Summary
“Although you’re young, we’ve decided that you should be tasked with this year’s prayer.” Nanami’s eyes are sharp and calculating as they look Yuuji over. He tries to straighten even more but that’s impossible, he’s already straight as a board as he tries to look impressive and worthy of this great honor.
“I would love to accept!!” Yuuji replies, leaning forward in a deep bow. “I won’t let you down, Nanamin!”
There’s a deep sigh above him and when Yuuji looks, Nanami is rubbing his forehead, looking tired. He cocks a brow—did he do something wrong?
“I have a feeling this won’t turn out the way anyone is expecting,” Nanami says, half to himself. He seems to remember Yuuji standing there and waves a hand. “You’re dismissed. Report to me when you’re back.”
Yuuji nods eagerly and practically flies out of the room with excitement. This year he gets to be the one to offer prayers to their God! Even though it’s a task all Shamans do eventually, for some reason Yuuji feels like it’s life-changing.
He’s about to find out that he’s right.
