanboying to notice the pomeranian-like man. “My pa-'' Said Kate hiding her face within her pale-white palms. Sammy opened and closed her mouth. “Is he like that with everyone?” She asked. Kate shook her head. “No. Well I mean yes! But not with his patients or people he likes, I swear.” Kate groaned, pouting. Anaashi giggled. “Oh my gosh! Is that Dr. Shirabu??.” She thought. Sammy on the other hand was rolling on the floor laughing. “OMG!! ANA ANA ARE YOU SEEING HOW SCARED UNCLE OIKAWA IS??” Anaashi tried to calm Sammy down. “Sammy shhh you’re gonna get us caught, pfffftttt!!!!” Kate’s Pa was trying to free himself from his husband's hands. Some were laughing and others were trying to help out. “Okay! Okay! Okay! Here’s the thousand dollars, take it and please spare me.” Shirabu huffed and grabbed the money out of Oikawa’s hand. “That’s what I thought.” Everyone began to laugh and started to head for the exit. Parents collected their kids while others met up outside. “Let’s go.” Said Sammy. She began tugging on Anaashi’s shirt. “Okay.” Kate nodded and began walking away with Suzumi. “Wait!” Yelled Ostun. Kate turned around grinning. “Oh right. You wanna come?” Ostun kissed Anaashi as a goodbye and quickly ran to join Kate and Suzumi.
Kate opened the door to the exit. There were a lot of people out there. Kate took Suzumi’s hand and started to push through people. Ostun followed closely behind. “Do you know where we’re going?'' Ostun asked. Suzumi kept humming and Kate nodded. “Yeah actually they should be right-'' Kate pushed through the final people and there they were. Kate’s pa and dad standing in front of a super fancy expensive car. Ostun’s eyes shined at the sight. Kate’s pa Shirabu quickly looked over and squinted at Ostun. “Who’s that Kate?” He asked. “This is Ostun. He’s apparently a HUGE fan of dad.” Shirabu walked over towards Ostun and stared into his soul. Ostun quickly bowed in fear. “H-Hi!” He said quickly looking up. Shirabu raised his head and “Well okay. Hi Ostun.” Ostun waved excititly. Shirabu snapped at Kate’s dad to get his attention. It failed. So he tried saying his name. Also didn’t work. Finally, Kate’s pa had it and yelled. “EITA!” Kate’s dad had been too busy doing something on his phone that he didn’t notice that anyone had come. He jumped and quickly put his phone away looking over. “Ah! Yes?” Shirabu pointed at Ostun. Eita looked over to him with zero expression for a second before smiling. “Oh, hey.” He said waving. Ostun’s eyes turned into pure stars. He was almost 100% sure that he peed himself.
“Hi I’m Ostun Miya. I'm a huge fan. Can I get a picture with you?” his sentence had come out faster than he had intended it to. Eita’s eyes widened and he chuckled. “Sure.” Ostun squealed quietly and quickly ran over to him. He took a selfie picture and looked at it in amazement. “Omg thank you so much this means a lot.” Eita patted his back. “Ya no problem man.”
Ostun was dying to talk to him a bit more but was way too scared to talk even more. He reminded himself of a kid. Kate walked over to his dad and gave him a fistbump. “Hey kiddo, how was the party?” Kate giggled. “Your face was funny when you tried to stop pa.” Eita’s face turned red. “Oh god you saw that?” Kate nodded. “We snuck into the adult party at the perfect time.” Suzumi nodded. Eita sighed heavily. “Well, i’m deadly tired. Are you ready to head back?” He asked Kate. She nodded her head and hugged Suzumi giving her a kiss. “You need me to walk you there?” Suzumi shook her head. “Nope! I see them. Besides, Ostun will be walking the same way to get there.” Ostun nodded. “I guess ya.” He said. Kate looked at him before shrugging. “Alright. Hey nice meeting you Ostun.” Ostun slightly bowed. “Likewise.” “Ya nice meeting you bud. Thanks for listening to my band!” Ostun peed himself again. “A-Absolutely! Thank you for the picture. I will cherish it forever.” Then with that Ostun and Suzumi bid their farewells to Kate and started to walk the other way to reach their destination. That is until,
“Dr. Shirabu!” Said none other than Anaashi. She had been speed walking over to where Kate and her parents were. Shirabu turned around, his mouth dropped slightly. “Anaashi!?” Shirabu wrapped her in a hug for a few seconds before pulling her away to check her. “Wow you’re looking much better now. Have those other doctors been treating you well? Have you been taking the medicine?” Anaashi smiled. “Yes and yes.” Shirabu sighed in relief. “That’s good.” Anaashi nodded. “In fact, they planned to give me the final surgery in a few weeks.” Shirabu’s eyes widened and he covered his mouth. “No way! That’s amazing Anaashi.” She smiled and looked over to Kate and her dad who both had VERY confused looks on their faces. “What?” Asked Eita. “How do you guys know each other?” Added Kate. Shirabu gave them both a look. “I was her doctor when I did the 6 month trial, remember?”
