It wasn't news that engenes and the members se jake as someone with golden retriever energy. His sulking,playfulness etc.
So how exactly did they end up calling sunoo 'pup'? More over its jake who calls him that the most.

It wasn't a thing at first, things were going as they were. But slowly and surely they saw the similarities.
1. Confused puppy face
Whenever Jake would be confused he would tilt his head, like a goddamn puppy and stare at you. Everyone melts seeing him.
Once, sunoo was at the table eating a cake focused. Sunghoon saw him and quickly sat opposite of him and started talking about his previous ice skating gossip.
"So, what should I do sun?" Sunghoon asks and watches as sunoo doesn't raise his head, his focus was entirely on the cake infront of him.
"Huh?" That's the look he was talking about, sunoo looked up at his, taking his eyes off the cake, he tilted his head a little and looked at him with his wife eyes and puffed up cheeks because of the cake.
Sunghoon watched him, and blushed as he felt his heart bursting. He smiled and shook his head quickly "nothing ddeonu, eat your cake " he watches as sunoo smiles and goes back to eating
That was the first time sunghoon saw the similarities between the two members.
2. Phantom ears
Jay and Niki coul practically think, whenever they saw Jake happy and sad, that if he was a puppy his ears would have dropped down or stood up.
Awhile after sunghoon's situation, jay and Niki were hanging out in sunoo and niki's shared bedroom with sunoo.
"Hyung, jay hyung, you have to make the tteokboki again" Niki chimed in our of no where, however the word tteokboki caught sunoo's attention and he looked up with expectations.
"Yah! You brat, it takes effort you know, I am not your private chef to order me anytime stupid" jay yells as he grumbles around his words, niki pokes his tongue out.
"You won't make more hyungie?" Jya and Niki snapped their heads towards sunoo's dejected tone, he looked cute too cute, he had a small pout on his face as his shoulder dropped a little, an obvious sign for sulking. Niki was sure if his sunoo hyung had puppy ears, they would have dropped down to at his sulking. He spared a glance at jay, abd knew he was thinking the same.
"No!" Jay cleared his voice embarrassingly "I mean no, I'll make it today itself" jay has to resist the urge to go and tackle sunoo in a cuddle but he sits still as he sees sunoo visibly brightening up, with his phantom ears standing up for sure.
After sunoo left for some work, jay and Niki just looked at eachother "reminds me of Jake"
"Jake hyung"
After many incidents like this, they even started noticing the bond when they two were two gather and that's how in the end he got his nickname.

"No, I don't think this time we'll in long enough" jay shrugs as he chats and walks with sunghoon to their dance studio "well you hope so, I like practicing, your just getting old jay" sunghoon grins as he laughs at Jay's glare
"Look at you, ice Prince. Should I remind you of the time you fell because you thought a bug was on your back?"
Sunghoon's grin immediately replaced for a frown "yah, I am not the one who messed up the kitchen and the ranted about it for hours"
"Without me you wouldn't get good food also" Jay gives a smug smile as he crosses his hands over his chest.
"Maybe but that's better than your annoying voice uncle"
"Yahh! You----"
"EEK HYUNGG!" Jay shut his mouth at the yell, he looked at sunghoon who was staring at him in return before they muttered the same name
"Sunoo!"
They rushed towards the direction where the yelling was heard, head full of worries they saw the studio and entered it.
"Sunooo....oh?" Sunghoon stops himself beside jay, near the door as they take in the situation infront of them.
Sunoo was lying on the ground laughing and squirming around as Jake tackled him and rustled or tickled him.
Jay could only state as Jake and sunoo began rolling around while laughing over eachother
"Eek, hyung no!" Sunoo voice was full of laughter and smiles as he tried to avoid Jake, who was laughing and smiling as he chased sunoo.
"This awfully reminds me of"
"Puppies playing? I literally saw a video of puppies playing around like this" sunghoon completed Jay's thoughts as they looked at their silliness.
Without hesitating, jay takes his phone out and snaps few photos and a video
"Send me that also"
"Definitely"
"Jay Hyung! Sunghoonie hyung! Save me from Jake hyung!" Sunoo yells as soon as he spots them and runs behind jay and sunghoon.
---------belly rubs?------
This was a bit more wholesome for the maknae, they knew about sunghoon's and Jay's discovery of them playing around, don't tell anyone but they created a chat just so jay could send the pics and videos.
Sunoo rarely fell sick, but when he did it was miserable,.not only for him but fir the others also, it crushed their hearts to see their sunshine so sullen and sad.
