Work Text:
It was cold and chilly in Snowdin; clouds covered the sky. Ink walked peacefully through the snow, patrolling the AUs by checking for any bugs or anomalies, but something felt off.
He made a new friend recently and they liked checking on him during his patrols. Normally they would've already been here.
"Hey." That was not his friend.
"Error? What are you doing here?"
"Nothing you need to worry about."
"You make it sound like I should."
Ink waited for Error to respond, but he never did. He only kept staring at Ink with an odd expression in his eyes.
Ink turned around and resumed to his usual routine in the AU, all while still feeling Error's eyes on him.
He turned back around. "Error, wha—" He was standing right before him. Startled, Ink took a few steps back.
He cleared his throat to regain his composure. "Why are you watching me? There's nothing for you to gain. You can easily do a checkup yourself if you wanted to. You wouldn't need me for that."
Error smiled at him. "If you say so."
This was getting weird.
"I do say so. Now answer the question."
"Because I want to."
"Huh?"
"I'm watching you because I want to. Happy?"
What was he planning? Did he just want to freak him out? If so, then that was working wonderfully.
"And why exactly do you want to?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Ink rolled his eyes. Error was definitely just trying to make him paranoid. No need to dwell on it.
He went to the next AU and sure enough, Error followed him. Same happened to the next one he went to. And the next one. And the one after that. And...
"Seriously, what's the deal with you today? You can harass me all you want after I'm done with my work."
"...Isn't it strange?"
"What is?"
Error was still smiling. "I'm sure you already noticed, Inky."
"Inky? What the hell are you talking about?"
"Isn't it strange?"
Ink was seriously starting to get weirded out by Error. Sure, he had always been unique, but he never acted like this before.
"Stop being so cryptic."
Error hesitated before answering. "So there's nothing unusual? Are you sure?"
"You're unusual. Quit wasting my time."
Ink didn't know what got into Error, but if he thought this was a good prank, it couldn't have been anything good.
"Come on, Inky. Think about it."
"Either tell me or leave me alone."
"Isn't it strange—"
"It is."
"—that I'm the one visiting you? Were you not expecting someone else?"
Ink hated to admit it, but Error was right. He completely forgot about his friend since Error kept acting so weird.
"And what if I was?"
"Want to guess what happened?"
"No. Tell me."
"You're no fun, Inky."
"I don't care. Tell me."
Error moved closer to Ink. He raised his hand to his throat and made a slicing motion.
"Do you get it now?"
Was it too much to ask for Error to even resemble a normal person?
"Why would you even do that?! Did they piss you off that bad?"
"They did. It was like you had a leash around them. Disgusting."
"That's not true at all! And even if it was, why would you be bothered by it... You know what? I don't have the time for this. There's no way that would interrupt with any of the AUs' scripts and I still got a ton of work left. If you would be so kind and do me the pleasure..."
"Wait... You don't care I killed them? Like at all?"
"Fuck off, Error."
Ink turned away from him and opened up a window to continue the checkup.
"Do you at least want to know why I did it?"
"Didn't you already tell me?"
"That wasn't all of it."
Of course it wasn't. There just had to be an ulterior motive.
"After work."
"Are you serious right now?"
Ink didn't answer. Error will probably end up throwing a fit and he didn't have the patience to deal with it.
"You could at least look at me."
He didn't.
Error marched over to Ink and forcefully closed the window Ink was working on.
"Hey!"
"Don't just ignore me."
"Error, I only want to finish my patrol. Stop interrupting me for no reason."
"I do have a reason."
"Really? What is it? Did you kill another one of my friends?"
"No, I didn't! How can you even be so nonchalant about it..."
"Get used to it."
"You know what? It doesn't matter. Just listen to me."
"So you can waste more of my time?
"I killed them—"
"I know."
"—because I don't want you to spend time with those idiots."
"Is that all?"
"Do you not understand?!"
"I get it, I'm super awesome and all that stuff. Of course you couldn't resist wanting to hang out with me. But that still doesn't warrant you killing others."
"I don't want to just hang out with you, cocky little shit!"
"Find better ways to isolate me then."
"No! I— ugh!"
Error grabbed Ink by the shoulders, looking directly into his eyes. Weirdly enough, Error didn't seem angry. There was something off about his eyes, but Ink couldn't tell what it was.
"The hell are you doing?"
"Shut up. For just one second."
"What if I don—!"
Ink's eyes widened. Error kissed him. It didn't seem like he was stopping anytime either. Ink pushed him away.
"Dude!"
"Ink, I love you."
"Take these feelings and shove them up your ass. I got work to do."
Ink left the AU. Error followed him.
"You can't just run off like that!"
"Watch me."
Ink, again, did his usual routine, while constantly getting harassed by Error. He started accusing him of... something? Ink didn't really listen all that much.
After a while Error used his strings on him and tried to fight him. Ink didn't engage much.
Looks like this would be a loooong day.
