KABOOM!
A chorus of coughs and gasps followed the ear splitting explosion as students rushed to open any door or window they could get their hands on. Some students even actively fanned the smoke and god awful smell out into the open spaces.
"And that, students," the teacher in the front removed his safety glasses, his face covered in ash and charcoal everywhere except where the goggles were. His golden yellow eyes watching his students as they returned to their seats, "Is why we experiment with windows open. Class is dismissed early, enjoy your next class and per usual; office hours are from three thirty to five after school if you need me. If you are unable to reach me before then - my school email is on the board."
"Thanks Mr. Kamishiro!"
"See you Monday Mr. Rui!"
The sounds of keychains rustling together filled the room as students started filing out of the smoky classroom. Their end-of-class routine was disrupted, however, by another teacher that came barging into the room, "MR. KAMISHIRO! My class desperately needs help!"
"Ah, Mrs. Ootori! What type of help brings you to my class?" Rui peeled his gloves and set them aside onto his desk, leaning back as he listened to his co-worker.
"My projector went kablooey! And-and I promised my students that we would watch a movie if everyone passed their spelling tests!!" Emu exclaimed between breaths, her arms waving around, distress practically radiating from her body. Even her usual bright and colorful attire looked dull.
"Hm, I see…shall we have a race to see who can reach your classroom first? We wouldn't want your students to wait for long to have their projector fixed." Rui offered the challenge to his colleague, leading her to let out a small laugh. Even his students could tell - it was a sound their advanced chemistry teacher was addicted to.
"I'm not going to lose to you again!" Emu took up the challenge, already taking off out of the classroom and down the hall. The door slid closed behind her, the room now filled with nothing more than Rui's laughs.
Rui gently closed the door behind him before bounding down the hall, dodging students in an attempt to reach the elementary part of the large school in record time. When the two teachers were out of sight and ear shot, the students still in the now teacher-less classroom pulled out their phones, quickly typing into the groupchat.

Aya: Did we get any new so far today?
Kayo: My little sister said that Mrs. Ootori is celebrating
the anniversary of that time she saw a cute deer
today
Miki: When I came in early, I saw Mrs. Ootori give Rui
a little kiss on the cheek and gave him a cup of
coffee
Kei: I saw that too!
Kei: When I asked him about it, he asked if it was not
something adults do to be friendly
Takashi: On god himself?????
Aya: I swear either Mr. Kamishiro is oblivious on
another level or they're hiding something.
Yuu: I just saw him carrying her on his back as he ran to
her classroom
Yuu: AND SHE LEANED OVER HIS BACK TO GIVE HIS
CHEEK A KISS TOO
Miki: Either they are so comfortable they act like lovers,
but they never mentioned having a partner
Kayo: Mr. Kamishiro told 3rd period yesterday that he
has a long meeting tomorrow from his previous
district so someone else is going to substitute us
Takashi: I wonder if there's a way that we can convince
the faculty to let Mrs. Ootori substitute us
Takashi: Granted we're more than likely going to be
with snot-nosed and grimy kids but we
might be able get more leads to set them
up together!
Miki: I don't have anything planned this evening so I
might spend the evening and night stalking
through Sekaigram to find more leads
Miki: My last lead (leads?) is the fact that she shares a
last name with the family that owns Phoenix
Wonderland and she loves taiyaki
Kayo: Good luck Miki!
Aya: Let's talk after office hours, I'll update if I find
anything
Aya: Also good luck Mi-Mi!

TaiyakiDiaries My new husband took me deer watching and we spotted this one on our way to the center! There was also taiyaki but by the time we noticed it was getting late and we were both starting to get tired :( Taiyaki Rating ??/10 - maybe next time! Miki stared at the proposal photo that was posted to this taiyaki rating account, her eyes zoomed in on the figure that was proposing. He looked so familiar yet she just couldn't place her finger on why. She sighed and scrolled back up to the wedding taiyaki photo, zooming in as much as she could on the inscription. After what felt like hours of staring, the only words she could make out were Mr. and Ms.
Cursive was so annoying to read, and it doesn't help that she has a hard time telling words apart sometimes!
Nearly all day stalking different taiyaki based accounts, and barely anything new. If anything, this account is a small lead but only because of the two silhouettes. She squinted more at the proposal photo, desperately trying to find more clues as to their identities. Yet no matter what this person was doing online, they weren't exactly helping her with her case. So, she was stuck staring at this photo for what felt like hours on end while waiting for her phone to buzz with news from Yuu or Aya.
Finally, it did. A text message from Aya popped up on the screen, and she quickly opened it up to see what it said.