"Hyung? You should eat somthing" Niki suggests as he runs sunoo's back comforting the sick boy.
Sunoo sniffs and looks up, his eyes glossy and that makes jungwon coo and come closer to them "aw, sunoo-ie, you'll get better soon" he speaks and runs his thumb over sunoo's cheeks. "How about we take niki's advice hmm? Maybe some soup will make you feel better"
Niki nods from his side and continues rubbing his back, once they recieve a small nod, they both shuffle and move to the kitchen promising sunoo they'll be back with the soup.
They could have asked jay or the other older hyungs, but the heeseung was with beomgyu hyung and jay and sunghoon were out shopping. And Jake was pretty sure napping even if he wasn't, he couldn't cook to live, that only left the the maknae and the leader and none of them knew how to cook, but Riki deems he only knows to cook soup and jungwon stays with him so the house wouldn't almost burn down..again.
Once the soup is finished (lots of whispered yelling and smacking) they rushed to serve it in a bowl and take it to where sunoo was supposed to be sitting. However he wasn't and it left them both dumbfounded and worried, resisting the urge to panic they look around and find him on the couch with Jake.
Jake was sitting on the couch, while sunoo was laying on his lap, with his and shoulders on his lap and his body sprawled over the rest of the couch.
Jake was quietly giving belly rubs to sunoo, as if he was his pup and humming slowly.
"This is what jay and sunghoon hyung meant by puppyz bonding for sure" jungwon quietly says as to not break the adorable moment.
"Can you take a pic, this is too cute, I would have but I am carrying the soup" Niki quietly asks and jungwon without replying takes a picture and sends it to their secret group chat.
He looks at the replies and chuckles at Heeseung's whining 'why am I the only one who hasn't witnessed stuff like this😭😭 they are too cute help'
Once putting his phone back Niki and jungwon wlak over to the two, before sitting down on the carpet comfortably
"Sunoo-ie, the soups ready, can you get up for me please?" Jungwon knows it's bad, but he uses his pleading voice and manges to get sunoo sitting between Jake and Niki whol moved on the couch now with the soup bowl.
They carefully fed the sick member as he whined and sniffed in between, while Jake kept rubbing his belly.

Sunoo felt miserable as soon as the two left to make the soup. He felt like crying and dying, he thought of how the fever was making him emotional and sensetive and sniffed.
Deciding that the loneliness was to much, he searched for his other hyung who was in the house.
Once he found Jake sitting on the couch pretty much watching YouTube on his phone, he walked towards him and plopped down on the couch and laid himself on jake's lap.
Jake startled almost dropped his phone but didn't, he looked at his adorable distraction and frowned when he couldn't see his face, sunoo hurried his face in Jake's stomach trying to hide his tears of desperation.
"Sunny? Can you look at me?" Jake sighed as sunoo shook his head "c'mon sunshine, show me your pretty face, for me?" Sunoo hesitates but leans back and stares at Jake.
Jake's heart melts, gets crushed, and run over.by some truck once he sees sunoo's glossy tearful eyes and pout and puffed rosy cheeks.
"Oh aegi, you poor thing. I know it feels bad. Don't worry you'll get better soon hm?" Jake comforts him as sunoo whines and let's some tears escape, Jake gasps and wipes the tears while caressing his cheeks
"What's wrong love?"
"I don't know, wonie and Riki left to make me soup and they promised they'll come back soon but I felt lonely, any my fever is making me emotional" sunoo whines and tears up again, Jake chuckles at the younger and pulls him closer.
"Shh, it's okay sunlove, they won't leave you anytime none of us will, they'll be back soon, and it's okay to be emotional, fever messes up are feelings right?"
Sunoo nods a little, Jake thinks a bit and brightens up a idea, he places a hand on sunoo's stomach and starts rubbing it like he's giving belly rubs.
He does this to layla, too soothe her and cuddle her, and it worked with sunoo. Sunoo relaxed at his touch and closed his eyes.
Jake wanted to laugh, as he thought how sunoo looked like his pup,
Unknowingly Jake also started humming soon.

Their fanmeet was going great. The members and the fans were enjoying the even happily. Their interactions were wholesome and nothing was going wrong.
They were giving out posing for photos with the props they got from the fans.
Sunoo smiles and takes off the head piece off, and places it next to the box, he looks through the box and finds two pairs of headbands, with puppy ears on them. One is a beautiful golden colour while the other is a snow white colour.
There were many members he could choose from to wear with, but he instantly knew who to actually wear them with, without a thought he spots Jake at the last side of the stage laughing with fans and rushes to him.
