"I still can't believe you took that deal!" Petra said, pacing. She'd been pacing since they entered the dorms, which was ten minutes ago.
"Relax! I'll be fine! I'm not going to the mines, no one is. Well, I hope..." Jesse responded, lowering her voice when saying the last part. She still wasn't sure if the other competitors would follow through with her plan, she just hoped they would, or they would all be in the mines.
"But what if they don't?" Petra stressed, finally stopping her pacing and turning to look at Jesse. She looked angry. Very angry. It'd been a while since she'd seen her so angry. Jesse still didn't understand why this set her off so much.
"Then, we're all in the mines, I guess." Jesse offered, shrugging. She was, outwardly, not very affected by the thought. She'd pushed the thought to the back of her mind, trying not to think about it so it didn't ruin her spirit. She had a tendency to overthink when given the chance.
"By the stars, I don't know how you can be so nonchalant about this! We'll be there forever! The game is rigged! We'll never get out! We'll never see Beacontown again!" Petra yelled, not as loud as she'd like to be but loud enough for Jesse to have a guilty look on her face. She'd moved in front of Jesse in her tirade, grabbed her by the shoulders and started shaking her with every sentence.
"Okay, okay, okay--i'm sorry. If we survive this, I'll never do anything like it again." Jesse sighed with a weak smile, trying her best to calm Petra down. Petra scoffed in response, rolling her eyes. She didn't believe her.
"Can we sleep? Please?" Jesse begged once Petra had walked away, resuming her pacing. Petra stopped in her tracks at the question, scowling at Jesse before giving in with a sigh. She moved toward the bed, which they weren't actually supposed to be sharing, and turned the light out before laying down.
"If you ever do this again, ever, I will punch you so hard that you'll be seeing the wither storm again." Petra scolded, not yet done with chastising the hero. Jesse nodded quickly in response, not entirely sure she was joking. Actually, she knew she wasn't joking. She just hoped she actually never did do this again. The whole thing wasn't enjoyable, and being punched that hard, by Petra, yeesh she shuddered even thinking about it.
