Work Text:
The stars looked so beautiful when they shone through the eyes of a newborn baby. The baby daughter of the crowned princess laid in her cot, her arms reaching out to the shining above.
Princess Ravona Satone smiled down at her young child, picking her up and holding her gently as she smiled down at her.
The smile a mother has for her baby is as special as a new star being born.
It has only been two days since Ravona had met the little princess she had been growing for months and held her for the first time, but Ravona felt like she had known her little star for longer than anyone else: and yet she still had so many years to go with her.
And as she stood there in her bedroom, holding her small baby in her arms, she remembered a song her own mother used to sing to her.
Truthfully, she did not remember all the lyrics, but she did remember the melody that she could still hear her mother’s voice hum to her as she drifted off to sleep as a little girl herself.
So, she hummed the sweet melody to her own daughter, letting her soft voice soothe her little star to sleep. It felt surreal, holding her baby when it hadn’t felt that long since she herself was a baby. But that didn’t matter to her, she loved her girl.
Slowly, Ravona returned her little star to her cot, rocking her gently in order to keep her sleeping before Ravona herself got into her own bed, although she knew that she would probably have to get back up again and again during the night.
Ravona smiled to herself, humming to herself as she swayed gently towards the foot of her bed.
From the large palace door, Ravona could hear someone come in, even if they tried to be as silent as possible.
She turned around, a smile on her face as she grinned towards the person that had walked in.
“Tye Loe?” She called out but when she saw the black cloak, the grey eyes and the silver blade, she knew that the man she had called out to wasn’t her friend.
Her smile fell, her eyes widened and her body fell.
She would never get those special years with her daughter after all.