"Hyung, will you wear them with me?" He asks as soon as he gets Jake's attention and shows him the ears.
Jake smiles brightly and nods quickly and takes one of them and quickly turns around to place them on his head "are they on perfectly?" He asks sunoo "perfect hyung"
"Here, I'll help you put yours on" Jake helps sunoo also out his ears on and ruffles his hair, Jake's heart was oozing love, once he saw sunoo in the ears.
"Hyungie, c'mon fans are asking for photos" sunoo judges him and faces the fans flashing his sunshine smile.
Jake happily poses with, with an arm around his shoulders, for the few poses he leans his head on sunoo, or pinches his cheeks.
"Hey, keep these now, let's take our own photos after the event?"
Sunoo gasps dramatically "you know me sooo well hyung"
The rest of the event quickly gets over with some speech at last, and they wave a quick bye before leaving the stage and moving backstage into the rooms. No-one has yet noticed the puppy duo.
"Where's sunoo and Jake?"
Heeseung turned around to face jay who was the owner of the question he shrugs "you remove your makeup, I'll go find them"
The two in question had quickly snuck away and were taking photos with eachother.
"Sunoo-yah, Jake, ---"
Heeseung stood still and almost melts to the ground at the scene infront of him. Sunoo and Jake were looking adorable very very adorable. Both wearing were wearing those puppy ears and we're now looking at heeseung with a curious look.
"Seungie hyung?" Sunoo's voice snaps heeseung out of his cooing "you guys look adorable, aigoo" heeseung puts a hand over his heart, as Jake laughs and sunoo blushes.
"Let hyungie take a photo please?" Heesung asked hoping for a yes and when he got the reply, he took his phone out and clicked a few pictures in his phone.
"Hyung, what were you asking us?"
Heeseung humms and looks up at them again"oh I wanted to ask if you wanna cuddle pile in my room later, Only us three?" Heeseung knew this wasn't his question he meant to ask but he couldn't help it, they looked so soft and he wanted to just keep them in his pockets especially the youngest in the room now.
Heeseung coos as sunoo brightens up and rushes to him, mumbling yes and Jake follows "cuddle pile!" And cheers
Soo once they reached home, heeseung quickly freshened up and sat on his bed scrolling through social media.
He heard a knock on his door and looked up when he saw sunoo and Jake entering. "Cuddle pile?" Sunoo's hesitating voice melted heeseung as he opened his arms and nodded.
Both of cuddled heeseung, with sunoo on top of him and Jake cuddled closely with Heeseung's arm around them both.
"Had a long day right?"
Jake nodded, it was obvious to the both of them that sunoo was dozing of and Jake was soon gonna too. Heeseung smiles at the two of them and stroked sunoo's cheeks with his hand.
"It's alright sunshine, you can sleep" sunoo yawned, as he felt Jake's hand also holding him and soothing his hair. "Both stay right?" Sunoo asked obviously dazed in sleep state.
Jake nuzzled closer, "ofcourse sunny, I'll stay, I don't think hyung would mind sleeping with us today?" Heeseung smiles brightly, he loved cuddling, and cuddles from his sunshine and his Australian puppy was the best thing that could happen.
"I wouldn't mind ever, sleep tight" and none of them knew when Jake fell asleep from heeseung's soft humming and his hand softly patting Jake's back or when heeseung fell asleep due to the warmth sunoo and Jake gave, or the softness.

"We are only four here?" Jungwon asks looking and counting for his members. "Oh, where's hyung, and Jake and sunoo?" Sunghoon chimes in tapping the table in a tune.
"I don't know, I'll check on them wait" niki doesn't wait for a reply and instead walks to Heeseung's room, once he enters he sees the sight.
His demeanor softens as he sees his hyungs all snuggled up in a cuddle pile, still he frowned that he wasn't invited but he didn't mind it. His heart was already melting from this.
He snapped few photos and and left the room quietly.
The boys were definitely jealous.
-----a little angst ahead, and violence------
The photoshoot was going great somewhat, until sunoo's solo shoot, the director somewhat disliked sunoo, and it was pretty obvious.
Sunoo stopped them in the middle saying let's take a break since they have been shooting his photos continuously since 2 hours for his own btw, not even the group shots, and since he was first to go that meant no rest in between the first group shots and his solo shoot.
And the director of the photoshoot was not happy at all for that, since that meant stopping the photoshoot in between.
"Sunoo-ssi, let's just complete the photoshoot, this is gonna waste my time"
"I-I can't pd-nim, sorry but just a few minutes, or else this will effect my health"
As sunno left his personal set to join the rest of the boys in the styling room, his wrist was harshly grabbed and he was pulled back. He turned around and faces the director who was holding is wrist I'm a tight grip.