“Ohhhhh.” said the other two. “Dang. What a coincidence-” Said Kate. Anaashi nodded. “Anaashi did your doctor tell you what sort of surgery it was?” Anaashi thought for a moment. “Yeah, 890 formate open heart ex on.” Shirabu looked up and moved his finger around as if he were doing math. Then he gasped. “Oh! That’s actually the perfect surgery. Have you’ve been feeling any other sort of pain?”
“Other than my heart hurting a bit and sore legs no not really.” Shirabu thought for a moment before nodding. “Alright well thats excellent! I’m so proud of your progress Anaashi and I hope the surgery goes well.” Anaashi bowed quickly. “And if you ever need anything at all from me you can always ask.” “Thank you so much Dr. Shirabu for everything.” Shirabu patted her head. “No worries, always happy to assist you.” With that, Anaashi waved over to Kate and began to joining Suzumi and Ostun. “Your Dr. was none other than my world famous rock stars husband?!” Anaashi rubbed her forehead sighing. “What a small world, right?”
Suzumi gave the two a snarky grin. “Hmmm~Hmmm~Hmmm~ I smell L.O.V.E-”
“No” Interrupted Anaashi. Suzumi pouted. “So meannnnn!”
Suzumi then whirled around to the right and saw her parents. “Ooo~ That’s my cue. Text me in a lil Anaashi?” She nodded and Suzumi then quickly walked away to her parents. “Well,” Began to speak Ostun. “That was a heck of a night.” Anaashi yawned, leaning onto Ostun. “Yeah, I need to study when I get back.” “But it’s like midnight, what about the word sleep?.” He looked at Anaashi’s eyes. They were definitely baggy.
Anaashi had been stressing a lot about finals because she couldn’t accept falling behind again. She shivered at the thought. Even though she had passed the high levels of the exam she still missed much information from it. The teachers had also purposely made it easier than they normally would out of pity. At least she thought they were pitying her. So when freshman year rolled around she had around 10 panic attacks on the first week of school. Yup, that’s right. She would also aggressively chew her nails, scratch her skin rather often, and her eyes would begin to move around all over the place if she focused on something for too long. In other words, Anaashi really had no time to play around. So, she ended up skipping all of the parties like homecoming, football games, cha cha night, even a special made prom for the entire high school. Instead, Anaashi took that time to study, read, catch up, tutoring, or anything that she could possibly do to catch up with everyone else. And thankfully, all her hard work had eventually paid off and now in sophomore year she’s proud to say that she’s doing way better than freshman year. Unfortunately though, Anaashi had slowly reverted back to her old habits again ever since the word finals were heard.
Ostun rubbed her head softly kissing the top of it. “You can study in the morning no? Besides you need extra rest before your surgery.” Anaashi’s eyes widened a bit. “Oh, I forgot about that. Ostun raised an eyebrow. How could she forget something that she’s been waiting for for years? “I think that proves my point on the you need rest.” Anaashi sighed and began to slow down as they approached both of their families cars. “Yeah, you’re right. It isn’t healthy for me to do that.” She kissed Ostun and he returned the kiss. They both stayed like that for a few minutes before they pulled away. “Did you hear that they’re building a college made for only celebrities or famous people?” Anaashi nodded. “Yeah, it’s supposed to be a really good school correct?” “Yup!” Anaashi pulled out her phone and began to type something. Ostun leaned over a bit to get a glimpse of what she was doing. “Huh, says it’ll open in 3 years..” Ostun closed his eyes for a moment and did some quick math. “Oh, so we’d be in our 1-2 year of college by then. Man, hope I get invited to go there.” Anaashi nodded. “Says here that’s for advanced students and well known people.“ “Seems like a pretty lame motto if you ask me.” Anaashi lightly hit him. “Don’t be mean.” Ostun pouted. “Anywho.. ya know how everyone at the party’s famous? Well, the parents.”
“Uh, yeah?”