Miki: The most I got were these photos

boyfriend(NOW FIANCÉ)..."
Miki: However the person behind this account is
married while Mrs Ootori is single
Miki: The guy proposing looks really familiar
Takashi: Does he? Only thing I can tell he's much taller
then the girl by maybe 30ish centimeters?
Give or take?
Takashi: Did you find out anything Aya?
Aya: I managed to talk to him during office hours and he
was just making origami the entire time.
Aya: No work got done :')
Aya: Unless you count him writing wishes and folding
them to look like paper stars as work.
Kayo: Any idea on why he was writing wishes the entire
time????
Aya: No clue
Kayo: We'll find out more tomorrow I guess
Kei: Let's hope Ms. Ootori as our substitute lesgo

Miki yawned as she shuffled her feet towards the chemistry lab, her teal eyes still glazed over with a hint of tiredness. As much as she loved taking Mr. Kamishiro’s class, she did not enjoy waking up at an ungodly time in the morning. She yawned again before squinting to properly read the sign taped to the door.
ALL STUDENTS OF MR. KAMISHIRO'S CLASS
PLEASE REPORT TO MRS. OOTORI'S DAYCARE CENTER
She read through the sign, her fist doing a small pump. Either Mrs. Ootori volunteered herself to watch Mr. Kamishiro's class or one of the other students in the group chat managed to convince administration. Either way this could pull up new leads!
Walking to the daycare center, Miki sent a text to the investigation group chat about where Kamishiro's classes were going to be 'held.' Not many of the students were complaining, Mrs. Ootori had a reputation for being an extremely fun and energetic teacher slash daycare attendant. Everyone, students and parents alike, adored her.
Either way - Miki knew that Emu definitely didn't have the same qualifications as Rui. And she didn't mean to say or think it in a demeaning way - Rui was very well known to be teaching college level chemistry in an easily digestible way teaching high schoolers who were in the advanced placement classes while Emu best thrived teaching children.
Miki walked into the small classroom with a few other of her classmates helping Mrs. Ootori prepare her lessons for the day. The short pink haired teacher noticed the teal-haired teen and bounced over to her. "Welcome to my classroom! It might not be as fun as Mr. Kamishiro's class but I hope you enjoy your time here!" She took Miki's hand, giving her a bright smile before returning to her whiteboard. The white board was littered with all sorts of drawings - a bear and bee sharing a pot of honey while a whale and a mermaid were on an above ground picnic were both in a corner respectively with a giant "WELCOME TO CLASS!" written in swoops and swirls with stars and hearts drawn around it. The worst part was that Miki wasn't sure if it was meant for the high schoolers or for her students - not like she was complaining. It was nice to be transported back all those years to back when she was in daycare.
She sat down at one of the tiny chairs, pulling her backpack and grabbing some crumpled up papers. Looking at the equations and questions in front of her, she got to work while kindergarteners and other students her age trickled into the classroom in the early hours of the morning.
Once 8:30 came around, Emu stepped up to the front of the classroom and clapped her hands together, commanding attention from the toddlers and teenagers. "Goooood wonderhoyful day students!" Emu smiled brightly at all the students under her care, "Today will be a very laid back day on account of our guests! And because Mr. Rui was so nice to fix our projector yesterday, that means we'll be able to watch shows for most of the day!"
All the toddlers immediately started shouting and demanding different shows ranging from Blue's Clues to Octonauts, with Emu eventually settling them down with Bluey. It wasn't long before the class was silent save for Emu in the corner occasionally sorting through papers before her voice echoed through the classroom, "Can one of the big kids be nice and bring this to Mrs. Mafuyu in the front office?"
One of her fellow classmates, Tadashi, volunteered and took the stack of papers from Emu before something on her desk caught his eye, "Is that yours, Mrs. Ootori?"
"Yup!" She smiled at Tadashi before looking back at the framed photo on her desk, "Isn't she so cute?! She's so clingy it's adorable, screaming at me to go to bed when she starts feeling sleepy during the evening and then snuggling up next to me in our bed."
"Aw, that's cute! What's her name?"
Emu seemed to think for a second before responding back, a bit of mischief in her voice, "Help around the class more and I'll tell you!"
'Challenge accepted,' seemed to be the common consensus amongst Miki's classmates, starting to jump in and asking the young energetic teacher if there was anything they could help with in return for answers.
"What's their name?"
"Yuuka! I came up with that one myself."
"Do you have anything exciting coming up?"
"An anniversary coming up soon actually!"
"What kind of anniversary are you celebrating?" A lead?
"That one time I saw a really cute deer!" Dead end.
"Do you have any romantic anniversary coming up soon?" Have to get more specific.
"Nope!" Another dead end.
And thus this was the routine until the end of the period, the distant bell ringing signaling passing period. The class was practically immaculate by the time the high schoolers were done with it - anything in exchange for information. On the bright side now they have a date idea to suggest to Mr. Kamishiro.
Also Yuuka is, indeed, a very cute cat with orange fur and pretty blue eyes.

