The warmth of his breath on her cheek, and the soft caress of his fingertips down the length of her neck had only intensified the fire in her belly. Covering her body in goosebumps that never seemed to fade.
There were no barriers between them.
No alcohol, no drug, no anger to blame their actions on.
Eric was gone for the night. Doing what he did best, and Francesca was left at home, encaged to the bed by the arms of her beloved brother.
He might've been the younger sibling, but Vito never showed it. The only times he had been held in Frankie's arms were when he was a boy. She had been his saving grace when he had no one else to turn to whenever papa had too much to drink.
Now as an adult, Vito was Francesca's saving grace.
"Vito..." Her lips moved slowly and her eyelids fell heavy as they looked up into her brother's. Her fingers clinging too tightly to the sheets beneath her. She was afraid, and it was blatant in her expression, but there was something more.
Vito stayed quiet, his darkened blue eyes flicking carefully between Francesca's, his knee slowly moving across the sheets to push her legs apart.
Their smells mixed into one, nearly driving Vito to complete madness, cupping one side of Frankie's flushed face.
"Frankie, tell me what to do, I...I can't think fuckin' straight anymore!" The younger sibling panicked, and the look in his eyes was that of soul-wrecking depravation.
His brow sparkled with sweat, and his hands trembled.
Francesca knew that what they both wanted to do was going to send them straight down to the deepest corridors of Hell, but it had been a very long time coming.
They were both ashamed. Utterly disgusted with themselves for simply having harmless thoughts, but they had finally let go of the last of their inhibitions, and no matter what was said or done, nothing was going to put an end to the tenderness that they shared.
Francesca blinked slowly, not wanting to miss a single second of Vito, and grabbed his hand that held her cheek.
All was quiet except for their conjoined breathing, and the gentle creaks the bedframe would make with the slightest bit of movement from them.
Frankie knew what she wanted to say to her brother, but everything around her was becoming too heavy.
She could hardly believe that she was still very much alive.
"Just...oh Vito, I am so afraid!" Francesca's eyes suddenly twinkled with tears and her lip trembled.
Her heart thumped painfully inside the walls of her throat, nearly deafening her with it being the only sound in her ears. Shame swelled inside her, and there seemed to be no escape for it. Only in the tears that ran down her cheeks.
Francesca's breathing was out of control, and so were the everflowing tears, and even when Vito held her face between his hands and wiped away the wetness with his thumbs, his tender aid only worsened the situation.
"G-get off me, Vito, please, just get off!" Her voice was unnaturally loud as she swatted at him, and in spite of how he was feeling, Vito obeyed, and put a considerable distance between himself and Frankie.
They wanted each other, needed each other so badly, but everything about the feelings between them was wrong.
"I...I'm sorry, Frankie, but...I..." Vito's voice trailed off, and he looked to the side, unblinking, and pulled as taut as an elastic band ready to snap at any moment.
He stood there in a white sleeveless shirt, and a pair of boxer shorts that fit him loosely.
He was tall, slim, and built like a Greek God, but Francesca could never be with him like she had dreamt about many times before. There was no way that she could.
"I'm so sorry, Vito...I should of...shouldn't have, oh god, it's all MY fault!" Frankie's soft cries had turned into pathetic sobs that completely wrecked Vito.
He looked back over in her direction, brow furrowed, and his fingers furled into angry fists.
"Don't ever say that, Frankie!" The younger sibling creeped over to the bed, flicking his eyes all about her. Appreciating her vulnerability and beauty.
Francesca wasn't like any other woman, and that was what made her special.
She was his sister, his blood, and that was what made Vito's desires wrong. He wanted her, needed her, and he knew that she felt the same way about him.
"You were so young, and I...I took advantage of you!" Francesca sobbed even harder, hiding her face in her hands, folding her knees tightly into her heaving chest. Vito only furrowed his brow deeper, stepping to the head of the bed to rest his hand upon his sister's hands.
She never did such thing.
Vito would always remember their first kiss like he'd always remember the first time he had ever killed a man.
"Francesca, look at me." Vito said softly, fingers touching her soft hair.
She just shook her head, and curled into an even tighter ball.
"Look at me!" He raised his voice, having had no other choice, and she listened, wiping away the mess of tears and makeup from her cheeks.
Vito stood there on the side of the bed, giving Frankie his hands.
She bit her lip, and looked down at them before slowly grasping them, and squeezing out more tears when her eyes flicked up to meet his again.
He hummed and gave her a heartwarming smile, tilting his head to the side.
"Frankie, it was just a kiss."
Francesca let go of Vito's hands and stood up from the bed to leave the room, but was immediately stopped.
"I was 18, Vito, you were 14. I knew better than to let you...you know what I'm talking about! Do I have to even say it, Vito?" Frankie met his eyes again, and that was when Vito pressed his lips to hers, a hand on the side of her neck and the other around her wrist.
His lips were smooth and warm.
Vito felt so strong, and it made Frankie's heart flutter.
"Yeah, so, I was 14, a kid who knew no other girls but you. I didn't care about them growin' up, Frankie." He pulled back just to further reassure her, but Vito's words still didn't seem to get through to her.
She licked her lips and hurried away, only to be grabbed by the arm, and pulled back into Vito's space.
They couldn't end their night like that. Fighting with Francesca was always something that Vito hated. No matter how trivial the argument.
"Vito, let go of me!" The older sibling growled, struggling against the younger one's hold on her arms. Her loose bangs and earrings swaying with her every jerk. Vito only shook his head and pulled her close to him, kissing her temple.
"I love you, Frankie."