“Well apparently there’s this thing going around where lucky middle schoolers can enter and spend a day with the kids of the parents.” Anaashi looked at him confused. “You lost me-” Ostun pulled out his own phone. “Basically, our parents are famous right?” Anaashi nodded. “And we’re also pretty famous.” Anaashi nodded again. “So, since we have so many “fans”, we get to spend a day with them towards the end of the school year.” Anaashi bit her lip. “What? Why? And it is the end of the school year.” Ostun facepalmed. “No, like after exams. And then we do it again during our junior year.” Anaashi blinked a little bit dumbfounded. “And i’m finding out about this now because?” “Because you don’t read your emails.” Anaashi huffed. “Well whatever. At least I know now.” A car made a honking noise and the two turned around. It was Anaashi’s ride. “Well, I guess that i’ll see you after my surgery?” Ostun nodded, hugging her tightly. “Tell me how it goes, k?” Anaashi hugged back. Not wanting to let go. She was terrified of what could happen during her surgery, even if it’s supposed to be mostly safe. What if it didn’t work? What if she dies. She’d never graduate high school, or college, or get married to Ostun and have kids. Her whole future would be erased. And that, Anaashi wasn’t ready for.
Anaashi got in the car and sighed. Her eyelids were drooping over and she could practically feel herself asleep.
Anaashi yawned, opening her eyes. “What the-” She saw that the covers were white, a constant beeping sound echoed the room and her arm felt slightly oozy. She was in a hospital bed. Did something happen? Did her family get into a car crash or did something happen to her? Maybe it was a dream..
There was a knock on the door. Anaashi made a grunting noise and the person took it as a sign of “Come in.” Anaashi was prepared to see a doctor but instead was greeted by Oila. A crying Oila to be correct. “A-anaashi!” She ran and hugged Anaashi tightly. “What- I- Oila?” Oila sniffed and aggressively rubbed her eyes. “I thought you’d be long gone for sure!” Anaashi was completely confused. “What?” Oila backed up to be facing Anaashi. She put both of her arms on Anaashi’s shoulder. “Anaashi, you don’t remember?” Anaashi shook her head. She’d fallen asleep in the car. “Ana, you got in a serious car accident..” Anaashi’s eyes widened. She immediately checked herself for any broken bones or pain, but nothing. Just a bit of a headache. “How- What?” Oila bit her tongue. “Yeah, you and your pap only got minor injuries. You would've been dead if Bokunoo hadn’t covered you.” Anaashi started to breathe heavily. “W- Is he okay!?” Oila scrunched her nose a bit. “Um, Yeah kinda. But I think you wanna see him for yourself.” Anaashi tried not crying.
“What about my dad?”
“Oof. I'm not sure your pap's in there right now. Bokunoo’s awake though.”
Anaashi pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear. “Can I see him?” Oila nodded. “But I have to be with you!” Anaashi rolled her eyes. “Fine.” Anaashi got up rather slowly just in case. Then she carefully took a step, then another. She seemed perfectly fine…
Which only meant that Bokunoo might’ve taken a huge bullet for her.
As she walked in there she saw Bokunoo on the bed, playing on his phone. He had a big cast on his leg and from the looks of it he also wore an arm sling. But he was also- crying?!
Bokunoo turned his head towards Anaashi and Oila. “Anaashi! You’re okay!” He quickly wiped his tears and tried to smile. Anaashi took a shaky breath. “Bokunoo-” She turned to Oila and gave her the, “Please let us talk” face. Oila nodded and gracefully walked out, slowly closing the door behind her. “Are you okay?!” She ran over to him. Bokunoo tried his best to smile away his pain. “Thank god you’re safe!” He said. Anaashi could see his pain in his eyes. She knew him too well..
“Bokunoo please tell me..” Bokunoo’s smiled dropped so fast that it almost looked painful smiling. “The doctors don’t think that I can’t play volleyball again.” Anaashi’s whole existence stopped. Was she hearing that correctly? Volleyball was Bokunoo’s life. His dream. His future. Anaashi dropped in the patient chair.
“Why?”
Bokunoo looked down, almost ashamed.
“My leg was almost completely ripped. According to the doctors it was a miracle that they didn’t have to give me an amputation.”
Anaashi gently placed her hand on Bokunoo’s shaking hand.
“I’m scared. What if I actually can never play again?”
