Chapter 1: Part One

Chapter Text

-Dominique-

My family loves to travel. We go to Paris often to visit Aunt Gabrielle, and every other year we go to Egypt during summer vacation. Dad used to do curse breaker work there for Gringotts. Dad often shows us some of the places he got to see while he worked there.

It was a tradition to take a muggle airplane because it was fun, easier than apperating so far, and was a whole lot easier when me and my siblings were little kids.

When we got on the plane I immediately took the window seat. Vic sat in the middle, reading for most of the trip, and Louis had his air-pods in and was messing with his phone.

Eventually the plane touched down and we made our way through the airport. I offered to get the food while the others waited for the luggage. We usually reached Egypt around dinner time, so we always got a pizza from the same place. A girl about my age was working the register and in no time, I was back with my parents and siblings laughing and eating pizza. Fact: you can get pizza anywhere, even an airport in Cairo.

Soon we were at our usual hotel. The suite we got had two rooms, one for our parents and one for us. In our room there was a twin bed, and a bunk bed. Louis took the twin, and I took the bunk bed with Vic. I got the top bunk. This was how we had set up every year for as long as I can remember.

-Alexandria-

I had lived in Egypt my entire life. As happy as I was here, I had always wanted to see what it was like out of the country. I was raised by my single dad and he was very busy most of the time trying to make ends meet. I had recently gotten a job as a cashier at a pizza place in the local airport. I was able to make some money to help my dad, and I got to see people from all over the world- the closest I could get to traveling myself. My shift was over when I was in the back room hanging up my red apron.

Hold up- red? The color was suddenly there as if I had blinked and it just decided to show up. Who had I seen recently at the airport? Was it a customer? I ran through the day. It had been about as slow as molasses around here. Until that one customer showed up.

Wait- oh crap. I had just met my soulmate and not even gotten her name.

-Dominique-

I woke up before my siblings and stood up. Man it was dark in here! I couldn't see a thing. I went over to the window and pulled open the blinds. I blinked a couple of times it was bright.

"The sky is blue," I whispered.

"THE SKY IS BLUE!" I repeated.

"Merlin Dom! What the heck?" Louis said sitting up.

"The SKY is BLUE Louis."

"So?" he asked. I glared at him.

"Wait- OH!" he exclaimed. "Now shut up and let me sleep."

I grabbed a pen and started scribbling on my arm.

Do you live in Egypt?

Yes, do you?

No, I'm from England but I'm visiting Egypt. Do you think we ran into each other at the airport?

There was a pause.

Maybe. I was at the airport yesterday...

-Alexandria-

I probably could have told her I had seen her yesterday, but I didn't want to look like a stalker. Probably not the best way to meet your soulmate.

"Alex can we talk?" I heard my dad call from downstairs.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked.

"Alex, we're gonna have to move because of my job."