Miki: Not a lot of information extracted from Mrs. Emu - she somehow dodged quite a few of our questions by making us having to ask it very specifically
Miki: All we know right now - she has her own apartment (given), she has a cat, the easiest way to her heart is sweets and taiyaki, and she is celebrating an anniversary of when she saw a really cute deer (someone suggest to Mr. Kamishiro to bring Mrs. Ootori on a deer watching date)
Miki: Once I have more free time I'm going back on Sekaigram and looking through the Phoenix Wonderland socials

Aya: We should make a powerpoint with all this new
evidence!

And so that became the plan - gather as much evidence as possible of Mr. Kamishiro and Mrs. Ootori's at school like the stolen kisses or the fact they arrived and left the school at the same time everyday and no one bothered to notice?
Small things like that added up, each secretive photo snapped added to the ever growing powerpoint filled with evidence of their (not so secret now) love. This included dates, times, and screenshots of both Hinata and Emu's Sekaigram accounts.
On the second to last week of the spring semester, a good majority of Mr. Kamishiro's class came up to request a meeting with him during his after school office hours and that they also invited Mrs. Ootori to this meeting.
His response?
"We're in two separate departments, but I suppose so for the sake of this meeting."

Both Mrs. Ootori and Mr. Kamishiro were seated at the lab table, watching as his students fumbled around with his projector, hooking it up to their student designated laptop and the first slip appeared on screen - "We Figured Out That You're Married and We Have the Proof."
The first few slides delved into the small coincidences like how they would always appear and leave the school at the exact same time before the students moved to the more damning evidence. The stolen kisses throughout the school day, Mr. Kamishiro always calling dibs on Mrs. Ootori whenever they made something sweet in class, and even pulling up a screenshot of the White’s Day video on Hinata's Sekaigram of Mr. Kamishiro's signature socks that he wore practically everyday.
The last piece of evidence was showcased - their wedding photos taken from both Hinata and Emu's accounts. By the time their presentation was said and done, Mrs. Ootori - or Mrs. Kamishiro they should say - was smiling broadly while leaning against Mr. Kamishiro who was simply staring at the group with a thoughtful expression on his face.
Finally, the quiet was broken between the two parties by Rui's voice, "Good job! I'll give you an A as long as you promise to never do this to me, Emu, or another teacher again."
"Ah-! Yes Mr. Kamishiro, we promise!" Takashi quickly spoke up in response, his posture quickly becoming straight and stiff.

Since that day, Rui and Emu were much more outspoken about their relationship, both of them wearing their wedding rings on necklaces. Rui even let his students take a closer look at his wedding band with the inner engravings reading "Mr. and Mrs. Kamishiro - 1/01/20XX"
While they were also working on acids and bases, Rui showed them how to make them safe to drink and offered to make them into snow cones for everyone. It wasn't long before he made one for Mrs. Emu, and brought his class with him to go make snow cones for the daycare students and his beloved wife. Yes, he had openly been calling Emu his wife, the love of his life, all sorts of cute and affectionate nicknames that he adored watching her smile and giggle and blush with each nickname that left the lips she had loved to kiss so much.
On the last day of school, Rui had brought a balloon animal kit with him and made anything that his students asked of him - many of them leaving with balloon hats. Before the final bell and all students of all ages were milling about the courtyard, Rui had decided that now was a great time to "propose" to the pink haired teacher that he had a very obvious "crush" on the entire school year. He had decided on making a balloon ring, big enough to be worn like a pool donut and put it on Emu while declaring his undying love for her.