Anaashi was lost in words. She didn’t know what to say. “I- I’m so sorry Bokunoo..” Bokunoo looked away from her. “They said that I’m gonna be in a cast for 6 weeks and then I have to do stupid physical therapy.” He chucked a small toy ball. It bounced back to him and he catched it and turned back to Anaashi. He looked like in so much pain Anaashi wasn’t sure she could ever smile again. “Why would you?-” “Because your surgery’s soon.” Anaashi’s heart hurt at that moment. No. It ached. “And, you can’t be getting injured before that, right?” Tears poured down Anaashi’s cheeks. Bokunoo May look like an intimidating, edgy, tall teenager but his heart was always too big for his own good. “What did I deserve to have a brother like you?” Bokunoo laughed. “I could say the same thing.” Bokunoo looked back at his sister. “Have you heard about dad yet?” Anaashi curiously asked. “No..”
They both went silent.
Oila knocked on the door. “Come in!” Anaashi said. Oila peeked her head in. “A doctor wants to check on Bokunoo, same with you Anaashi.” Bokunoo turned away again and began to bounce the ball against the wall. Anaashi sighed. Was he mad at her? She’d understand why. He should’ve just let her take the hit. Anaashi gave Bokunoo’s hand a slight squeeze before she got up and walked away with Oila. and they both walked by a doctor. “Now that you mention it. I didn’t get checked before I went to go and see Bokunoo.” Oila flipped her hair. “Oh yeah! The doctor said that you could go once you woke up. The only minor injury you got was that big scratch on your arm.” Anaashi immediately looked at both of her arms. How could she have missed something like that? “Will it go away?” She had enough scars. Last thing she needed was an even bigger, uglier, scar. Oila made a popping sound with her mouth. “It should. Idk though-” Anaashi whimpered.
They both stood in front of the door. Anaashi was about to enter when Oila grabbed her arm. “Wait!” Anaashi raised an eyebrow.
“Yes?”
“Can I talk to you? A-After this obviously!”
Oila looked nervous. Anaashi tilted her head a bit. “Are you alright?” Oila let go of Anaashi’s hand and wiped the forming sweat off on her clothes. “Oh um. Nevermind just go, good luck.” Before Anaashi could even respond Oila ran away. Strange. She knocked and heard a “Come in.” Anaashi opened the door to see her pap sitting next to her dad who was sitting up on a bed. His hair was down and his left arm was wrapped up plus, the side of his head. Her dad was frowning a moment ago but once he saw his daughter he immediately smiled. “Heyyyyyy baby owl!” He said grinning. She tilted her head a bit. She always hated that nickname. But she didn’t have the heart to reject it. Right now she cherished and missed it.
She walked over and sat down next to her pap. “Are you alright?” Her pa asked her. He checked her temperature and checked her arm. “Ouch..” He said lightly placing a finger on her cut. “That glass really cut into your skin..” Anaashi’s eyes widened. “I’m sorry but a piece of glass was in my skin?” Her pa immediately noticed the panic in her daughters eyes and patted the seat next to him. “Here, I can explain to you what happened.” Anaashi nodded. “But what about dad? Are you okay dad?” As expected all her dad did was smile widely. “I’m fineeee.” Her pa rolled his eyes. “Koutarou you were just complaining 5 minutes ago-” Her dad quickly covered her pa’s mouth. “Haha Keiji continue the story?” Her pa narrowed his eyes at his husband and pushed his hand away. “Yuh huh.” Anaashi started to pick at a loose nail.
“So,” Her pa began saying. “I was driving us home because of your father-” He glared at Anaashi’s dad. If you couldn’t tell Anaashi most definitely got the scary glares from her pa. “Anyways, we had been passing by a green light and this man who was insanely drunk drove his HUGE truck into our car. It had hit the side that both you and your dad were sitting at. And obviously your dad got hit but your brother on the other hand slid next to you and covered you. But unfortunately..” Anaashi’s mouth went thin. “Can, dad or Bokunoo keep playing volleyball?..” Her pa sighed deeply. “I’m not quite sure hun..” Anaashi could tell right in that moment that her dads expression went from smiling to a frown.
Anaashi decided to leave her parents behind. “Pa can I go hangout with Oila?” Her pa hummed. “Sure, actually do you think that you could go to Oila’s house tonight? If you’d like to.” Anaashi itched her hand.
“I guess, but how come?”
“I’m going to stay here the night to keep an eye on your brother and dad.” Anaashi huffed a bit.
“Are they not gonna get released tonight?”
“No. They need to do whatever checks up things. But they should be freed tomorrow.” Anaashi frowned.
“Ohhh don’t give me that look. I just don’t want you sleeping on the gross guest beds they have here.” Anaashi groaned in defeat.
“Okay, I mean at least it’s Oila..” Her pa got up and kissed her forehead wrapping her in a tight hug. “Love you.” Anaashi sighed. “Love you too.”