"Oh c'mon, your an idol you can handle straining some.muscles. This is your job"
"Pd-nim, can you leave my hand, it's hurting me, and I really would have but I can't really do all of the work once, " sunoo tried to be polite and remove his hand from the director's hands but the director instead gripped his hand more tighter and sunoo let out a little hiss
"How fucking lazy are you?, you can't handle working a little bit more, How are you even deserving to be an idol" the director's words cut through sunoo has he glared at him.
"Hey! I am not lazy asshole, and I am an idol not a fucking robot. Not my problem you decide to be a maniac working dog instead of being a human" sunoo spoke equally harshly and struggled to get away from the grip.
When suddenly he was pushed against the wall, a hand grabbed his throat and choked him.
"How fucking dare you! You worthless piece of shit, don't tell me what I am or what I should. Look at yourself you fucking hag. No one likes you even, your just a undeserving face that has no worth" The directors words were a little hazy to sunoo's early since he felt his breathway slowing down, yet he could still hear them as he tried to struggle his way out.
He was gasping for air, trying to desperately breath, and was tearing up from the lack of breath and the words he was hearing.
"Fu-ck y-yo-u!"
The director only tightened his hold on his neck and sunoo was pretty sure it was gonna leave a nasty bruise. "See fucking weak, your crying over this, maybe you should just leave--"
Jake who had been finding sunoo, since it has been two hours his solo shoot was going on and he was concerned that the younger might overwork himself, the others were also quite worried so he volunteered to bring him. And they agreed only to also follow him around.
What they found was the director choking his precious sunshine against wall and speaking somthing, Jake and the others saw red and they marched over, as Jake pushed the man away and punched his face.
"What the fuck are you doing?!" Jake angrily asked, heeseung, Niki and jay were quick to stand infront of sunoo as to protect him as Jake angrily glared at him.
Jungwon and sunghoon even though wanted to beat the shit of the man, first check on sunoo who was heavily gasping for breath trying to find a way to breath normally.
Jungwon kneeled infront of sunoo and rubbed his chest as sunghoon held his hands.
"What?! I was trying to reach him how to fucking work! He was wasting my time! He wasn't even doing good during the photoshoots he looked fucking ugly and and weak! He should just leave the fucking group why did he even debut in the first place ---" Jake and Niki quickly pounced on. The guys and punching him. Heeseung and jay trying to keep their urge to kill the guy, tried to hold them back.
Behind them sunghoon stilled at the words spat by the man, he was going to get up before jungwon stopped him.
"Hyungs are handling hoonie hyung, sunoo-ie needs us more"
Sunghoon calmed himself and faced sunoo again and held his hands, jungwon took on his hand and placed it over his own heart
""Sunoo-ie, can you take deep calm breaths baby?" Jungwon asks in a very soothing voice totally opposite to his anger and the situation going behind him.
Sunoo shakes his head as his gasps again "C-cant br-eath!" Jungwon feels like crying and sunghoon feels like killing the man who hurted their sunshine.
"Please aegi? You can breathe, your safe now no one's choking you anymore, hyungies are here, wonie and Riki are here" sunghoon tries as sunoo slowly nods his head "okay match your breathing to mine, Nonie. Yes your doing so great baby"
They watch as sunoo finally calms down, and stumbles into jungwon's chest. What felt like few hours was just a few minutes in reality.jungwon quickly wraps his arms around sunoo and kisses his forehead repeatedly while rubbing his back, sunoo sighs and snuggled closer ignoring the burn on his neck.
Sunghoon wraps his arms around the both and sighs as he watches the rest of the guys.
Heeseung and jay manage to somehow pull Jake and Niki back, not before secretly kicking the guy. None of them had a single scratch, except the director's eyes were definitely bruised. And they all have the same thought 'should have hit him more'
The manager comes in at the same time as the director stands up and was ready to yell again. Their manger takes a glance at sunoo who was in jungwon's and sunghoon's embrace and then look at the other boys facing the director and standing protectively infront of sunoo, and the director's bruised face.
He understands the situation and grabs the directors by his shoulder quite harshly. "I am reporting you Mr.whatever your name was, you cannot hurt anyone of the boys, I'll make sure you won't even get hired by any company!" The bodyguards drag him out As he starts yelling and spewing nonsense. The manager turns around and bows to them "sorry boys, I should have protected sunoo well,"
"Hyung it isn't your fault please, it's none of our fault, he was just an asshole who failed to see sunoo's growth and success" heeseung hurries with his words and glances around everyone to assure them it wasn't their fault.
