Work Text:
Laying in the dark, he’s faced away. Stu knows he’s not sleeping. He’s thinking. It was normal for Billy to come over at night, it was basically daily. He would knock on his window, Stu would open it. He’d always open his window for him.
It was rare to see Billy like this, though. Stu had known something was up with him for a little bit now, but he hasn’t tried to pry.
Billy finally turns over, his eyes tired and his lips slightly parted. He looks into Stu’s eyes, studying them. Stu quirks an eyebrow up with a small smile on his lips.
“What?” Stu whispered.
Billy doesn’t say anything, just reaches out his hand. He softly touches his chin, almost like he was going to break if he did any more. And god, Stu loved when Billy would do this. Be so gentle, so loving, it was a sign he really did love him. Stu leaned into the touch, and Billy’s lips slightly smiled.
“Hey.” Stu mumbles, and reaches out a hand to pet his head.
“Hm?”
“What’s got you like this?”
Billy doesn’t answer right away, and looks away, embarrassed.
“…Nothing.”
“Don’t lie.” Stu says jokingly.
Billy sighs. Getting Billy to tell him things was always like pulling teeth.
“I don’t know…”
Stu grins at that. “Tell me. Please?”
Billy looks at him again, his stare piercing into his heart.
“Is it bad that I want to look at you?” He scoffs. He’s getting closer.
“No, I just wanna know why..”
Billy looks at him again.
“Cause I love you.”
Ah. Stu would never get used to that. He never felt that way with Casey or Tatum or any of the girls he’s ever dated. But god, the way Billy says it, the way he means it, it makes him melt. Stu stares at him, for a bit too long.
Billy quirks an eyebrow up at him.
“Hellooo?”
Stu snaps back to reality, and realizes Billy is smirking at him.
“Ah, yeah. I love you too. More than anything.”
Billy looks at him, curiously.
“Do you mean that?”
Stu smiles, wide.
“Of course.”
Billy’s eyes soften, and his lips part. He looks down, at Stus hand, and reaches for it. He softly puts it on his chest, above his heart. It’s beating rapidly, and god does that do something to Stu. He looks back into Billy’s eyes. He had a gorgeous look, like a curious dog. He was slightly flushed, eyes wide.
“You know..” Billy whispers, barely audible.
“I’ve never felt like this. With anyone else.”
Stu knows this. Billy tells him a lot. It seems to make him feel good.
“Yeah.” Stu muttered back.
“I never wanted to be gentle with anyone, till we started…this.” Billy said, looking away again. “You’re the only person I give a shit about.”
Stu doesn’t usually hear Billy talk about his emotions like this. But these words hit him like lightning, his whole chest igniting with sparks.
“…Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Stu smiles, and looks at Billy. He looks…different. His eyes are calm, looking at him like he’s the only thing in the world that matters. He’s seen him like this before, but it still felt like the first time.
He touches Billy’s cheek lightly. He leans into the touch. He kisses his forehead lightly, and smiles. Billy pulls him down and softly kisses him. Stu melts, and wraps his long arms around the small of Billy’s waist. Billy pulls back, and puts their foreheads together.
No words had to be spoken, but they both knew.
Id do anything, anything for you. If you asked.
