Work Text:

Steve pulls up outside of Robin’s house, sniffling loudly and wiping his nose on a (frankly disgusting) tissue. His head is pounding and he’s running late because it took him so long to get through his morning routine feeling like garbage.

Robin climbs in the passenger seat, slamming the door and already going off on a ramble. “We’re going to be late! Keith is going to be so pissed after last week. We really can’t lose this job, dingus. I don’t want to end up working somewhere without you.” She flips down the visor to use the mirror, pulling out her mascara as Steve pulls away from the curb. “Hey, you know that girl I was telling you about in my class? I think she does like me. Which is crazy because she’s gorgeous. But she laughed at my joke yesterday and did that hair flip thing you were telling me to watch out for and–”

Steve sniffs loudly, trying not to let snot drip down his face. Robin freezes, finally turning to look at him, her face scrunching in disgust.

“Are you sick?”

Steve nods, wiping his nose again. “Feel like shit.”

Robin scoffs and smacks his arm. “STEVE! You’re going to get me sick!”

Robin pulls the collar of her shirt up over her nose. Steve rolls his eyes, turning to cough against his shoulder. “It’s just a cold, Robs.”

Robin’s voice is muffled and nasally. “I have finals next week, dingus! I can’t get sick!”

Steve sighs. “I can’t miss any more days! We need the money if we want to put the deposit down on that apartment we looked at.”

Robin sighs and looks over at him with soft eyes. “Steve. Drop me at work and go home. Missing one shift isn’t going to make or break all our plans.”

Steve pulls into the Family Video parking lot, a cough racking through his body. He sucks in a ragged breath and nods. “Okay, you’re right.”

Robin reaches over to squeeze his shoulder, giving him a pity filled smile. “Go get some sleep, dingus.”
