Work Text:
Ambition bites hardest when you least expect it.
More, more.
What more could you want?
Everything already lays at your feet.
Still, there's so much more that you could have.
You'd do anything to get it.
I'm left in the dust, forgotten,
as you reach for heights that I can't even imagine;
ones that you can barely see for yourself.
Your fingers brush your dreams,
and when you come crashing down once more,
there I am.
You strive, you reach, you do more.
It's never enough.
I only wonder when you'll realise.
When will you learn,
that the more you try, the worse the result is?
This is a hell of your own making.
Still, I lend a hand.
Even when your thirst for more is insatiable.
A quiet word, a familiar reset.
And off you go once more.
Building rickety ladders to the clouds.
I hope you know that this will be your doom.
