Work Text:
Los Angeles, amongst many things, was famous for its almost constant warm, sunny weather. On average, only 34 days a year are met with any form of rainfall, and most of the time it is in the cooler parts of the year. So a sudden downpour was the last thing Detective (L/N) expected to deal with.
She remained where she stood by the door, watching as the Heaven's opened and the water pour. Trying to find the motivation, she moved for the door before stopping herself. As a new transfer to the Mid-Wilshire division, she didn't want to show any weakness to her new colleagues but there was nothing she hated more than rain; it was why she had moved to Los Angeles in the first place.
Taking a breath of confidence, she grabbed the file in her hand, placing it on top of her head as she reached for the door handle again.
"What are you doing?" A gruff voice sounded from behind her.
Quickly, she lowered the file and turned to see who had spoke. It was one of the Patrol Sergeants, the one she hadn't yet learnt the name of.
"Its wet..." She weakly defended, recognising the look of judgement in his eyes. "And I don't want to be."
Silently, he just quirked an eyebrow at her before taking a moment to consider his next move. He bit back the impulse to roll his eye and moved towards the door, revealing the umbrella he held behind him.
"You coming?" He asked, tone somewhat softer this time, not that the detective fully trusted it anyways. "I'm not going to wait all day."
"Wait? For who; me?"
The time he did roll his eyes. "Yes. You. You don't want to get wet, this umbrella is big enough for two. You coming?"
The detective nodded as she dashed to his side, shielding her hair as he raised the brolly. She waited to speak, trying to guage the Sargent's mood before deciding he had been nice enough so far "I'm (Y/N), by the way."
"Tim, but it's nice to meet you."
The pair stopped by (Y/N)'s shop. The detective decided not to question how Tim knew which car was hers, instead thanking him for the trip as she got into the drivers seat.
"Thank you again. Is there anything I can do in return?"
"Let me buy you a coffee sometime." Tim smiled, turning away before she could respond.