"Take him home ok boys?, I deal with this, i'll make sure our company ceo and bang pd-nim knows about this"
The boys don't wait anymore, jungwon and sunghoon help sunoo stand-up who stuck close to jungwon holding his hand, he glanced at his members and flashed his bright smile. Covering up the pain and burn he felt on his neck.

At dorms everyone freshened up, and sunoo opted to go last, said wanted to enjoy shower time longer.
But he knew the real reason he wanted to stay longer, he knew his neck had bruised. Sunoo got out of the shower and looked in the bathroom mirror at his reflection, he saw the nast purple bruise around his neck. He gingerly touched it and hissed at the contact.
Sunoo wanted comfort, he quickly changed into his pajamas and wrapped himself with a blanket before rushing inside the living room
He spotted Jake and without a word sat on his lap and snuggled into jake's chest burrying his face in Jake's neck.
The others silently watched them, as their hearts broke at the sight of sunoo looking so small in Jake's arms. Jake silently wrapped his arms around sunoo in a protective embrace and covered him, like a dog does it to their pup.
Jake's hand brushed against sunoo's neck and sunoo couldn't help but hiss in pain. The boys stilled. "Sunny, baby could you look up?"
But he didn't listen and shook his head, jay sensing somthing wrong went over and kneeled until he was at the height of sunoo and Jake.
"Aegi, love, please, hyung won't be mad. Hyungs aren't hurting you" jay tried and that seemed to work as sunoo leaned back and looked at jay with his puppy eyes that were filled with tears, Jake frowned and rubbed his back as Jay slowly lowered the blanket from sunoo's body and his neck too.
Jay and Jake audibly gasped loudly at the purple bruise around sunoo's neck, it was a hand print and it looked like it stings bad.
Jay dates to touch his neck slowly and pulled it back as sunoo whimpered in pain. "Oh love, shh hyungie didn't mean that" Jake tightned his hold on sunoo and wished he could have atleast broke the man's nose.
The others tried to look at what was happening and what they saw wasn't best at all. The bruise was very evident heeseung muttered a curse while Niki spke some rapid fast Japanese, probably cursing the man.
Jungwon felt himself tearing up in anger and he wanted to kill the man that hurted him, and sunghoon could only stare.
Sunoo teared up more, and let out a whimper Jake quickly looked at him "what happened sunshine, tell hyung?"
"Hurt hyungie, it stings" sunoo's tears started falling and Jake could only hold the boy,
"Riki! Bring the first aid kit quick!" Jay's order was quickly heard and soon enough the mexic box was in Jay's lap as he opened the ointment.
"Baby, this will hurt sun, can you be brave for.me? Just this once?"
Sunoo whines but nods and jay slowly applies the ointment around his neck, sunoo hissed in pain throughout.
"All done sun, it's fine it won't hurt now" jay reassures him as he closes the box and goes to wash his hands not before kissing sunoo's head.
Sunoo seemed calm now, except he was stilled snuggled like a puppy in Jake's arms. And Jake had his arms around sunoo protectivley as he kept kissing sunoo's head and cheeks and rubbing his back.
The others looked at them and saw that Jake's phantom ears were sulking, most probably over sunoo being hurt.
"Sunoo looks like Jake's puppy, this is so cute it's like a puppy protecting his younger pup" sunghoon chimes in, mostly to ease the tension and stress and also since he wanted to finally say this.
Jake narrows his eyes at him and the others, as the others Snicker behind sunghoon. Sunoo whines and Jake looks at him, sunoo looks up and turns around to look at sunghoon and the rest.
"Hyung stop teasing me!" Sunoo was red in the face flustered as he glared at sunghoon.
"It's true hyung, you and Jake hyung look like puppies," Niki teases with a chuckle, sunoow whines and looks at Jake "hyung tell them stop, you guys calling me a baby fox was already bad"
"Yah! Stop teasing my pup!" Jake yells hiding his grin while sunoo glares at him "hyung your so mean!"
The members start laughing while sunoo gets up pouting "seungie hyung is better" and with that he cuddles into heeseung who smiles widely and cuddles back, while poking his tounge out to tease the others.
Jake sulks at that and pleads while the rest of the members fight over for sunoo, heeseung pulls sunoo closer "ikeu hyung could join us later right?" He mummers silently only so heeseung could hear his words.
"Ofc sunshine" heeseung says back.

And thats how sunoo finally was deemed with Jake as the puppy duo, even though the situation that lead to it was pretty bad, they all vowed to protect their sunshine puppy
