Quite comfortable here

It was late December and the town of Binan had been covered in a blanket of snow. The sky had gone dark and the only source of light came from the streetlights and houses. “Io let’s go out and play in the snow!” Ryuu begged looking up at his best friend. “What are you a child? Besides I am busy dealing with the stock market at the moment.” Io responded, his eyes not once parting from his screen. “Pfff…” Ryuu exhaled, it was not like he didn’t have messages to reply to either, but it was extremely rare for Binan to get this amount of snow and he didn’t want to waste an opportunity to have some fun. Looking out the window again, Ryuu let out another sigh. Io couldn’t help but take notice at the pinkette’s actions, it was true that Io had other commitments, however seeing Ryuu looking so disappointed made his heart ache. “Fine… But only for a little bit!” Io gave in, Ryuu turned back to look at him with wide and sparkly eyes. Io gulped, Ryuu had always had a special ability to make others happy when he himself was happy. However for Io it was a little different, his best friend had also been his long time crush. It was vexing for Io to feel such longing for the person he felt safest with, after all acting on it would change the symbiotic relationship that he very much treasured. Still for Ryuu’s sake there was nothing he wouldn't do, and he knew that the same went for him.

After layering up the two headed out into the cold, winter air. “Uwaaa the snow looks so pretty! I totally get how people say that it gives off a romantic feeling.” Ryuu stated, glancing back to Io who blushed slightly. “Yeah I suppose, however it is quite cold out…” Io responded, carefully watching where he stepped. His eyes met with Ryuu’s, a playful grin was plastered on his face. “Is that your way of saying you want me to come closer?” Ryuu teased, causing Io’s face to turn a bright shade of red. “I-I didn’t mean it like that!” “Haha, I was just teasing you!” Ryuu laughed, his warm voice ended up making Io’s body feel hotter. Looking away, Io gazed into the distance, watching the snowflakes dance under the glow of the streetlights. “Io!” Ryuu’s voice called out, causing Io to instantly turn his direction, only to be met with a snowball making contact with his face. “Haha you totally fell for that!” Ryuu chuckled as Io wiped the remains off his face. “Fine, if you want to play it that way…” Io spoke, bending down to pat together a snowball of his own. Ryuu too started putting some together, and soon enough the balls were flying.

Panting, the boys looked at each other and smirked. “It seems that this ends in a draw,” Io observed. “Hah that’s what you think!” Io’s eyes widened to see Ryuu come charging at him, suddenly feeling the younger boy’s arms around him, they both crashed into the snow covered ground. Ryuu’s weight had Io trapped between him and the snow. Ryuu’s arms were still locked tightly around Io, his head now nuzzled into the miser’s neck. It wasn’t just that Ryuu was tired and didn’t want to move, he just wanted to stay like this, if only for a little while. It was quiet, neither made a sound; their heartbeats were both pounding so hard that it prevented them from hearing the others. The snow kept falling in the silent winter air, both waiting for the other to end whatever this was, not knowing that neither wanted this moment to end. Io felt as though he couldn’t breath, he had to do something before his heart exploded. “A-are you going to get up?” Io asked reluctantly, gripping the snow tightly in his glove. “S-sorry… I was just a little tired…” Ryuu blushed, slowly raising his body off of Io’s. Hearing the catch in Ryuu’s voice, Io stopped him by placing his hand around the small of Ryuu’s back. Ryuu paused, looking down at his best friend. Io’s cheeks were tinted red and his face clearly showed that he was embarrassed. His eyes however continued to meet Ryuu’s, not once looking away. Bracing his arm in the snow, Ryuu continued to gaze into the older boy’s eyes. His heart couldn't take the strain anymore so the playboy flopped to the side, lying beside the one person he couldn’t risk falling in love with. He himself knowing that deep inside it was already too late.

“So what now?” Io asked, breaking the silent air. “Dunno, honestly I’m quite comfortable here,” Ryuu responded, looking up into the sky. “Yeah… Same here,” Io agreed, his eyes too looking up at the falling snow. “Hey, Ryuu?” Io spoke, turning to look at the boy, only to find his eyes already looking at him. Inches apart they both blush and look the opposite direction. “W-what is it?” Ryuu asked nervously, “You were right… The snow… It is kind of romantic… you know, the setting and all.” Io couldn't believe the words that just escaped his mouth. “Yeah… definitely.” Looking back, both boys once again met the other’s gaze. Faces both flushed, this time they couldn’t just pretend they weren’t looking at the other. Panicking Ryuu grabbed a handful of snow, throwing it again at Io’s face. “Again… seriously?” Io groaned, sitting up and wiping his face off. “Haha sorry I couldn’t help it, you know how you just get an urge and you just need to go with it!” Ryuu explained, “Is that so?” Io asked, looking over at Ryuu, who had a blank look on his face. “Yeah, why?” Ryuu tilted his head to the side; if that was the case then Io was going to get revenge on him one way or the other. Grabbing some snow, Io threw it, distracting Ryuu. Using that moment to pin him down. “That’s a dirty trick Io!” Ryuu complained, “Why? You knocked me over before. “Yeah well, then I’ll just do this!” Twisting his body, the two boys continued to roll around until they returned to the position with Io on top.

“I’m exhausted…” Ryuu cried out, Io just laughed, resting his head in the nape of Ryuu’s neck. “Same here… I guess we should head back.” Io suggested, looking down at the younger boy. “I don’t want to…” Ryuu blushed, giving his honest opinion. Io’s eyes widened in shock, “Why is that?” Io asked, his heart racing. “Just cause…” Ryuu continued to blush. Io remembered Ryuu’s words from before, that sometimes you just have to give into your urges. Blushing like crazy, Io placed a soft, gentle kiss on Ryuu’s lips. Ryuu’s eyes widened, heart beating like never before as Io bolted off of him. “W-what was…” Ryuu stuttered, Io just started to walk back home. Jumping up, Ryuu called out “Io wait!” Turning around Io felt soft, warm lips planting into his own. Ryuu broke the kiss, just looking up at Io nervously. Both too flustered to say anything, Io took a step forward, placing his hand on Ryuu’s cheek. Ryuu clutched Io’s jacket, looking as though he would pass out from sheer embarrassment. Io brought his lips to meet Ryuu’s once again, passionately letting out all of the feelings he had held back for so long.

Breaking for air from their heated kiss, Ryuu whispers. “So what now?” Io just smiles, “not sure, but I am quite comfortable here…” Ryuu’s lips curve into a smile as well. “Yeah, same here…”
